ScreenshotNeo is the first service agencies should try if they want clean website captures without paying for bot checks, blank pages, or failed loads. The right API for an agency, however, depends on more than the number of rendering options: it must reliably capture each client’s pages in the intended state, at the right viewport and cadence, and deliver results into the team’s review or archive workflow.
This is a requirements-led shortlist, not a benchmark ranking. The capabilities below come from vendor product and documentation pages, not independent rendering, load, security, or price tests. Confirm current plan limits and terms, then pilot representative client pages before standardizing on a service.

How to choose a screenshot API for an agency
A screenshot API renders a URL—and, with some services, supplied HTML—in a browser and returns an image or related output. For client work, the key question is whether it captures the page state your team actually needs, consistently and at operational scale.
Match the capture to the review task
- Viewport capture: useful for a defined screen-sized view, such as a mobile or desktop review.
- Full-page capture: useful for recording a long page, but check how the service handles lazy-loaded content and page height.
- Element capture: useful when a review is focused on a component rather than the entire page.
- HTML capture: useful for rendering supplied markup where supported; it is not the same workflow as visiting a live client URL.
Compare exact width and height, device emulation, pixel density, output format, JavaScript rendering, fonts, selector waits, and timing controls. A screenshot that finishes quickly but captures before a client page has settled may be less useful than a slower, correctly staged capture.

Check access and page state
Some client pages depend on cookies, headers, or authentication. Confirm that the API supports the access method you need, and review how credentials and resulting captures are handled before sending private client data. Only capture login-gated pages when you are authorized to do so.
Also decide what should happen to cookie dialogs, ads, chat widgets, and other overlays. Cleanup can make a review easier to read, but it can also remove content the client expects to assess. Make that choice per workflow rather than assuming every page should be cleaned.

Plan for multi-client operations
For recurring work, rendering controls are only part of the selection. Check whether the service supports bulk requests, schedules, concurrency appropriate to your volume, retries, webhooks, storage routing, and separate project or credential handling across clients. Verify actual monthly quotas, overages, retention, access controls, API limits, support, and any service-level commitments in current vendor terms.

Shortlist: which screenshot API fits your workflow?
The services below document different combinations of capture controls and workflow features. The list is a starting point for evaluation, not a claim that one service performs best on every site.
Rank #3
| Service | Documented capabilities | Agency evaluation focus |
|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | Website screenshot API and MCP server; clean-shot options; PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output; viewport and device controls, full-page and element captures, timing controls, bulk capture, async jobs, and signed webhooks. | Try first when clean output and clear billing outcomes matter. Validate its behavior on your client pages and the workflow controls you require. |
| ScreenshotAPI.net | Vendor materials describe Chromium rendering, viewport and full-page capture, scheduled and bulk captures, authentication, and cloud-storage routing. Its product page also states a 99.9% uptime SLA and sub-3-second average render time; these are vendor claims, and the current contract and measurement definitions should be checked. | Confirm which capabilities and storage options are included in the plan you would use, as well as the scope of any SLA and render-time claim. |
| ScreenshotOne | Its product overview describes full-page screenshots, viewport and device controls, cookie-banner and ad blocking, and customization controls. The page has reported 99.957% uptime over the last 30 days at the time represented by the cited product result; this is a vendor-published, time-sensitive figure, not an independent guarantee. | Test cleanup settings against client expectations and check the current uptime figure and its measurement period directly with the vendor. |
| Urlbox | Documentation describes controls for viewport, format, delays, and selectors; its product page describes URL and HTML rendering with a broad set of options. | Check the exact options, limits, and delivery workflow available in the plan under consideration. |
| Browserless | Its screenshot API documentation describes URL or inline-HTML capture and element-targeted screenshots. It warns that sites blocking automation may return blank images, CAPTCHA pages, or content unlike what a person sees. | Include automation-sensitive client sites in a pilot and inspect the returned page, not just whether an image was delivered. |
Vendor feature descriptions are not proof that every site will render correctly. Pricing, quotas, uptime definitions, data retention, and data-processing terms are not established here as an apples-to-apples comparison; verify those details directly before choosing.
How to pilot an API across client sites
Use a small, representative evaluation before routing recurring work through a service. This is a recommended selection method, not a report of testing performed for this article.

- Choose representative pages. Include several client sites and page types: a JavaScript-heavy page, a page with a consent flow, a long page with lazy-loaded content, and an authorized login-gated page if that is part of the agency’s work.
- Define the expected capture. Record the URL, desired viewport or device, full-page or element scope, output format, page state, and when the capture should occur.
- Configure timing and access. Set selector waits, delay, or other available readiness controls; supply required cookies or headers through the vendor’s supported method. Do not use credentials for pages you are not authorized to access.
- Compare the output with the intended view. Check for missing fonts, incomplete JavaScript content, unloaded images, overlays that should or should not be present, and differences from the target viewport.
- Test failure and delivery handling. Check what happens on inaccessible or automation-blocked pages, timeouts, retries, bulk jobs, and webhook or storage delivery. Make sure the team can tell a successful capture from an incomplete one.
- Calculate operating cost. Estimate monthly captures from the real client cadence, then verify quota, concurrency, overage, storage, and support terms on the specific plan. Recheck pricing and entitlements before committing; the vendor pages above do not establish a current, comparable total cost.
Operational risks to account for
Automation blocks can make an image misleading
Browserless specifically warns that automation-blocking sites may produce blank images, CAPTCHA pages, or content that differs from what a person sees. Treat any returned file as something to validate, not automatic proof that the intended page was captured.
Cleanup can change the evidence
Blocking or removing consent prompts, ads, popups, or chat elements can improve visual review, but may hide an element that is itself relevant to a client request. Decide whether each workflow needs a cleaned capture or a view that preserves those elements.

Scheduling and storage require plan-level checks
A vendor may document scheduled capture, bulk work, or cloud-storage routing without those capabilities being available under every plan or quota. Confirm the plan-level entitlement, limits, retention, and delivery behavior before building an agency process around it.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo’s API accepts a URL in one GET request and can return a screenshot or PDF. Its cleanup steps can accept cookie and consent banners and remove 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I take a screenshot of a client website automatically?
Send the page URL to a screenshot API with the required viewport and readiness settings, then route the returned file into your review or storage workflow. For private pages, use only an authorized access method and test the resulting capture.
Which screenshot API supports full-page and scheduled captures?
ScreenshotAPI.net’s product materials describe both full-page and scheduled captures. Confirm the current plan limits and availability directly with the vendor before relying on them.
