For most keyboard buyers, “Bluetooth vs. 2.4 GHz” means Bluetooth pairing versus a keyboard’s dedicated USB receiver. Bluetooth itself also operates in the 2.4 GHz range, so the connection label alone does not tell you which keyboard will be faster, more reliable, or last longer. Compare the specific keyboard, receiver, computer, and usage conditions instead.
What is the difference between Bluetooth and a 2.4 GHz keyboard?
Bluetooth is a wireless technology that uses the 2.4 GHz band. A keyboard described as “2.4 GHz” usually communicates through its own USB receiver using a maker-specific wireless implementation. The meaningful distinction is therefore usually Bluetooth pairing versus a dedicated receiver, not two separate frequency bands.

Some products offer both choices. Logitech describes Logi Bolt as BLE-based and supports compatible keyboards connecting either directly over Bluetooth or through a Logi Bolt receiver. Check the exact keyboard and receiver compatibility before assuming the receiver is included or interchangeable. Logitech’s Logi Bolt overview explains its connection options.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDoes a 2.4 GHz keyboard have less input lag than Bluetooth?
Not as a universal rule. Latency depends on the keyboard’s electronics and firmware, its radio connection, the receiver or host Bluetooth implementation, drivers, operating-system behavior, and the test method. A connection interval or polling rate is not by itself a measurement of the time from a keypress to the computer receiving it.

- Made responsibly: Designed to last, K250 plastic parts are durably made with minimum 64% recycled plastic (3) to withstand everyday use
Microsoft’s Windows Hardware Lab Kit describes a Bluetooth HID keyboard test that “Sends a set of keystrokes and measure the time it takes to receive them.” That is a test method, not a universal latency result for Bluetooth keyboards. Microsoft’s latency test description does not establish that every Bluetooth keyboard has a particular delay.
Logitech reports typical latency below 8 ms for Logi Bolt in a clean environment and says noise can increase it. This is a manufacturer-reported figure for its own implementation, not a category-wide benchmark or a direct comparison with every Bluetooth keyboard. Logitech also lists a 7.5 ms minimum connection interval and 2 Mbit/s enhanced data rate for Logi Bolt; neither figure should be read as guaranteed end-to-end keypress latency. See the Logi Bolt USB-C Receiver white paper.

- 3 Devices Switch with A Single Clicking: This keyboard is able to connect to 3 devices at the same time. You can switch between 3 devices with a single key clicking.
- Ergonomic design: Stainless steel material gives heavy duty feeling, low-profile keys, full size keys, arrow keys, number pad, shortcuts offer quiet and comfortable typing.
- Broad Compatibility: Use with all four major operating systems supporting Bluetooth (iOS, Android, Mac OS and Windows), including Computer, Desktop, PC, Laptop / iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad, iPad Min, iPhone, Smartphone / Android Tablets like Samsung Galaxy, Surface etc.
- 6-Month Battery Life: Rechargeable lithium battery with an industry-high capacity lasts for 6 months with single charge (based on 2 hours non-stop use per day).
- Package contents: Arteck Stainless Bluetooth Keyboard, USB charging cable, welcome guide, our 24-month warranty and friendly customer service.
If responsiveness matters for your use, compare independent or manufacturer latency results only when the keyboard model, host, test conditions, and measurement method are clear. For ordinary typing, do not assume a connection label alone predicts what you will feel.
Which connection is more reliable in a crowded wireless environment?
Both Bluetooth and dedicated receivers share the 2.4 GHz environment with other wireless devices, so congestion can affect either. Results depend on local interference, receiver placement, radio design, and the computer’s Bluetooth hardware and software.

- Reliable and Hassle-Free: Your cordless keyboard won’t require new batteries for up to 36 months (may vary based on user and computing conditions); it is also easy to clean and spill-resistant
Logitech describes Logi Bolt as using frequency hopping and designing for crowded environments, while also acknowledging that interference can affect performance. That supports a claim about Logi Bolt’s design intent, not a blanket conclusion that every 2.4 GHz receiver outperforms every Bluetooth connection. If a keyboard drops keystrokes or disconnects, try moving its receiver away from the computer or other sources of interference, and check the keyboard maker’s setup guidance.
Which wireless keyboard connection has better battery life?
The connection type alone does not determine keyboard runtime. Battery capacity, backlighting, usage, and power settings all matter, so compare estimates only when their conditions match.

Logitech’s general battery guidance says Bluetooth connections typically consume less battery than 2.4 GHz wireless connections. It is broad manufacturer guidance, not a controlled, keyboard-specific head-to-head test; it does not prove that a Bluetooth version of a particular keyboard will last longer than its receiver mode. Logitech also advises that keyboard runtime varies by model and settings and recommends reducing or disabling backlighting to extend it. Logitech’s battery guidance gives model-specific examples: up to five months for MX Keys S with backlighting disabled and four months for Signature Slim Solar+. These are manufacturer claims, not an apples-to-apples comparison of connection modes.
Keep the keyboard’s battery separate from the computer’s power use: a computer’s Bluetooth-radio power figures do not tell you how long the keyboard battery will last.

What should you check before choosing Bluetooth or a receiver?
| Consideration | Bluetooth pairing | Dedicated receiver |
|---|---|---|
| USB port | Does not require a keyboard receiver in a USB port. | Requires a compatible receiver and a suitable port or adapter. |
| Device and OS support | Confirm that the keyboard supports Bluetooth pairing with your computer, tablet, or other host. | Confirm that the keyboard, receiver, and host are compatible; do not assume receivers are interchangeable. |
| Latency and reliability | Depends on the keyboard and the host’s Bluetooth implementation, among other factors. | Depends on the keyboard’s receiver protocol and placement, among other factors. |
| Multiple-host use | Check whether the keyboard supports the number of devices and switching workflow you need. | Check whether the keyboard supports the number of devices and switching workflow you need; receiver support varies by model. |

| Wake and idle behavior | Depends on the keyboard, computer, operating system, and drivers. | Depends on the keyboard, computer, operating system, and drivers. |
For a specific product example with both connection approaches, Logitech identifies MX Keys for Business in its Logi Bolt performance materials and documents direct Bluetooth and receiver options for compatible products. Confirm the exact model’s connection modes, included receiver, and host compatibility before buying; a product family name alone does not guarantee identical contents or features.
Does Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz interfere with Wi-Fi?
Both Bluetooth and dedicated receiver keyboards use the 2.4 GHz band, where other wireless activity can also occur. Interference is therefore possible with either approach, but its practical effect depends on the devices and conditions nearby. A receiver-based connection is not automatically immune, and the shared band does not mean every user will experience a problem.
