The US listing specifies support for media up to 11 × 17 inches, commonly called ledger size in the US. Brother UK positions the same model for A3 use. That makes it a candidate for offices that produce larger spreadsheets, plans, charts or marketing documents as well as ordinary office pages.

The broad-format capability is useful only if the printer’s physical size and paper handling suit the workspace. Brother’s US product listing gives dimensions of 22.7 × 18.8 × 14.8 inches and a weight of 51.4 pounds. Treat these as manufacturer specifications and allow extra room for trays, paper loading, cables and access to the scanner.

Brother’s US listing specifies two paper trays with a combined 500-sheet capacity, plus a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. That gives the printer three input sources, useful when an office regularly switches between standard paper and other media. The capacity figures are manufacturer specifications; the listing does not establish how often a particular office will need to reload paper.

The ADF holds up to 50 sheets, and Brother says it supports single-pass duplex copying and scanning. Along with automatic duplex printing, this is the model’s most concrete workflow advantage for offices handling two-sided forms or multi-page documents. The listing does not establish independent throughput or how well the ADF performs with every paper type or condition.
Speed ratings: manufacturer maximums, not a real-world test
Brother’s US product page lists maximum print speeds of up to 31 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 30 ppm in color. These are manufacturer ratings, not independently measured office speeds; they should not be read as a promise that mixed documents, graphics, duplex jobs or large-format pages will print at those rates.

Brother UK publishes figures using different units and formats: up to 31 images per minute for A4 monochrome and 30 images per minute for A4 color simplex, with lower rates for A3. Because the US and UK listings describe different regional figures and formats, compare only values with the same paper size, mode, unit and test conditions.

Brother’s US listing names Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi Direct, alongside Apple AirPrint, Mopria and Brother Mobile Connect. This gives a small office several ways to connect computers and mobile devices. Brother notes that wireless use requires a wireless network; cloud services require internet access and an account with the service being used.

Ink, regional cartridge codes and stated yields
For the US listing, Brother identifies Genuine LC506 cartridges and states starter yields of 1,800 pages for black and 750 pages for each color cartridge. These are Brother’s stated yields, not a measured cost-per-page result or a guarantee of what a particular workload will achieve. Actual page use depends on the documents printed, and the listing does not establish local replacement-ink prices.

Brother UK’s regional listing names LC528BK. That difference is a reason to confirm the cartridge family for the exact regional printer and check the code printed on the installed cartridge before buying replacements. The listings do not establish that LC506 and LC528 cartridges are interchangeable.
Price and warranty details to verify
Brother USA displayed a price of $389.99 when its product page was accessed on October 7, 2026. This is a dated manufacturer-page snapshot, not a verified current street price or a comparison with other printers. Check the current listing and local retailer availability before purchase. Brother’s US page also lists a two-year limited warranty; review the terms for the region and unit you are considering.

Who should consider it—and what remains unproven
The MFC-J6960DW is worth considering if your work requires A3/11 × 17 printing and you value integrated faxing, duplex printing, and two-sided ADF copying and scanning. Its stated paper capacity and connectivity options may also suit a busy home office or small office.
The available specifications do not establish print quality, typical speed, cost per page, long-term reliability, operating noise under a defined workload, or superiority over competing models. Without comparable independent testing, this is a features-and-fit assessment, not a performance verdict. Compare alternatives using the same paper sizes and print modes, ADF capacity and scan method, input capacity, connection requirements, local cartridge prices, footprint and warranty terms.
