Its documented Media Source can loop a local video, and its VLC Video source can loop a playlist. CameraFi Live accepts video files, but its official materials describe a mobile live-production app and do not establish unattended, resilient 24/7 playout. That is an evidence limit—not proof that no CameraFi setup could work.

CameraFi’s Google Play listing also describes support for built-in and USB cameras, capture cards, audio files, and microphones; destinations include YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Restream, RTMP, and SRT. It lists H.264 and HEVC encoders and says output can reach UHD/4K depending on platform and phone model. Those are developer-supplied listing claims, not independent performance results. The listing shows an update date of September 17, 2026.

OBS is the clearer fit when you can dedicate a desktop computer to the stream and want a documented way to repeat a file or playlist. The following setup uses the OBS source types described in its documentation; exact interface details can vary by release.

Loop one video with Media Source
- In OBS, create or select a scene for the stream.
- In the Sources panel, add a Media Source and select the prerecorded video file on your computer.
- Enable the source’s Loop option so playback repeats when it reaches the end.
- Check the scene preview and audio, then connect OBS to YouTube using YouTube integration if available or the stream URL and key in the encoder settings.
- Start sending the stream from OBS and confirm in YouTube that the incoming feed is behaving as expected.
Loop a playlist with VLC Video
- Add a VLC Video source to the scene.
- Add the video files to its playlist and enable Loop Playlist.
- Check that the playlist advances and repeats before relying on it for a continuous broadcast.
- Connect to YouTube and start the encoder stream as above.
These settings make media repeat; they do not keep the computer powered, repair a failed home internet connection, or prove that a stream will recover after a failure. Plan for monitoring and recovery separately.
Prepare YouTube before going live
YouTube supports streaming from a webcam, mobile device, or encoder. For a first-time live setup, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours, so complete activation before the day you need to broadcast. With an encoder, select YouTube integration where available, or enter the stream URL and key in the encoder settings; configure the encoder and start sending the stream. Treat the stream key as private, since it authorizes an encoder to send to your channel.

Plan for archives separately
Do not assume an around-the-clock broadcast will become one complete archive. YouTube’s reviewed guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If a complete recording matters, verify YouTube’s current archive behavior and plan separate recordings or stream restarts rather than relying on a single uninterrupted 24/7 stream.

- YouTube is not accepting the encoder: Confirm live streaming is activated; first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Check that the encoder is using YouTube integration or the correct stream URL and key.
- The video stops at the end: For one file, check the Media Source’s Loop option. For a playlist, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source.
- The stream stops when you leave: OBS is local software, so the computer and network are part of the system. A loop setting does not keep either available or restart a failed stream.
- You need unattended recovery: The reviewed materials do not establish that either CameraFi Live or OBS guarantees fault recovery for a 24/7 broadcast. Evaluate a cloud service or purpose-built hardware against your recovery and monitoring needs.
- You need a complete archive: Verify the current YouTube archive rules and plan recordings or restarts; do not infer a full-day archive from an uninterrupted broadcast.
Other ways to keep a prerecorded stream running
For continuous YouTube operation, YouTube’s verified encoder directory lists Gyre and Upstream.so as cloud services for 24/7 streaming, and AJA HELO Plus for scheduling prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. The directory listing does not establish their prices or suitability for a particular channel, so compare their current terms and capabilities before choosing.
