Short answer: choose BoxCast Spark if you want a dedicated encoder integrated with BoxCast’s paid streaming platform and need options up to 4K60; choose Resi Mini for a compact Resi-based workflow capped at 1080p60; choose Blackmagic Web Presenter HD for an SDI production chain that needs direct RTMP or SRT streaming, monitoring outputs, or USB webcam operation. “Web Presenter” can also mean the separate Web Presenter 4K, so verify the model before buying.

These devices are not interchangeable on hardware specs alone. Match the encoder to your camera or switcher output, target resolution, network, audio path, monitoring needs, platform workflow, and the ongoing service cost. The published specifications below are manufacturer claims, not results from an independent head-to-head test.

Encoding and workflow H.264/H.265; BoxCast Flow and BoxCast platform workflow. A paid BoxCast subscription is required. H.264 using Resi RSP; uses Resi’s platform services. Web Presenter HD uses H.264 over RTMP or SRT and can also act as a USB webcam. The 4K model offers H.264/H.265 modes.
Network and monitoring Ethernet, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, and a 4.3-inch touchscreen. Resi’s Mini product page reviewed does not state Wi-Fi or onboard display specifications; confirm the exact installation details with Resi. Ethernet, 2.2-inch display, SDI loop and monitoring outputs, HDMI monitor output, and USB-C webcam output up to 1080p60.
Published hardware price $999 HDMI; $1,299 SDI on BoxCast’s product page. Starting at $799.99 HDMI; starting at $1,199.99 SDI on Resi’s product page. Regional pricing. Blackmagic’s Singapore regional page lists Singapore-dollar prices, which are not universal quotes.

Prices and product details can change. Hardware prices do not make a like-for-like total-cost comparison: Spark explicitly requires a paid BoxCast subscription, and the service costs and requirements for Resi should be confirmed for the plan and region you intend to use. Ask for a local Blackmagic price.

Choose by production setup

Choose BoxCast Spark for a BoxCast-centered workflow

Spark is a fit when you want the encoder, scheduling and streaming workflow within BoxCast’s platform rather than configuring a general-purpose RTMP/SRT device around a separate service. BoxCast describes automated scheduling, multistreaming, live preview, touchscreen controls, analog audio-level adjustment, network speed testing, and microSD backup recording. These are vendor-described features; they are not independent measures of reliability or image quality.

  • USB Webcam Out
  • SDI Monit Out

Check the source connection before selecting a variant: Spark is available with HDMI or SDI, and the SDI model lists up to 12G-SDI. It is intended to sit downstream of production equipment such as a switcher, not to take multiple camera feeds directly. BoxCast’s June 17, 2026 support article lists streaming modes through 2160p60 and says the encoder can select an optimal streaming resolution based on input and available bandwidth. It also states that 4K60 streaming and local recording cannot run simultaneously. Confirm the destination supports the resolution you plan to deliver.

Choose Resi Mini for a compact Resi-based 1080p workflow

Resi Mini is the clearest match if your production is built around Resi’s RSP and platform services and 1080p60 is sufficient. Resi lists an HDMI version with one HDMI Type A input and two-channel embedded audio. Its SDI version lists 10-bit 3G-SDI, loop out, locking connections, and two-channel, 24-bit, 48 kHz embedded audio. Both versions are specified for H.264 encoding up to 1080p60.

  • SDI Rates: 1.5G, 3G, 6G, 12G

Resi associates automated scheduling, cloud distribution to multiple platforms, adaptive video quality, and support with its platform. Those are Resi’s own service descriptions, not comparative performance findings. Its Mini product page reviewed does not state onboard display or local-recording specifications; do not assume those features are present or absent without checking the exact configuration with Resi.

Choose Blackmagic Web Presenter HD for SDI plus flexible streaming outputs

Web Presenter HD suits a production chain that outputs SDI and benefits from direct Ethernet streaming using RTMP or SRT, a USB-C webcam output, and dedicated monitoring connections. Blackmagic lists an SDI input, SDI loop and monitoring outputs, HDMI monitor output, Ethernet, and a 2.2-inch color display. It streams H.264 up to 1080p60.

