The US WordPress plans shown by Bluehost pair 36-month introductory terms with higher 36-month renewal rates. Bluehost also advertises a 99.99% uptime SLA, but that is a company commitment, not independent evidence of actual uptime.
What Bluehost costs after the introductory term

| WordPress plan | Introductory price and term | 36-month renewal price | Sites and storage | Listed fit and features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $3.99 per month for 36 months | $9.99 per month for 36 months | 10 sites; 10 GB | First site or blog; chat support, no phone support |
| Business | $6.99 per month for 36 months | $13.99 per month for 36 months | 50 sites; 50 GB | Multiple sites; phone support and malware detection and removal |
| eCommerce Essentials | $14.99 per month for 36 months | $21.99 per month for 36 months | 100 sites; 100 GB | Commerce features, including payment processing and WooCommerce auto-install |
The introductory monthly amounts apply to a 36-month term; they are not month-to-month prices. Multiplying the displayed monthly rate by 36 gives the term’s price before any applicable taxes or checkout-specific charges: $143.64 for Starter, $251.64 for Business, and $539.64 for eCommerce Essentials. The corresponding 36-month renewal totals at the listed rates are $359.64, $503.64, and $791.64. Verify the actual checkout total and renewal terms, since promotional offers and prices can change.
Bluehost’s separate shared web-hosting page also shows a Starter offer at $3.99 per month for 36 months and a $9.99-per-month renewal for that term. Shared hosting and WordPress plan pages are distinct product categories, so compare like with like rather than assuming their plan terms and features are interchangeable. What the plans include—and what to compare
Bluehost’s WordPress pricing page advertises features such as a free domain for the first year, SSL, CDN, weekly backups, staging, and managed WordPress updates, with availability varying by plan. Do not assume add-ons stay free beyond their stated included period. Check the plan details and checkout terms for the feature you need.
- Capacity: Starter lists 10 websites and 10 GB of storage; Business lists 50 and 50 GB; eCommerce Essentials lists 100 and 100 GB. Pick based on the sites you expect to host and their storage needs, not just today’s count.
- Support: Starter lists chat support but no phone support. Business and eCommerce Essentials list phone support. The plan comparison establishes available channels, not how quickly or effectively support resolves problems.
- Security and maintenance: Compare the exact backup, SSL, malware, staging, and update features shown for each plan. For example, malware detection and removal is listed with Business; feature inclusion should be confirmed on the current plan page.
- Commerce: The eCommerce Essentials tier lists payment processing and WooCommerce auto-install. If you do not need store-related tools, compare its higher price against the lower tiers’ capacity and features instead of paying for a commerce tier by default.

How to choose a plan
- Set the full time horizon. Compare the amount due for the initial 36-month term with the listed renewal rate for the next 36 months. Do not use the promotional monthly figure as your long-run budget.
- Match capacity to the project. Choose the smallest plan that has enough websites and storage for your expected workload, while allowing for growth.
- Decide which support channel matters. If phone support is a requirement, Starter does not list it; Business and eCommerce Essentials do.
- Check feature-level needs. Confirm backups, SSL, CDN, staging, malware protection, and update management on the exact plan and checkout page. Note whether an included feature is limited to a period or tier.
- Pay for commerce only if you need it. Consider eCommerce Essentials when its store tools fit your setup; otherwise, compare the lower tiers against your actual requirements.
What the uptime and recommendation claims establish
Bluehost advertises a 99.99% uptime SLA on its plan material and describes its shared-hosting promise as based on server and Apache performance. This is Bluehost’s stated commitment, not an independent measurement of customer uptime. The available evidence does not establish independent speed or uptime results, comparative support quality, measured customer satisfaction, or that Bluehost is better value than competing hosts.

Bluehost also says it is recommended by WordPress.org. Treat that as Bluehost’s own statement rather than independent proof that a particular plan is right for your site. Review the plan details and decide based on price, term, included features, and capacity.

How the 30-day money-back guarantee works
Bluehost says hosting purchases are covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee, subject to exceptions. Its terms say most add-ons, including domains, are not covered like hosting. If you keep a domain included at no charge after cancelling, Bluehost says a non-refundable domain fee may be deducted from the refund. Review the current terms and checkout details before relying on a refund for the full amount paid.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. So, is Bluehost worth it?
It can be a reasonable candidate for a new or growing WordPress site if the plan’s site and storage limits, support channels, and included tools match the project—and the renewal price remains acceptable in your budget. It is a weaker fit if the decision depends on the lowest advertised monthly amount, if you need phone support on Starter, or if you require independently verified performance evidence before choosing a host. Bluehost’s official pages describe its offers and claims; they do not establish real-world superiority over alternatives.
