Boost Mobile may be worth considering if you want a lower-cost US phone plan, your phone passes Boost’s compatibility check, and Boost service works where you live and travel. The advertised $25 monthly Unlimited price has eligibility, AutoPay, and promotional conditions, and “unlimited” does not guarantee full speed throughout the billing cycle. Check your actual checkout price, local coverage, and plan-specific data terms before switching.
How much does Boost Mobile cost?
Boost’s About Us page advertises Unlimited service for $25 per month, but that is not an unconditional price or a guaranteed total bill. The offer terms say it applies to new customers who bring their own device or buy a device priced over $1,199.99, requires AutoPay, and is subject to promotional terms. Discounts are limited per order or account. Taxes, regulatory fees, and surcharges may also apply. Check the offer and final checkout amount for your specific order, including whether the promotion changes later. Boost About Us and Unlimited offer terms.

Plan terms can vary by activation date. For the specific Unlimited+ terms reviewed, the monthly fee excludes taxes, regulatory fees, and surcharges. Confirm the terms attached to the plan you are actually activating rather than assuming all Boost plans have identical pricing or allowances.

Unlimited data is not a promise of unchanged high speeds for the entire billing cycle. Boost’s disclosures describe plan-specific high-speed data allowances and QoS thresholds. Once a customer on an unlimited handset plan passes the applicable threshold, Boost and its network partners may deprioritize the connection or reduce available speed for the remainder of that billing cycle. Data continues without overage charges, but slower throughput and higher latency can affect data-heavy activities such as streaming and gaming. Boost Open Internet Transparency disclosure.

The reviewed Unlimited+ terms say customers using more than 40 GB may experience slower speeds. Treat that figure as a condition in those terms, not as a universal threshold for every Boost plan or activation date. The disclosure also says fixed high-speed-data allowances on some plans may result in reduced speeds or suspension, and that limits can apply to hotspot, tethering, and other specialized uses. Read the terms for your exact plan to establish its threshold and what happens after it.
Will Boost work well where you use your phone?
There is no single national performance answer that establishes what you will experience at home, at work, or on a regular route. Boost says it assigns service using its network and partner radio-access networks, naming AT&T and T-Mobile in its network explanation. It also warns that its network disclosure may not describe performance on extended-coverage or roaming networks, where performance can differ. These policy statements do not independently measure coverage, speed, reliability, or comparative network priority. Boost Open Internet Transparency disclosure.

Boost says most popular unlocked phones may be activated, but compatibility depends on the exact device. Use the IMEI checker before ordering or switching; an IMEI is the phone’s unique 15-digit identifier. Boost also advises customers switching from another carrier to have the phone unlocked by that carrier. Boost bring-your-own-device guidance and Boost compatibility checker.

Support for 5G or a particular network band alone does not establish compatibility. Boost says Android phones not purchased from Boost may need its Boost Config App to provision device settings. Check the exact IMEI and follow the activation instructions for your phone.
When will Boost unlock a phone?
Unlocking depends on whether the Boost device is postpaid or prepaid and on meeting the applicable eligibility requirements. Boost defines an unlocked device as one not restricted to its network, which may be usable with another wireless provider. Boost device unlocking policy.

- Postpaid: Boost says it remotely unlocks eligible devices within two business days after financing is completed, or immediately when the device is paid in full.
- Prepaid: Boost generally unlocks a device one year after its initial activation, once a reasonable time has passed and payment and usage requirements are met. If the device was financed, it must be paid off; the account must also be active and in good standing.
If you are buying a discounted or financed phone, consider these conditions before treating it as a flexible device you can quickly move to another carrier.
Is Infinite Access available to new customers?
No. Boost says its Infinite Access plans stopped being available on new lines on June 30, 2026. Existing customers retain their plans and benefits, including annual phone upgrades. The page lists existing iPhone and Galaxy Infinite Access plans at $65 per month, including 30 GB of premium data and annual upgrade benefits; those are existing-customer details, not a current offer for a new subscriber. Independent representative customer-service ratings were not established in the sources reviewed. Who is Boost Mobile a good fit for?
Boost is worth considering if the exact plan’s final price works for your budget, your phone passes the IMEI check, and local coverage and data terms match how you use your phone. It is a weaker fit if you need assured high speeds regardless of usage, frequently rely on hotspot data without checking its limits, or need to move a financed phone to another carrier quickly. This is an assessment of the published US plan and policy terms, not a hands-on coverage test or a guarantee of service at a particular address.
