How to choose a webinar platform for a startup
Start with the job the webinar must do, then test the platform against five practical constraints. A low entry price is not useful if your live audience exceeds the cap, CRM sync sits on a higher tier, or the service does not support the event format you need.

1. Event format
Decide whether you need live events, on-demand access, automated or evergreen sessions, or a mix. These formats are not interchangeable: an on-demand recording may be useful for lead capture, while a live event may be necessary for real-time questions or a launch offer. 2. Peak audience and session duration
Estimate the live peak, not just the number of registrations. Then check the attendee ceiling and the maximum event length for the relevant tier. WebinarJam’s official pricing page lists both limits by plan; its annual-billed tiers range from 100 attendees and one-hour events to 5,000 attendees and four-hour events. Confirm host limits too, since they vary by tier.

3. Billing model
Find out whether billing is based on attendees, organizers, a fixed plan tier, or some combination. Ask whether no-shows consume attendee credits, whether the quote assumes annual billing, and whether an underlying meeting subscription is required. A per-attendee model can behave differently from a flat monthly subscription as attendance grows.
4. Registration and marketing workflow
Map the full path from registration to follow-up: landing page, reminders, polls and Q&A, offers, replay, analytics, and CRM synchronization. Verify which integrations are native, which require middleware, and which are available only on a higher plan. Test the fields your team actually needs, such as attendance status and lead details.

5. Total cost and switching cost
Include the base subscription, webinar add-on, extra seats, add-ons, annual commitment, and the work of moving registration and attendance data if you switch later. Confirm whether recordings and analytics remain accessible after cancellation, rather than assuming they do.

Livestorm: recurring B2B events and CRM handoff
Livestorm’s comparison page says the service supports live, on-demand, and automated webinars. It reports that Pro starts at $3 per attendee, supports events up to 3,000 live attendees, and does not count no-shows against credits. The same page says Pro includes native HubSpot sync, while Salesforce, Marketo, Pardot, and Microsoft Dynamics are available on Enterprise. These are vendor-reported claims, and the listed pricing is labeled as of September 2026; confirm the current price, cap, and integration tier directly with Livestorm.
This is a reasonable shortlist candidate when CRM handoff and multiple event formats matter. Before committing, check whether the attendee-based billing fits your forecast and whether the specific CRM fields you use are synchronized on the plan under consideration. Livestorm’s comparison page

Zoom Webinars: an existing Zoom workflow
A June 2026 comparison describes Zoom Webinars as a familiar option for teams already using Zoom, while noting that webinar capability is an add-on to a Zoom Workplace Pro subscription. That means the relevant comparison is total cost and workflow, not the add-on in isolation. The same June 2026 comparison also identifies Demio as an option for marketing and sales teams, GoTo Webinar for predictable recurring B2B events, Contrast for software-company or HubSpot workflows, eWebinar for automated webinars, and ON24 for enterprise programs. These are secondary-source descriptions, not verified current feature or pricing claims. Treat them as leads for evaluation rather than proof that a product fits your team; verify current details on each vendor’s site.

- Write down the event shape. Specify live, on-demand, automated, or mixed delivery, expected peak attendance, and the longest likely session.
- Run a test event. Invite a small internal group and test registration, joining from attendee devices, moderation, polls or Q&A, recording, replay, and follow-up.
- Verify the CRM path. Confirm the native integration, required plan tier, synchronized fields, and whether attendance and no-show status reach the systems your sales or marketing team uses.
- Calculate the full bill. Include attendee or seat charges, any required base subscription, add-ons, and the cost of annual commitment. Ask how no-shows are counted.
- Check what you can take with you. Confirm whether you can export registration and attendance data and retain replay access if you change services.
- Confirm limits and terms on the vendor’s current page. In particular, recheck price, audience cap, event duration, host count, integration tier, and recording or replay access before paying.
