There is no single winner for every definition of “unlimited.” Xbox currently uses unlimited language for its listed plans, GeForce NOW offers the clearest high-end PC streaming but imposes a measured premium allowance, and Sony and Amazon require you to judge eligibility and catalog breadth rather than assume unlimited access.

What “unlimited” means in cloud gaming
Cloud services can restrict play in several different ways. A monthly allowance limits total time across the billing period. A session limit ends an individual stream even when you have monthly time remaining. Queue priority can also change after a plan’s allowance is exhausted, and a catalog subscription can feel unlimited while still excluding games you want.
Before subscribing, check four separate questions:
- Time: Is there a monthly hour allowance, a per-session timeout or both?
- Ownership: Are games included, or must you own them in a connected store?
- Eligibility: Is the specific game supported for cloud streaming in your country and on your device?
- Cost: Does the advertised fee include the games, or do additional channels, purchases or premium hours apply?
This distinction is especially important when replacing Xbox Cloud Gaming. A service can provide better image quality without providing more total hours, while another can offer a large included catalog but no access to your existing PC library.
NVIDIA GeForce NOW: best for owned PC games and high-end streaming
How the model works
GeForce NOW connects supported store accounts and runs compatible games on NVIDIA’s remote hardware. You generally bring the license you already hold through a supported PC storefront rather than receiving a universal game catalog with the membership. That makes it useful if your library is spread across Steam, Epic, Ubisoft Connect or another supported PC store, but it also means a game must be both owned and supported before you can stream it.

The current premium allowance is 100 hours per month for Performance and Ultimate members. NVIDIA says additional premium hours can be purchased after the allowance is used. Qualifying Founders memberships retain unlimited playtime as long as the membership does not lapse; upgrading a Founders account to Ultimate applies the monthly limit. Treat “unlimited GeForce NOW” claims as referring to that specific grandfathered status, not to new premium subscriptions.
Image quality and hardware
Ultimate uses RTX 5080 rigs and supports up to 5K HDR at 120 FPS. Performance reaches up to 1440p at 60 FPS. Those are ceiling values, not guarantees: the game, display, local network, data-center load and device output can reduce the result. A television or browser may also expose fewer resolution and frame-rate options than the native app on a compatible computer.

NVIDIA recommends 45 Mbps for up to 4K at 120 FPS and 65 Mbps for up to 5120×2180 at 120 FPS. A fast connection alone is not enough; latency, packet loss and congested Wi-Fi can cause input delay or image degradation. Ethernet or a clean 5 GHz/6 GHz Wi-Fi connection is preferable for a fixed setup.

Who should choose it
- Choose it if you already own PC games and want one service to reach several screens.
- Choose it if resolution, HDR and frame rate matter more than receiving a large included catalog.
- Look elsewhere if you routinely play more than the premium monthly allowance and do not have qualifying Founders status.
- Check each important game before subscribing; store ownership does not guarantee cloud support.
Basic setup
- Create or sign in to a GeForce NOW account and select the membership available in your region.
- Install the supported app or open the supported browser experience on your device.
- Link the PC-store accounts where your games are licensed.
- Search for a supported title, authenticate with the requested store account and start the stream.

Amazon Luna: simplest catalog-first option
How games are supplied
Luna is organized around channels rather than a single universal library. Amazon says Prime members receive a rotating selection of games. Paid channels include Luna+, Family, Retro, Jackbox and Ubisoft+. The launch page recorded more than 100 games in Luna+ and more than 35 in the Family Channel at that time; those counts are page-era figures, not a current guarantee.
The same launch material listed Luna+ at $9.99 per month after introductory pricing, Family at $5.99, Retro and Jackbox at $4.99 each, and Ubisoft+ at $17.99. These are historical values and must be checked against the current offer in your country. Channel prices do not necessarily describe every game, promotion or Prime benefit available today.
Devices and household use
Amazon lists Fire TV, Fire tablets, Windows PCs, Chromebooks, Macs, iPhones, Android phones and iPads. That makes Luna particularly convenient in homes already using Fire TV or Amazon tablets. Luna Couch is designed for couch co-op, allowing additional players to join a supported session with compatible controllers and, where available, the required Luna account flow.

What Luna does not solve
Luna is not the straightforward answer to “How do I stream every PC game I own?” Its channel model emphasizes included catalogs and channel eligibility rather than connecting a broad personal PC-store library. A title can rotate out, require a particular channel or be unavailable in your territory. Confirm the current channel lineup before choosing Luna for one specific game.
Who should choose it
- Choose Luna when you want a ready-made catalog instead of managing multiple PC storefront accounts.
- Choose it when Prime, Fire TV or household couch play is already central to your setup.
- Choose another service when you need published 4K/120 specifications, broad PC-store ownership or a guaranteed long-term place for one title.
PlayStation Plus Premium: stream eligible PS5 games without downloading
What can be streamed
Sony says Premium members can stream select PS5 games from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, Classics Catalog and selected digital games they own. Streaming avoids downloading the game and its updates, but the feature is title-specific: owning a digital game does not automatically make it streamable.
The service is therefore a poor general replacement for Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC, Android TV or arbitrary game libraries. It is a focused option for people whose primary screens are a PS5 and PlayStation Portal and whose games appear with the stream option.
Connection requirements
Sony requires at least 5 Mbps upload and download to establish a cloud-streaming session. Its recommended rates are 13 Mbps for 720p, 23 Mbps for 1080p, 38 Mbps for 1440p and 52 Mbps for 4K. These recommendations describe the connection to the service; your home network still needs enough capacity for other users and devices.
Country and hardware limits
Sony’s published country list includes the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom and many European countries. Eligibility is regional, and the available catalog can differ by country. Sony identifies PS5 and PlayStation Portal as supported streaming destinations in the cited documentation. Check the account region and the title’s eligibility before buying Premium for cloud play.