Rank #3
Blackmagic Design Web Presenter
  • Converts any SDI or HDMI source to USB webcam video in 720p HD format
  • No drivers required, works with popular streaming software such as Open Broadcaster, XSplit Broadcaster, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Periscope, Twitch.TV and more
  • Supports all SD, HD and Ultra HD input sources up to 2160p60
  • 12G-SDI input with 12G-SDI loop output; HDMI 2.0 input with independent HDMI loop output
  • 3 Year Limited Manufacturer's Warranty

If you need Ultra HD, make sure you are evaluating the distinct Web Presenter 4K rather than assuming the HD model has that capability. Blackmagic’s technical page documents the HD and 4K devices separately; the 4K model supports Ultra HD and H.265 as well. The Web Presenter workflow is device-centered and supports a range of streaming software and services listed by Blackmagic, rather than requiring the BoxCast platform.

Check the signal chain before ordering

  1. Identify the source output. Check the camera, switcher, or other production device’s available output and format. Pick Spark HDMI or SDI, Mini HDMI or SDI, or the appropriate Web Presenter model accordingly. In particular, Web Presenter HD is SDI, while Spark and Mini have HDMI and SDI variants.
  2. Set the target stream format. Decide the resolution and frame rate your viewers and destination need. Resi Mini and Web Presenter HD are specified up to 1080p60; Spark’s current support information lists modes through 2160p60, subject to its recording limitation. Do not confuse a connector’s input capability with the resolution the device can stream.
  3. Map audio deliberately. Confirm whether audio is embedded in HDMI/SDI or supplied through a separate input, then test levels and channel routing through the full chain. Resi publishes the Mini audio details by variant; BoxCast lists analog audio inputs and level adjustment. The cited Blackmagic specifications emphasize its video and monitoring connections, so verify the audio path required by your source and destination.
  4. Plan network access at the install location. Spark documents Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi. Blackmagic documents Ethernet and describes phone tethering/mobile-data use. The Resi Mini page reviewed does not list network-interface details, so ask Resi to confirm the interface and configuration for your intended site. A wired connection is generally easier to keep consistent where it is available; the vendors’ product claims do not establish comparative reliability.
  5. Decide what must be monitored or recorded locally. Spark has a touchscreen and microSD recording, with the stated 4K60 simultaneous-streaming limitation. Web Presenter HD offers a display and monitoring outputs. The Resi Mini source does not specify an onboard display or local recording; get confirmation if either is a requirement.
  6. Price the whole workflow. Compare hardware, platform or subscription charges, any required service plan, and the cost of the network and production equipment you already have. Spark requires a paid BoxCast subscription. Confirm current Resi service-plan requirements and local Blackmagic pricing before comparing lifetime cost.

What the published prices do—and do not—tell you

As shown on the manufacturers’ pages accessed October 3, 2026, BoxCast lists Spark at $999 for HDMI and $1,299 for SDI. Resi lists Mini starting at $799.99 for HDMI and $1,199.99 for SDI. These are hardware price points, not complete cost-of-ownership figures. Spark’s page says a paid BoxCast subscription is required; Resi’s platform is part of its workflow, but the Mini page figures alone do not establish comparable recurring service costs. Blackmagic’s technical page is regional and shows Singapore-dollar pricing, so use a current quote for your market rather than converting it into a universal price.

Limits of the comparison

No independent controlled comparison of these three encoders establishes which has better reliability, image quality, or failure rates. Claims about resilience, bandwidth savings, and platform benefits should be treated as vendor claims. Actual results depend on the signal format, configuration, destination, and network conditions.

Be careful with older comparison material: a 2024 BoxCast-authored table described Spark as topping out at 1080p60, but BoxCast’s current product information and its June 17, 2026 support article describe streaming through 2160p60. Likewise, “Web Presenter” is not one spec: Blackmagic now documents the HD and 4K versions separately. For a purchase, rely on the current specification for the exact model and confirm firmware, destination compatibility, and any required service plan with the manufacturer.

If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel, consider a cloud alternative

These encoders are built around a live production signal. If your specific need is to keep uploaded video playing as a continuous YouTube live stream, rather than stream a camera or switcher feed, StreamNeo is the first alternative to consider: it runs from the cloud, supports uploaded video up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is separate from the three hardware encoders above: it plays uploaded videos to YouTube, not live camera video. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the loop running without a computer, OBS, or home connection staying on. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream, and gives each account one free day with no card required. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide.
