This saves the page as a screenshot image. If you need editable text instead, choose Article. The right mode depends on whether you want to preserve the page’s appearance or keep its content easy to edit and search.
Capture a full scrolling page with OneNote Web Clipper
- Install the extension: Follow Microsoft’s OneNote Web Clipper setup guide and the Chrome installation prompts.
- Open the page in Chrome: Navigate to the webpage you want to preserve. Sign in to the clipper if it asks you to.
- Open Web Clipper: Click its icon in Chrome’s toolbar.
- Choose the capture mode: Select Full Page to save the webpage as a screenshot image. Choose Article if you prefer editable text and images.
- Choose where to save it: Select the OneNote notebook section, add any optional note details, then click Clip.
- Check the saved result: Open the clip in OneNote and confirm that the page content you need is present.
Microsoft’s instructions distinguish a full-page screenshot from an editable article clip. Microsoft’s OneNote Web Clipper guide also describes clipping a selected region as a screenshot image.

When a full-page clip looks incomplete
Web clippers do not guarantee a perfect copy of every site. Complex layouts, interactive elements, multimedia, and content that appears dynamically can produce incomplete or unexpected results. Evernote documents these limitations in its Web Clipper troubleshooting guide; Notion also notes that parsing varies by website.
- Some content is missing: Try another clip type, such as Article or Screenshot, or select the content you need manually.
- The saved layout is wrong: Switch between a full-page capture and an article-style clip, then inspect the result.
- Interactive or multimedia content does not work: A clip is a saved copy, not a guarantee that the original page’s controls and media will remain functional. Use a screenshot when visual appearance is the priority.
- Completeness matters: Review the saved note before relying on it as a permanent reference.
