For the current stable release, BM Exosphere 2 Lite v1.3.3, build the server around Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.248, and Java 21. Install the client pack as a separate launcher instance, obtain a creator-provided server archive explicitly marked v1.3.3, and keep every player and the server on that same release. Do not upload a normal client folder as a server. The project’s 187-mod count cannot be converted into a reliable RAM minimum, so size the host from actual player, world, view-distance, simulation-distance, CPU, memory, and storage measurements.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
Compatibility at a glance
These are the versions identified for the setup covered by this guide. A different Exosphere 2 Lite release may require a different loader or Java runtime, so check the release record before changing anything.

| Component | Required value for v1.3.3 | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Modpack | BM Exosphere 2 Lite v1.3.3 | Client and server files must describe the same pack release. |
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 | The game version targeted by this release. |
| Mod loader | NeoForge 21.1.248 | The server must start with the matching NeoForge build, not a Forge build selected by guesswork. |
| Java | Java 21 | The runtime specified for the researched compatibility combination. |
| Mod projects | 187 listed projects | 35 are marked client-only, none are marked server-only, and 152 have no client/server label. This is not a memory requirement. |
The project files page on CurseForge showed 21,949 downloads when captured in 2026. That number indicates listing activity, not a guarantee that every file is suitable for a dedicated server.
What Exosphere 2 Lite is
The project describes itself as “Unique sky islands meet vanilla+ with excellent performance!” The design combines floating islands and ruined structures with movement options, starter kits, and quests. The Lite edition is presented as optimized and balanced for large servers and long-term projects, but “Lite” does not mean that every ordinary client installation is automatically a valid dedicated-server package.

That distinction matters because a client instance can contain files intended only for rendering, menus, input, or local play. The compatibility index lists 35 projects as client-only, while 152 projects are not labelled. An unlabeled entry is not proof that it belongs on a server or that it can be removed safely. Use the server archive supplied for the specific release rather than attempting to infer the server contents from the client directory.
Decide where the server will run
Choose the hosting path before downloading files. Your decision affects who maintains Java and NeoForge, where backups live, how you measure performance, and how much control you have over the world directory.

| Latency | Depends on the location and upload quality of your machine. | Depends on the provider’s available region and the route to your players. |
| Player count | You can admit as many players as the hardware and network can sustain. | Plan limits and resource allocations may cap practical concurrency. |
| Updates | You control exactly when the archive, loader, and configuration change. | A panel can simplify uploads and restarts, but you still need to select the matching pack release. |
| Java/NeoForge control | You install Java 21 and the required NeoForge build yourself. | Verify that the panel exposes Java 21 and permits the NeoForge 21.1.248 combination. |
Named hosting paths
The project page names CreeperHost and MineTogether as hosting paths. MineTogether is described there as free hosting for up to three players. Treat those statements as starting points for investigation, not as a current price, capacity, service-level, or affiliate promise. Check each provider’s current regions, terms, resource allocation, backup policy, and Exosphere 2 Lite support before committing a world to it.
Prepare a clean client instance
Install the client pack separately from other modpacks. Keeping the manifest, overrides, and configuration together makes it easier to identify the exact release your players must use.

