BigRock offers self-managed VPS hosting from ₹699/month and fully managed VPS hosting from ₹6,448/month, according to its overview page accessed October 7, 2026. Those are starting prices, not equivalent server configurations. The practical choice is whether you want to administer, secure and back up the server yourself or pay more for broader operational assistance.
Is BigRock VPS hosting worth it?
BigRock VPS may suit buyers who specifically want a virtual private server and can match the management level to their skills and budget. Self-managed hosting has a much lower displayed starting price, but BigRock places substantial maintenance work on the customer. Fully managed hosting costs more at its listed starting price and advertises assistance with setup, security, monitoring, optimization and troubleshooting.

The available evidence does not establish BigRock’s real-world uptime, workload performance, latency by location or representative customer sentiment. BigRock’s managed page displayed a Google rating graphic of 4.4 out of 5 from 1,734 reviews when accessed October 7, 2026; that is a dated vendor-displayed snapshot, not an independently sampled survey. HostAdvice published a separate 2026 editorial review with its own methodology and category scores, but those ratings are the publisher’s assessment, not measured performance or proof of broad customer consensus.
How much does BigRock VPS cost?
BigRock’s overview page displayed these starting prices in Indian rupees when accessed October 7, 2026:
#1 Best Overall
| Option | Displayed starting price | What the figure establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Self-managed VPS | ₹699/month | Starting price only; not tied here to a matched configuration. |
| Fully managed VPS | ₹6,448/month | Starting price only; not tied here to a matched configuration. |
These figures cannot show which option offers better value for a given workload: they are not prices for identical compute resources. Configuration-specific prices and renewal prices were not established in the cited page extracts. Check the selected server, billing term and renewal price in checkout before ordering.
What is the difference between managed and self-managed VPS?
Self-managed: lower entry price, more responsibility
With self-managed VPS, expect to handle routine server administration. BigRock’s server addendum assigns customers responsibility for operating-system and application patching and for maintaining backups. Its support obligation is limited to specified infrastructure, deployment, OS installation and reverse DNS issues; it is not a substitute for ongoing server administration.
Rank #2
BigRock says self-managed plans can be upgraded but not downgraded. Its page also lists cPanel or Plesk as checkout choices, a dedicated IP for India plans and Acronis backup as an optional add-on. Confirm the specific plan and location at checkout rather than assuming every feature applies to every tier.

Fully managed: broader operational assistance
BigRock’s comparison describes broader assistance with server setup, security, monitoring, optimization and troubleshooting for managed VPS. This can be a better fit if you need help with ongoing server operations, but “managed” should not be read as a guarantee of a particular response time or outcome; no such independently verified service measurements are established here.

- Intel Xeon E-2224 Quad-Core 3.4GHz 8MB CPU, Up To 4.6GHz Turbo

- 16TB (4 x 4TB) 7.2K 6Gb/s SATA 3.5" HDDs in RAID
- Hard drives and memory upgrades included separately NOT installed, installation required.
The managed VPS page advertises a dedicated IP, 10 GB of backup space, DDoS protection, Linux choices including AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux and Ubuntu, and support through ticket, phone and chat. These are listed inclusions and claims: confirm they apply to the exact tier and location you select. BigRock states free migration is available on managed plans purchased for six months or more.
Does BigRock VPS have root access?
HostAdvice’s 2026 review reports root access among the features of BigRock’s self-managed VPS offering. Root access enables server-level configuration, but it also leaves the administrator responsible for changes and maintenance. Verify access details for the exact plan before purchase; the cited official-page extracts do not establish that every managed configuration exposes the same level of access.
Rank #4
Does BigRock back up my VPS?
For self-managed VPS, BigRock’s terms place backup responsibility on the customer. Its self-managed page lists Acronis backup as an optional add-on, so do not assume a backup service is included in the base price. The managed page advertises 10 GB of backup space; check what the selected plan covers and how backups are configured before relying on them. A backup-space inclusion is not, by itself, evidence of a particular backup schedule or recovery guarantee.

Is BigRock VPS refundable?
BigRock’s published policy lists unmanaged VPS in India and the United States as eligible for a 30-day money-back guarantee, subject to policy conditions. Managed VPS is listed as ineligible. The self-managed product page says its guarantee applies only to plans longer than one month.
Best Value
The policy also limits eligibility to first-time accounts; renewals and auto-renewals are not refundable, and separately purchased add-ons are nonrefundable. Read the current terms before ordering: the server addendum cited here says it was last modified April 13, 2024, and terms may have changed.

| Choose | If this describes you | Key trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Self-managed VPS | You can administer and secure a server, apply patches and maintain backups. | Lower listed starting price, but routine maintenance and much troubleshooting remain your responsibility. |
| Fully managed VPS | You value assistance with setup and ongoing server operations. | Higher listed starting price, with broader advertised configuration, monitoring, optimization and support coverage. |
BigRock’s addendum also lists prohibited uses, including public IRC daemons, malicious bots, illegal-content BitTorrent activity, open or public proxies, and activity that harms normal server operations. Review the current acceptable-use and server terms if your planned workload could fall near those restrictions.
Quick Recap
What to verify before ordering
- Compare the exact CPU, memory, storage, location and billing term—not only the two starting prices.
- Check the renewal price and any control-panel or backup add-on charges at checkout.
- Confirm which advertised inclusions apply to your selected plan and data-center location.
- For unmanaged service, plan how you will patch the OS and applications, secure the server and keep restorable backups.
- Read the current refund, migration and server-use terms, including eligibility requirements and exclusions.
- If uptime, latency or workload speed is critical, seek independently measured evidence for your region and workload; the cited sources do not establish those results.
