Some blenders can crush ice, but whether yours can depends on the exact model and jar. Check its official manual or manufacturer support page for an explicit ice-crushing instruction, then follow that model’s stated batch size and method. Don’t assume another blender’s directions—or its wattage—apply to yours.
Check your blender’s instructions first
- Identify the exact model and jar. Find the model number on the appliance, jar, or its documentation. Instructions for another model from the same brand may not apply.
- Look for explicit approval. In the official manual or manufacturer support page, search for “crush ice,” “ice crush,” or a specific instruction for frozen or ice ingredients. If the documentation does not cover ice, don’t assume the blender is suitable.
- Follow the stated amount and method. A preset, a pulse instruction, and a direction to add liquid are not interchangeable. Use the procedure and limits for your model.
There is no universal wattage threshold established by the manufacturer instructions cited here. Wattage alone does not tell you whether a particular blender is approved for crushing ice.

Why the method depends on the model
Manufacturer directions vary, even among blenders that have ice-crushing guidance. These examples illustrate why you should not transfer a batch limit or procedure from one model to another.

Each instruction applies only to the product or manual named in its row. Use your own model’s current documentation for its approved amount and operating steps.

Operate it safely
- Keep hands and utensils away from moving blades.
- Stop the blender before stirring or handling the pitcher. Follow the manual’s instructions if the blades jam.
- Unplug before removing the pitcher if your manual directs you to do so.
If your manual does not mention ice
Do not treat silence as approval or try another model’s directions as a substitute. Contact the manufacturer with your exact model number, or choose a blender whose official documentation explicitly covers ice crushing if that is a task you need it to perform. Check the documented batch size and operating method before relying on a product description alone.
