Hyperledger’s on-demand learning page lists the November 10, 2022 workshop recording. There is also an official description for an earlier session held January 20, 2022; it notes that a companion document is available to follow along. The two recordings are historical resources, and the available listings do not establish that either reflects today’s Aries APIs or installation process.

The attendance and view counts in the table are figures Indicio reported in 2023, not independently verified audits or current view totals. The earlier-version warning appears on the Hyperledger community event page, which says that “some of the material covered in this earlier version may no longer be up to date and may not reflect the most recent developments in the Aries project.”
What you need before following the exercises
The archived event listing names Linux, Docker, Indy-CLI, downloaded repositories, and access to the Hyperledger Aries Discord as preparation. These are historical prerequisites for the archived event, not a present-day compatibility guarantee. The archive does not establish which current versions to install or whether its repositories and commands still work unchanged.

Before installing anything, consult current project documentation for supported operating systems, tool versions, and setup steps. Treat the recording as a conceptual guide, and avoid relying on old commands where current documentation differs. The archive’s warning applies especially to installation and step-by-step instructions.
How the credential exercise fits together
The workshop’s described workflow connects network tooling with Aries components. At a high level, learners examine the Indy ecosystem, use Aries to establish a connection, issue a credential, and verify it. The official listings establish these topics, but do not provide enough current technical detail to prescribe a reliable command-by-command procedure today.

- Orient yourself to decentralized identity. Review the identity principles and verifiable credential data model presented in the workshop.
- Explore the Indy-based network. The curriculum introduces SelfServe, Indyscan, and Indy CLI as tools for understanding the network environment.
- Move into Aries. The session introduces Aries and Aries Toolbox, then covers connections between participants in a credential exchange.
- Follow the credential lifecycle. The described exercise proceeds through issuing a credential and verifying it. Use current Aries documentation for implementation details rather than assuming the archived steps remain valid.
Is the workshop still worth watching?
It can be useful if you want a structured first look at how decentralized identity concepts, Indy network tooling, Aries connections, and verifiable credentials relate. Its strongest value is the learning sequence and recorded demonstration. Its limitation is age: project tools and instructions can change, and Hyperledger explicitly warns that earlier material may no longer be current.
Hyperledger described the workshop as free and intended for developers and architects learning Aries and decentralized identity. The archived page also mentions a coupon for paid Hyperledger courses and certifications offered to attendees at that time. That is a historical offer, not confirmation of a current discount or currently available course.
