Its latest cited weekly update said Bitmine acquired 15,112 ETH in the week through October 4 and held 6,016,414 ETH afterward.
What Tom Lee’s 5% cap means
Lee’s remarks, reported from his Token2049 Singapore appearance, set a limit on future accumulation. Cointelegraph quoted him saying, “That’s a hard cap. The cap does not specify a date when Bitmine will reach the limit, nor does it say purchases cease as soon as the company announces the policy. It means the company says it will not keep accumulating past that threshold.

Separately, The Block reported on October 5 that Bitmine said its holdings represented 4.9% of Ethereum supply and that the company had bought ETH every week since launching its treasury strategy on June 30, 2025. How much Ether does Bitmine own?
The latest dated holding in the cited reports is 6,016,414 ETH after the purchase for the week through October 4, 2026, as reported by Unchained. The Block’s October 5 coverage separately gave the company’s reported share as 4.9% of supply. These numbers should be read with their dates and sources attached: the percentage depends on the supply denominator and snapshot used, and neither figure establishes Bitmine’s holdings today.

What could change as Bitmine approaches the limit
A 5% ceiling could eventually mean less buying from a company that has reported weekly purchases since its treasury strategy began. But the available figures do not establish when it would reach that ceiling, how it will measure supply for the limit, or what effect its future buying decisions will have on Ether’s price. The reports document company activity and a stated policy, not a causal market-price effect.
