Not with YouTube’s built-in scheduler. YouTube can schedule when a live stream starts, but its documented tools do not provide a clock-based lineup that switches videos inside one continuous stream. To change prerecorded videos automatically, arrange the playback schedule in an encoder workflow or a hosted service—and verify it supports exact time-based changes, not just a playlist that plays in order.
What YouTube’s scheduling features do—and don’t do
Schedule a live stream to start
In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, choose Manage, then schedule a stream. The scheduled event can appear as upcoming, and viewers may be able to select “Notify me.” This schedules the live event’s start; YouTube’s instructions do not describe a way to program different videos to take over at specified times within that event. Schedule uploaded videos separately
YouTube Studio also lets you schedule an uploaded video to become public at a chosen date, time, and time zone. That publishes an individual video; it does not insert the upload into a live stream already running. The distinction matters: a scheduled upload and a scheduled live event are separate workflows. How to get different videos on air at particular times
For a channel-like continuous broadcast, the live event is the destination and a playback system supplies the video. The schedule for changing content therefore needs to live in the playback or encoder workflow, or in a hosted service that explicitly supports the required schedule.

- Write down the lineup in your channel’s time zone. List each video, its start time, duration, and whether it should repeat. Decide whether the stream must remain one continuous event or whether separate scheduled live events are acceptable.
- Choose a workflow that supports clock-time changes. A sequential playlist or loop is not necessarily dayparting. Ask the service or check its documentation for a concrete answer: can a video begin at a specified clock time while the same live event continues?
- Prepare the video source. For an encoder-based setup, arrange the video files and timed transitions in the playback system feeding the encoder. YouTube’s encoder guidance explains connecting an encoder to a live stream, but does not provide a built-in timed-video playlist.
- Create or schedule the YouTube live event. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, use Manage to schedule the event if it should start later. Connect the encoder or hosted workflow to that event according to its instructions.
- Test the complete schedule before relying on it. Check the actual transition times, time zone, what happens at the end of each file, and whether a missed or delayed item affects later changes. Confirm whether the stream remains continuous throughout.
Hosted options: check whether they do timed switching
These services document prerecorded playlists or continuous loops, but that alone does not establish that a particular video can be assigned to a particular clock time within one continuous stream. Confirm that specific behavior, current plan requirements, maximum runtime, and total cost with the provider before committing.

Before you commit to a 24/7 schedule
- Confirm the behavior, not just the label. “Playlist,” “loop,” and “24/7” do not by themselves mean that you can assign individual videos to specific times.
- Check runtime and continuity. OneStream Live’s cited 24/7 help page states a 30-day maximum for that workflow. YouTube also warns that DVR functionality may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours, so viewers may not be able to rewind the full broadcast. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.
- Check rights for every video and audio track. A video being prerecorded or already uploaded does not establish that you have permission to rebroadcast it live. Make sure the rights cover the intended stream and territory, and review YouTube’s current copyright and monetization rules for your channel.
- Check where playback runs and what happens on failure. Confirm whether the source must remain connected locally, how the service handles interruptions, and whether the event can resume without restarting the schedule.
- Check the full cost and plan limits. Compare the plan required for continuous streaming with the separate plan required for playlists, where applicable, and verify current terms before paying.
