Bolt is the strongest convenience-first choice where it operates, especially for scheduled or airport trips and riders who want a broad published safety toolkit. inDrive suits riders who want to suggest a fare and choose among driver offers. Yango is the clearest fit for riders who prefer a fixed upfront price, live driver tracking and a safety-centre workflow.
Your city, the number of available drivers, the time of day and your priority—price control, certainty, speed or safety—matter more than any worldwide download or city count. Compare the live options in your local apps before committing to a trip.

The short answer: choose by trip, not by global ranking
A global winner cannot be defended because coverage, vehicle categories, payment methods, insurance and safety features change by country. A service that has abundant drivers in one city may have few or none in another. Even within the same city, airport demand, weather, rush hour and local regulations can change the result in minutes.
| Rider priority | Best starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled ride or airport pickup | Bolt, where available | Its rider service allows bookings up to 90 days ahead and provides an upfront estimate tied to the destination and ride type. |
| Control over the proposed fare and driver | inDrive | Riders and drivers negotiate directly; you can choose the price, car, estimated arrival and driver from available responses. |
| Fixed price and live tracking | Yango, where available | The fare is displayed before booking, and the driver can be followed in real time. |
| Broadly documented in-app safety controls | Bolt or Yango | Both publish multiple tools, but the exact rollout and insurance terms are market-specific. |
These are starting points, not guarantees. Open the apps at the same moment, enter the same pickup and destination, and check the actual quote, vehicle supply and arrival estimate.

Where each app operates
Bolt’s published footprint
Bolt’s current rider information says the service operates in more than 850 cities across over 50 countries. That is a large published footprint, but it does not mean every product is available in every one of those locations. Bolt states that products, features and insurance coverage vary by country.
inDrive’s published footprint
inDrive reports more than 1,200 cities in 47 countries and over 400 million app downloads. Its city total is not directly comparable with Bolt’s country count or Yango’s operating markets: companies may define a city, service area or active market differently. Treat the figures as indicators of reach, not a prediction of driver supply on your street.
Yango’s published footprint
Yango Ride says it operates in 25 countries. It lists different service classes and prices by market, so the app’s presence in a country does not establish that every vehicle class, payment method or safety feature is offered in your city.

- Install the app and allow location access, or enter the pickup address manually.
- Check whether the app offers a car category for your route rather than merely showing a download or sign-up screen.
- Compare the number of nearby vehicles and the displayed arrival range at the time you actually travel.
- Open the fare, safety and payment details in the local version of the app; do not assume a feature described on a global page is enabled in your market.
How the three pricing models work
Bolt: an upfront estimate based on route and ride type
Bolt says the ride price varies with journey distance and the ride type selected. After you enter your destination, the app provides an upfront price estimate. That gives you a number to review before requesting the ride, but it is still an estimate and can be affected by the selected product, route conditions or local pricing rules. Bolt does not present this model as a universal fixed fare for every circumstance.
inDrive: negotiate directly with drivers
inDrive uses a peer-to-peer model. You propose a fare, and drivers can accept it, decline it or respond with another offer. The app describes rider choice over the price, car, estimated arrival and driver. This can work well when you know the local going rate or when you are willing to wait for a suitable response.