- Confirm that PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming is offered for your account country.
- Sign in on a PS5 or PlayStation Portal with the Premium account.
- Open the Game Catalog, Classics Catalog or your digital library.
- Select a title that displays a streaming option and start it without downloading.
- If the stream option is absent, check the game’s region, edition and eligibility rather than repeatedly reinstalling the app.
How Xbox compares in 2026
Microsoft’s Xbox Wire guide dated December 19, 2025 says Game Pass Essential, Premium and Ultimate include unlimited cloud gaming. The plans have different catalogs and benefits, so “unlimited” does not mean every Xbox game is included in every tier. Xbox lists support for Xbox consoles, Windows and Mac PCs, Chromebooks, handhelds, a Steam Deck beta, Android, iOS/iPadOS, selected smart TVs and streaming devices, and Meta Quest.
Xbox recommends at least 20 Mbps for a stable connection. Most games require a gamepad; Xbox names the Xbox Wireless Controller and compatible 8BitDo, GameSir, Backbone and DualSense controllers. Because plan names, prices and cloud policies can change, verify the live Xbox plan page immediately before comparing it with an alternative.

You own a large Steam or Epic library
Start with GeForce NOW. Its connected-store model lets you use supported purchases and its top tier targets substantially higher resolution and frame rates than the figures published for the other alternatives. Check support for your most-played games and estimate whether 100 hours covers your monthly use.
You want included games on a television
Luna is the catalog-first choice, especially with Fire TV and Prime already in the home. Compare the current channel contents, not the historical launch-page game counts, and include every channel fee required for the games your household actually plays.
You own a PS5 or PlayStation Portal
PlayStation Plus Premium is the most coherent fit. It can remove downloads and updates for eligible PS5 streams, but it is limited to supported titles, supported countries and the listed PlayStation hardware.

You simply want the most playtime
First check whether your current Xbox plan already has unlimited cloud gaming in your region. If you move to another service, do not infer unlimited use from the absence of a prominently advertised cap: Amazon and Sony’s cited materials do not establish an unlimited allowance, while NVIDIA explicitly sets a premium monthly allowance.
You need the widest device mix
GeForce NOW and Xbox list the broadest spread of computers, mobile devices and living-room hardware in the cited material. Luna is strong across Amazon and mainstream mobile devices. PlayStation streaming is intentionally narrower, centered on PS5 and Portal.
Connection and controller checklist
- Measure both download and upload speed from the room where you play; Sony requires 5 Mbps in each direction to establish a session.
- For high-end GeForce NOW modes, reserve the 45 Mbps or 65 Mbps recommendations for the stream and leave headroom for other traffic.
- Prefer Ethernet for a console, television or desktop. If using Wi-Fi, move close to the router and avoid congested channels.
- Pause large downloads, cloud backups and 4K video streams while diagnosing stutter.
- Use a compatible gamepad. Xbox says most cloud games require one and specifically identifies Xbox Wireless Controller, compatible 8BitDo, GameSir, Backbone and DualSense models.
- Keep the controller charged and connected before launching the stream; pairing interruptions can look like network lag.
Troubleshooting common failures
The stream looks blurry
Lower motion in the game, other household traffic and Wi-Fi interference can force adaptive streaming to reduce image quality. Stop competing traffic, move to Ethernet or a cleaner wireless band, then select a lower target resolution if the connection cannot sustain the service’s recommendation.

Latency is affected by distance to the service data center, local Wi-Fi, display processing and controller connection. Test with the television’s game mode, a wired network and a directly paired controller. A speed test showing high throughput does not rule out latency or packet loss.
A game is missing
For GeForce NOW, verify that the game is in a supported store and that the correct store account is linked. For Luna, check the channel and current regional catalog. For PlayStation, confirm that the title is eligible for streaming in your account country and edition. For Xbox, check the plan-specific catalog rather than assuming every Game Pass title streams.
You hit a GeForce NOW allowance
Performance and Ultimate members can purchase additional premium hours according to NVIDIA’s current policy. If that recurring cost is unacceptable, compare the total hours you actually play with Xbox’s current unlimited wording or use a catalog service whose current terms fit your usage. Do not upgrade a qualifying Founders membership casually: NVIDIA says moving to Ultimate applies the monthly limit.
The service is unavailable in your country
Cloud gaming rights and hardware support are regional. Recheck the provider’s country list, your account region and the device model. A VPN may violate service terms or worsen latency, so it is not a dependable substitute for regional availability.

Bottom line for a purchase decision
Choose GeForce NOW for the best combination of owned-PC-game access and high-end streaming, accepting the 100-hour premium allowance. Choose Amazon Luna for a simple, channel-based catalog and living-room play, after checking current prices and game rotation. Choose PlayStation Plus Premium when PS5 or Portal is your main hardware and the games you want are explicitly streamable. If your priority is truly the largest amount of cloud play rather than a different catalog or higher video quality, verify Xbox’s current Essential, Premium or Ultimate terms first, because Xbox currently advertises unlimited cloud gaming for those plans.