- Open the launcher or modpack manager that provides the Exosphere 2 Lite project.
- Select BM Exosphere 2 Lite v1.3.3, and confirm that the displayed Minecraft version is 1.21.1.
- Confirm that the loader shown for the instance is NeoForge 21.1.248. Do not substitute a similarly named Forge profile.
- Create the pack as its own instance rather than installing it into a shared, manually edited Minecraft directory.
- Launch the instance once on a client machine. This confirms that the launcher has downloaded the manifest, overrides, and configuration and gives you a known-good client release to compare with the server’s release label.
- Record the release number in your group’s instructions. Everyone joining the server should select v1.3.3, not merely “the latest” version, because a later update can change mods or configuration.
A successful client launch does not prove that the client folder can be copied to a dedicated server. It only establishes the client-side version that the server must match.
Obtain the matching server package
Use a creator-provided server file explicitly matching BM Exosphere 2 Lite v1.3.3. The ordinary client folder should not be uploaded blindly. A server archive can contain a different selection of files, startup assets, or configuration intended for dedicated operation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Open the project’s release or files area and select v1.3.3 rather than an unlabelled “latest” download.
- Look for a server download supplied by the project creator or an archive whose filename and documentation clearly identify v1.3.3.
- Keep the downloaded archive unchanged until you have confirmed its release label. Do not remove mods merely because the compatibility index calls them client-only, and do not add files from another release.
- Extract the archive into a new, empty server directory. A clean directory prevents remnants from another pack or an earlier test from being mistaken for required files.
- Read the archive’s included instructions for its launch process. The available release information does not establish the exact script name, Java arguments, port, or firewall commands, so those details must come from the actual archive or host documentation.
If the server archive is missing, renamed, or appears to target a different version, stop. Verify the project’s release notes or creator-provided download rather than rebuilding a server mod by mod. Reconstructing the pack from the client directory can create mismatched dependencies and hard-to-diagnose join errors.
Install Java 21 and NeoForge 21.1.248
The researched compatibility combination requires Java 21. Install a 64-bit Java 21 runtime on the machine that will run the server, then make sure the server process actually uses it. Having another Java version installed on the same computer is not enough if the launch script resolves to the wrong executable.

- Play with up to four friends or brave the dungeons alone. Battle new-and-nasty mobs across action-packed, wildly varied levels, in a quest to defeat the evil Arch-Illager!
- Install Java 21 from a distribution appropriate for your operating system and host policy.
- Check the host’s Java selection or environment settings so the command used by the server archive resolves to Java 21.
- Confirm the server package is built for NeoForge 21.1.248. Do not replace it with a newer NeoForge build simply because one is available; loader changes should follow a pack release that declares them.
- Use the launch file supplied with the server archive, or the managed host’s documented startup setting, rather than inventing JVM flags from a different modpack.
The release information does not provide a tested CPU, memory, or Java-argument baseline. Java 21 is a compatibility requirement, not a promise that any particular machine will sustain a chosen player count.
First launch and operational checks
Start with an empty test world or a disposable copy of the intended world. Perform the checks below before inviting the full group. They are operational safeguards, not results of a live compatibility test.
- Start the server using the archive’s documented process. Watch for a clean completion message and record any error that names a missing mod, wrong Java version, or wrong loader.
- Confirm operator access. Grant operator status through the server’s supported administrative method and verify that an operator can use the expected administrative controls.
- Create a world. Let the server generate a world and inspect the console for generation errors. Because Exosphere 2 Lite centers on sky islands and structures, confirm that the intended world content appears rather than assuming a vanilla-only result.
- Join with the matching client. Connect from the v1.3.3 client instance. If the client reports a missing, extra, or incompatible mod, stop and compare the client and server release labels before changing files.
- Test a second player. Have another account join, move through the starting area, and interact with the pack’s expected movement, starter, or quest systems.
- Test a restart. Stop the server using its documented method, start it again, and confirm that the world and configuration persist.
- Make a backup. Copy or snapshot the complete world and relevant configuration while the server is stopped, and document where the backup is stored and how it will be restored.
Do not advertise the address to the whole group until these checks pass. A short controlled test is easier to roll back than a damaged long-term world with many players online.
Plan resources without inventing a RAM minimum
The compatibility index lists 187 mod projects: 35 marked client-only, zero marked server-only, and 152 without a client/server label. It explicitly warns that this count is not a RAM estimate. There is therefore no defensible single “minimum RAM” number for this guide.

