There is no single best graphics preset for every PC running Watch Dogs: Legion. Start with your resolution and performance goal, then decide whether ray tracing matters more to you than additional performance headroom. Ubisoft’s 2020 configurations offer useful reference points, but they are historical targets—not a promise of how the game will run on your system today.
Choose a resolution and performance goal first
Before changing individual options, note your graphics card, the resolution you play at, and whether you want ray tracing enabled. Those choices affect which published configuration is a useful comparison. A setup intended for 1080p with ray tracing disabled is not directly comparable to one targeting 1440p or 4K with ray tracing and DLSS.

Ubisoft’s PC specifications, published in 2020, separate configurations with ray tracing disabled from those using ray tracing and DLSS. The examples below are publisher-stated configurations, not individualized settings recommendations or guarantees for current PCs. Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs: Legion system requirements also specify DX12 for the listed configurations.

These selected examples show how the stated hardware changes with resolution, detail level, and ray tracing. The table is not a complete list of every requirement in Ubisoft’s specifications.

For the 4K Ultra configuration, Ubisoft also lists a 20 GB HD texture pack. The comparison makes clear that the 4K ray-tracing target calls for substantially different hardware from the 1080p Low target without ray tracing. It does not mean you should buy a specific card: a sensible hardware decision depends on your current PC, budget, and intended target.
Decide whether to use ray tracing
Ray tracing is optional in Ubisoft’s PC configuration tables. Its RT-enabled examples are paired with stronger graphics cards than the 1080p configurations with ray tracing disabled, so treat it as a visual-quality choice with a potential performance cost rather than a default setting every PC should use.

If maintaining performance is your priority, begin with ray tracing disabled and establish how the game runs at your chosen resolution. If you want to try ray tracing, enable it and compare the result on your own system. Ubisoft’s examples show Medium, High, and Ultra RT configurations, but the available configuration information does not establish a universally best RT level or a specific frame-rate penalty.

NVIDIA’s Watch Dogs: Legion guidance places the DLSS control at Options > Video > Quality. Its instructions say: “To enable DLSS, simply scroll down the list of settings in Options > Video > Quality, and select a DLSS mode.” NVIDIA’s DLSS and ray-tracing guidance describes DLSS as a way to run higher-resolution, higher-detail graphics at higher frame rates. The actual result depends on the system and mode; no particular uplift is assured for an unspecified GPU.

Use DLSS as an option to test, not a guaranteed fix. Compare the available mode choices on your PC and keep the one whose image and performance suit you. Ubisoft’s 2020 examples pair DLSS Quality with some RT targets and DLSS Performance with its 4K Ultra RT target; those examples illustrate different configurations, not a universal mode recommendation.
Compare changes with the in-game benchmark
Notebookcheck’s review reports that the game includes an in-game benchmark. Use it to compare settings under repeatable conditions, then check representative gameplay as well: benchmark results do not guarantee identical performance in every scene.

- Record your current resolution, ray-tracing choice, DLSS mode if enabled, and graphics settings.
- Run the built-in benchmark and note its result alongside the settings you used.
- Change one meaningful setting, then run the benchmark again so you can compare the effect.
- Try the adjusted settings in normal gameplay, since a benchmark cannot represent every play scene.
Adjust scalable detail settings on your own PC
Geometry and its Extra Details control are identified as scalable options in PCGamesN’s settings guide. The cited guidance does not establish one value that is best for all hardware or preferences. Adjust such controls in small steps and evaluate them with the benchmark and actual gameplay instead of assuming a fixed value will work for every system.
