Brutal Strike is a Soldier ability that costs 1 AP and lets the unit rush an enemy for melee damage, then Daze it. Daze stops the target from attacking, but not from moving or taking non-offensive actions. Its chief tactical value is therefore interrupting a dangerous enemy’s offense—not completely locking that enemy down.
What Brutal Strike does
Electronic Arts’ official guide describes Brutal Strike as a Soldier standard ability: the Soldier rushes an enemy and delivers a powerful melee attack that Dazes the target.

The current, unofficial Zero Company Databank lists the ability as a melee action that costs 1 AP and can be used once per turn. It identifies game build 25513890, so treat those action details as database-reported rather than an EA-published specification.
What Daze prevents—and what it does not
EA’s guide says a Dazed enemy cannot attack, but can still move and use non-offensive abilities until the effect ends. Use Brutal Strike when preventing an enemy’s attack matters; do not count on it to hold that enemy in place or stop every kind of action.

After Daze ends, the target gains Stun Resistance and cannot be Dazed again for the rest of the battle, according to EA. That makes the control effect a limited resource: consider saving it for an enemy whose attack poses a meaningful threat rather than spending it on a low-priority target.
How much damage Brutal Strike deals by tier
The following base damage figures are reported by the unofficial Zero Company Builds reference. EA’s guide confirms the melee attack and its Daze effect, but does not publish a tier-by-tier damage table. These numbers may change with game updates; check the live game if a patch has been released since the reference was updated.

What changes at tier six
Tiers one through five retain Daze. At tier six, the Databank lists the effect as Stun instead. A Stunned unit cannot take any actions; after the effect, it gains resistance to further Daze or Stun for the rest of the battle. That is a larger tactical change than the preceding small increases in reported base damage, because it expands the ability from preventing attacks to preventing all actions.

Is Brutal Strike worth upgrading?
Judge the investment on two factors: the reported base-damage increases and the eventual move from Daze to Stun. The early tiers add one point of reported base damage at a time; tier six is listed at 18 and changes the control effect. Whether that final upgrade is worthwhile depends on how often your squad needs to stop all actions rather than merely prevent attacks, and on what else competes for focus.

Practical ways to use the ability
- Prioritize a consequential attack. Daze is most useful against a dangerous enemy you expect to attack before your squad can otherwise eliminate or contain it.
- Account for the target’s remaining options. A Dazed enemy can still reposition and use non-offensive abilities, so plan around those actions rather than treating the effect as a full shutdown.
- Spend the control effect deliberately. Once Daze ends, that unit is resistant to another Daze for the rest of the battle; avoid using it casually if a more urgent target may need control later.
- Weigh the action cost. The Databank lists a 1 AP cost and once-per-turn cooldown. Consider whether the attack and interruption are more valuable now than other actions available to the Soldier.
- Evaluate tier six for control, not just damage. The reported damage rises by two from tier five to tier six, while the listed effect changes from Daze to Stun. The more important benefit may be denying all actions when that distinction matters.