The trade-off is uncertainty: the final accepted fare depends on driver responses, and the time needed to secure a ride can be longer than a one-click booking. A low proposal may attract no driver, while raising it may reduce the saving you expected. Confirm the accepted amount and any in-app terms before the trip starts.
Yango: a displayed price before booking
Yango’s rider information says the price is set and shown before you book. That makes it the most straightforward model for a rider who wants to know the quoted amount without negotiating. The displayed fare still belongs to a particular market, route, time and service class; it should not be compared with a Yango fare from another country or with an unrelated vehicle category.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Which one is actually cheaper?
There is no reliable worldwide answer. No independent, comparable dataset establishes average fares for all three apps in one market, and a single quote can change with distance, traffic, demand, ride type and driver availability.
Use a same-trip comparison instead:
- Enter identical pickup and destination points in Bolt and Yango, selecting equivalent vehicle classes.
- Record the displayed estimate or set fare, the arrival time and any visible fees.
- In inDrive, submit a reasonable proposed fare and observe how quickly drivers respond and what counteroffers arrive.
- Compare the complete cost and the time to obtain an accepted ride, not just the lowest number on screen.
For a short trip, a small fare difference may be outweighed by a long wait. For a time-critical journey, a slightly higher confirmed quote can be the better value than repeated negotiations.
ETA, driver supply and cancellation risk
Wait time is local and momentary. None of the three publishes a single, independently measured average wait time that can be applied across countries. The app with the shortest estimate is usually the one with the most suitable nearby drivers for your exact pickup, category and time.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.

Reading the estimate
- Look at the number of available cars and the arrival range, not only the first vehicle shown.
- Check whether changing vehicle class materially changes the ETA.
- At airports, confirm the designated pickup zone and whether the driver can legally enter it.
- For inDrive, allow for the time required to receive and evaluate offers before the ride is accepted.
Reducing cancellation problems
Use a precise pickup pin, include a recognizable landmark where the app permits notes, and remain reachable through the app’s masked calling or messaging tools. If the driver cannot find you, move to the mapped pickup point rather than asking for an unapproved roadside stop. Keep the trip open in the app until the vehicle, plate and driver identity match what is displayed.
Safety tools and identity checks
Bolt’s published rider controls
Bolt lists Emergency Assist, Ride Check, live-location sharing, pickup codes, private calling numbers and 24/7 support. Ride Check is designed to identify unexpected or excessively long stops. Pickup codes help the rider and driver confirm they are joining the same trip, while number masking allows communication without exposing personal phone numbers.
Bolt also says insurance is supplied through partners for selected services and regions. Do not infer that every Bolt ride carries identical insurance coverage; read the terms shown for your country and service.
inDrive’s Safety Center
inDrive describes a Safety Center that, in at least some markets, includes an SOS function, real-time trip sharing and emergency contacts. An official Ecuador safety announcement documents those tools there. Because availability is market-specific, open the local app’s safety menu before relying on any particular control.
Yango’s safety-centre workflow
Yango announced on October 14, 2025 that its redesigned safety centre was live across more than 25 markets. The described tools include driver identity verification, speed monitoring, driving-style analysis, trusted-contact sharing, SOS access and four-digit PIN matching. The PIN requires the rider and driver to confirm the same code before the trip proceeds.

What every rider should verify
- Confirm the driver’s name, photograph, vehicle make, colour and registration against the app.
- Use the in-app trip-sharing or trusted-contact option before departure when available.
- Keep the route visible and use the emergency control in the app or local emergency number if you feel unsafe.
- Check the local insurance disclosure; a safety feature or partner policy may cover only selected services.
Vehicle classes, accessibility and passenger needs
The apps do not publish one universal catalogue of vehicle classes. A category name can mean different seating, luggage or accessibility standards in different markets. Yango explicitly notes market-specific service classes, and Bolt likewise says products vary by country. inDrive lets riders choose among cars offered by responding drivers, so the available vehicle depends on who is online.
| Need | What to check before booking | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Large luggage or airport bags | Passenger and luggage capacity in the selected category; pickup-zone rules | A standard car may accept the passenger but not the bags, and airport access can be restricted. |
| Child seat | Whether a local category explicitly supplies one | Do not assume a regular vehicle includes child restraints. |
| Wheelchair or mobility aid | Accessible-category availability and loading requirements | Accessibility options are not stated as universal across these services. |
| Multiple passengers | Seat count shown for the exact vehicle offer | Capacity and category names differ by market. |
| Pets | Local pet policy and driver acceptance | Policies and driver willingness can vary even when a car is available. |
If a requirement is essential, contact support or the driver through the app before starting rather than assuming the vehicle shown meets it.
Payments, receipts and records
Payment methods and receipt formats are local settings, not global guarantees. Before confirming a ride, open the payment selector and check whether the app accepts the card, wallet, cash or other method you intend to use. Verify that the selected method is attached to the current trip, especially after changing accounts or travelling across borders.
Save the electronic receipt or trip record immediately after completion. It is the most useful reference for a fare dispute, a lost item, an insurance question or an expense claim. If the fare differs from the pre-trip display, compare the receipt with the route, service class and any clearly listed local fees.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