Measure the workload you actually intend to run. Record the following during a representative session rather than sizing from the mod count alone:
- Concurrent players, including peak rather than average attendance.
- CPU utilization and whether one thread becomes the limiting factor during exploration or world generation.
- Memory use over time, including whether the process approaches its configured limit after several hours.
- Storage type, free space, and write performance for world saves, logs, and backups.
- View distance and simulation distance, which can change the amount of active world processing.
- World activity: new-chunk exploration, structure generation, farms, entities, and redstone-heavy areas can cost more than an idle spawn.
- Network upload capacity and latency from the host to the players.
Increase one resource or setting at a time and observe the effect. A host that feels comfortable for three players in an established area may behave differently when several players generate new sky-island terrain simultaneously. Conversely, a large nominal memory allocation cannot compensate for inadequate CPU performance or a poor network path.

A managed panel can remove operating-system maintenance, but it does not remove version discipline. Before paying for a plan, ask the provider whether you can upload the creator’s v1.3.3 server archive, select Java 21, run NeoForge 21.1.248, and export your backups.
- Create the server instance in a region close to most players.
- Select Java 21 in the panel, if the control panel exposes a Java selector.
- Upload the server archive that explicitly matches v1.3.3, or use the provider’s verified modpack installer only when it identifies the same release.
- Check that the panel’s loader setting is NeoForge 21.1.248 and that it has not silently selected another Minecraft version.
- Start once, complete the archive’s documented first-run requirements, and review the console for loader or dependency errors.
- Configure scheduled backups and test downloading one backup before inviting players.
- Run the operator, world-generation, joining, and restart checks described above.
Provider interfaces differ. The available release information does not establish a universal panel path, default port, firewall rule, or launch command. Use the host’s current documentation for those platform-specific details instead of copying instructions from an unrelated modpack.
Keep every client and the server synchronized
Version drift is the most avoidable cause of modded join failures. Maintain a small release record containing the pack version, Minecraft version, NeoForge version, Java version, archive filename, and date of the last successful test.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- When the project publishes an update, download the new server archive rather than replacing individual mods in place.
- Update a test instance first and retain a backup of the current world before applying changes.
- Tell players exactly which release to select in the launcher. “Use the latest” is ambiguous once a newer file appears.
- Do not mix a v1.3.3 server with a client from another release, even if both display Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Keep the previous server files and a restorable world backup until the updated instance has passed joining and restart tests.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The server will not start
First verify that the process is using Java 21 and that the archive is the v1.3.3 server package. Next confirm NeoForge 21.1.248. Capture the first meaningful error rather than repeatedly restarting. If the archive’s instructions name a required working directory or launch file, follow those instructions exactly. Do not solve a loader error by adding random mods from the client instance.
A client is rejected for missing or extra mods
Compare the client instance’s release label with the server archive’s label. Check Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge 21.1.248 on both sides. A client-only project being present in the client does not prove it should be copied to the server; use the creator’s server package as the authority.
The world loads, but performance degrades with players
Measure CPU, memory, storage, view distance, simulation distance, and concurrent players while reproducing the slowdown. Note whether the problem occurs during new-world exploration or in an established area. Change one setting or resource at a time, and keep a record so you can reverse a change. The 187-project count cannot identify the bottleneck.
The server archive cannot be found
Check the exact v1.3.3 release entry and its notes. If the project has renamed or temporarily removed the archive, wait for a creator-provided replacement or clarification. Do not publish a guessed download link and do not assemble a dedicated server by deleting files from the client pack.

Players outside the host cannot connect
The release material does not specify a default port or firewall command. Confirm the address, port, firewall, and provider networking settings using the documentation for your operating system or host. Test locally first, then from a separate network. Keep networking changes separate from modpack changes so a connection problem is not mistaken for a version mismatch.
Information that must be verified from the actual archive
This guide deliberately does not give a launch command, JVM memory flags, default port, firewall recipe, or tested CPU/RAM baseline. Those values are not established by the available release information and can differ between operating systems and hosting panels. Before publishing a copy-and-paste deployment sheet, inspect the v1.3.3 server archive itself and document its actual files, scripts, and instructions. Until then, the safe procedure is to use the archive’s own launch documentation, Java 21, NeoForge 21.1.248, and a controlled validation run.
