For a broad console game library, PlayStation Plus Extra is the closest researched alternative to Xbox Game Pass—if you own or are willing to switch to PlayStation hardware. PlayStation Plus Premium adds classics, game trials and cloud streaming. On PC, Ubisoft+ is a better fit for players focused on Ubisoft titles than for anyone seeking a broad, multi-publisher library.

Sony says subscriptions continue until cancelled; Ubisoft says cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing cycle. Availability, prices and catalog contents can change.
PlayStation Plus Extra: the closest broad console-library alternative
Sony describes Extra’s Game Catalog as hundreds of games, with new titles added regularly. That makes it the closest option here for a player who wants a rotating console library rather than access to one publisher’s releases. But a large catalog is useful only if it includes games you want: check the current catalog before subscribing, and remember that titles can leave.

Hardware is the main trade-off for Xbox players. PS Plus console downloads require PlayStation hardware, and Sony says PS5 games can only be downloaded on a PS5. If you already play on Xbox or PC, account for the cost and inconvenience of switching platforms rather than comparing subscription fees alone. Sony’s PlayStation Plus page has current plan information.
PlayStation Plus Premium: pay more for specific extras
Premium includes Extra’s Game Catalog and adds the Classics Catalog, game trials and cloud streaming. It is worth considering when one or more of those features matter to you; the higher tier is not simply a guaranteed better choice for everyone who wants a big library.

Ubisoft+: a narrower PC-first option
Ubisoft+ fits players whose library priorities are mainly Ubisoft games. The US Premium page advertises 145+ games on PC, with new releases on day one and early access when available. Ubisoft+ Classics costs less but offers an evolving selection of standard editions. Neither should be mistaken for a broad catalog spanning many publishers.

- FOUR GENERATIONS OF GAMES — Play thousands of games from XBOX Series X|S, XBOX One, XBOX 360, and Original XBOX, with many titles enhanced for better visuals and performance on XBOX Series X. This is an all-digital console; use with digital games only. Console does not play physical discs.
Premium editions do not necessarily include every premium item or add-on. Review the listing for each game you care about and the current plan terms at Ubisoft’s US Ubisoft+ page. The page also lists “Play on Xbox” for Premium; check the service’s current terms and game availability for the specific platform and title.
Check Xbox Game Pass before switching
If price is the reason you are considering an alternative, compare against current Xbox terms first. In an April 21, 2026 announcement, Team Xbox said US Game Pass Ultimate dropped from $29.99 to $22.99 per month and PC Game Pass from $16.49 to $13.99 per month. The announcement notes that prices may vary by region, so treat these as US figures reported on that date, not universal or permanent prices. Team Xbox’s April 21, 2026 update.

The same announcement said future Call of Duty releases would join Ultimate and PC Game Pass around the following holiday season—about a year after release—instead of at launch; current Call of Duty titles would remain available. If launch access matters to you, confirm the policy near the release you are considering, since service terms can change. Xbox also describes EA Play and Ubisoft+ Classics as benefits within its comparison of Game Pass plans; those inclusions are not, by themselves, evidence that either is a standalone broad-library substitute. - Start with your hardware. If you already own a PS5 and want a broad console catalog, look at Extra first. If you mainly play on PC and want Ubisoft releases, compare Ubisoft+ plans.
- Check the games, not just the count. Search the live catalog for the specific titles you intend to play and consider whether you are comfortable with a rotating selection.
- Match the tier to the feature. Choose Premium only if classics, trials or streaming justify the higher price; choose Ubisoft+ Premium over Classics only if its newer releases or other listed benefits matter to you.
- Compare current recurring costs and limits. Confirm local pricing, renewal and cancellation terms, regional availability, and whether the games you want can be downloaded or streamed on your device.
- Recheck Xbox’s current offer if leaving for price or launch access. The April 2026 price and Call of Duty policy may not describe later terms or every region.
Why advertised game counts do not identify a winner
The figures describe different things: Sony says Extra has “hundreds of games,” Ubisoft advertises “145+ games on PC” for Premium, and Microsoft’s comparison page describes Ubisoft+ Classics as “50+ iconic games.” They are not like-for-like catalog audits, and they do not establish which service has the best value. Catalog scope, platform, rotation and included editions all differ. Judge the services by the games and features available to you, not by treating those counts as a shared measure.