When Bolt is the practical first check
Bolt says riders can schedule a trip up to 90 days in advance. That makes it the clearest first option among the three for a planned airport departure or another appointment where advance booking is important. A scheduled request is not a substitute for checking the driver assignment and pickup instructions on the day; allow extra time for traffic and airport procedures.

When inDrive is a better fit
inDrive is useful when you are comfortable arranging the ride closer to departure and want to choose from driver offers. For a fixed-time flight, build in time for negotiation and have a backup plan if the initial fare receives no response.
When Yango’s fixed quote helps
Yango’s upfront price and live tracking can make a planned transfer easier to budget and monitor where the service operates. Confirm the local airport pickup rules and vehicle class, because those details are not uniform across Yango markets.
A decision process you can use in any city
- Confirm coverage. Enter your exact pickup and destination in all locally available apps. Remove any app that cannot provide a vehicle category suitable for the trip.
- Define the priority. Decide whether the first constraint is a maximum fare, a guaranteed-looking quote, a short ETA, advance scheduling, luggage capacity or a safety control.
- Compare equivalent products. Do not compare a premium vehicle in one app with an economy vehicle in another. Match passenger capacity and service level as closely as the local menus allow.
- Check the complete commitment. Note the fare model, arrival estimate, payment method, cancellation terms shown in the app and any pickup instructions.
- Book only when the trade-off is acceptable. A lower negotiated fare is not a saving if no driver accepts it in time; a higher quote may be justified for a confirmed vehicle and a critical departure.
- Verify the vehicle at pickup. Match the plate and driver details, use the available code or PIN, and share the trip when the local app supports it.
Best choice by common rider situation
You need a scheduled airport ride
Start with Bolt if it is available and its advance-booking option appears for your route. Compare the live quote and vehicle category with Yango, then use inDrive only if you have enough time to negotiate and a backup option.
You want to set the price yourself
Choose inDrive and make a realistic opening offer. Review the responding drivers’ vehicle details and arrival estimates, not just the lowest counteroffer.
You dislike fare negotiation
Use Yango where its fixed-price service is available, or Bolt when its upfront estimate and available category meet your needs. In either case, retain the receipt and check the final trip record.
You put the largest weight on published safety features
Compare the safety menus in Bolt and Yango first, because both publish multiple controls. Check inDrive’s local Safety Center as well; its documented SOS, trip-sharing and emergency-contact tools are not stated as universal in every market.
You are in a city with thin driver supply
Open all three apps at once if local rules and your phone permit it. Choose the service showing a suitable nearby vehicle and an acceptable arrival range, then cancel unused requests promptly according to the displayed terms.
Important limits on any comparison
- Global city and country counts do not measure the number of active drivers on your route.
- Published safety features may be rolled out by market, product or account type.
- Insurance is not automatically identical across countries or ride categories.
- Vehicle classes, accessibility, payment methods, fees and cancellation rules must be checked in the local app.
- There is no single independent, comparable fare or wait-time study covering all three services in one market.
The defensible conclusion is therefore city-by-city: Bolt is a convenience and scheduling candidate, inDrive is the negotiation and choice candidate, and Yango is the fixed-price and tracking candidate. Your best ride is the one that is actually available, appropriately equipped and acceptable on price and arrival time when you request it.
