Best Things to Do at Del Perro Pier Besides the Rides in GTA 5

Yes—Del Perro Pier is worth visiting even if you never board the Ferris Whale or Leviathan. Treat it as a free-roam sightseeing stop: walk the pier and boardwalk, watch pedestrians and performers, look over the railings, continue onto Del Perro Beach, and use the ocean, coastline, Los Santos skyline, sunset colors, and nighttime lights as a screenshot backdrop. A location guide also reports arcade games, but that detail is less firmly established than the pier’s walking, people-watching, beach, and viewpoint activities.

What Del Perro Pier offers beyond the rides

Del Perro Pier is a seaside landmark in Del Perro, Los Santos, beside Del Perro Beach. Its two named attractions are the Ferris Whale and Leviathan, but neither defines the entire location. In both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the pier works well as an unhurried free-roam destination when you want to explore without starting a mission or committing to a major activity.

The most dependable things to do are environmental rather than menu-driven. You can arrive on foot, stroll the length of the boardwalk, pause at the railings, observe pedestrians, look for performers, and take in the oceanfront view. The neighboring beach gives you a broader shoreline route, while different times of day change the appearance of the water, skyline, and illuminated pier. Exact pedestrian behavior and available interactions can vary between Story Mode, GTA Online, and game updates, so think of these as activities to discover rather than guaranteed minigames.

Start with a walk along the pier

Enter from the Del Perro side

Approach Del Perro Pier from the Del Perro side and enter on foot. Starting at the landward end lets you see the landmark as a gradual transition from the city to the beach and ocean. You do not need to select a ride or trigger a mission to make the visit worthwhile.

  1. Leave your vehicle near the landward entrance rather than driving onto crowded parts of the boardwalk.
  2. Walk toward the pier and follow the main boardwalk route at your own pace.
  3. Pause at open sections to look back toward Del Perro, the beach, and the Los Santos skyline.
  4. Continue toward the end of the pier, checking the railings and side views instead of heading straight to the ride entrances.
  5. Return along the same route or continue to Del Perro Beach for a longer shoreline walk.

The GTA Wiki description specifically notes people driving to the pier, taking a walk, leaning over the rails, and watching performers. That makes a simple walking tour the safest recommendation: it relies on the world simulation rather than promising a button prompt or a formal challenge.

Use the railings as viewpoints

Railings provide the pier’s clearest ocean-facing sightlines. Stop at several points instead of treating the pier as a single corridor. Looking outward emphasizes the water and horizon; turning back toward land frames the beach, buildings, and skyline. These pauses are also useful for screenshots because the railing gives the foreground a strong edge and helps show scale.

  • Ocean view: Face away from the city for an open horizon and a quieter composition.
  • Coastline view: Turn along the shore to include Del Perro Beach and the curve of the coast.
  • City view: Face inland for a denser Los Santos backdrop behind the pier.
  • Pier view: Stand farther back and aim along the boardwalk so the lights, railings, and attractions create leading lines.

People-watch and look for performers

Pedestrian activity is one of Del Perro Pier’s main attractions when you skip the rides. The landmark description identifies pedestrians walking, leaning over the rails, and watching performers. These are ambient scenes, not a named mission or a guaranteed performance schedule.

What to expect

Walk slowly through busier sections and watch how non-player characters use the space. Some may stop at the railings, gather around a performer, or simply pass along the boardwalk. The scene can change as pedestrians spawn, move away, or react to nearby traffic and player behavior. If a particular group is not present, leave the immediate area and return later rather than assuming you missed an activation.

How to make people-watching work

  • Arrive on foot so vehicle noise and collisions do not immediately scatter the crowd.
  • Keep a little distance from groups; the goal is to observe the scene, not provoke a reaction.
  • Stand near, but not directly in front of, railings and gathering spots so you can see the action without blocking your own view.
  • If the pier feels empty, move toward the beach entrance or back toward Del Perro, then revisit the boardwalk.
  • Use a cinematic or free camera only if your platform and mode provide one; camera options can differ by version and mode.

Because this is ambient world behavior, there may be no reward notification, completion marker, or collectible for watching. The payoff is the changing street scene and the opportunity to capture a lively Los Santos location.

Continue onto Del Perro Beach

Del Perro Beach sits beside the pier and adds space when the boardwalk feels too narrow or crowded. GTA Core describes the landmark together with its neighboring beach, and the beach is the natural extension of a pier visit rather than a separate mission area.

A simple pier-to-beach route

  1. Walk the pier first so you see the ocean from above the shoreline.
  2. Return to the landward end and move onto the adjacent beach.
  3. Follow the sand or shoreline far enough to change your camera angle on the pier.
  4. Turn back toward the landmark for a wider shot that includes the beach, supports, boardwalk, and skyline.
  5. Return to the pier if you want to compare the elevated ocean view with the lower beach perspective.

The beach is especially useful for players who want exploration without an obvious objective. It gives you room to change direction, frame the pier from a distance, and wait for a preferred time of day. It also makes a short visit feel like a complete coastal outing: elevated boardwalk, shoreline, and city view in one area.

Plan a screenshot trip around the lighting

Del Perro Pier’s scenery changes substantially with the time of day. A location guide recommends sunset viewing, which is best treated as a scenic tip rather than a gameplay reward. The game does not need to award anything for the view to be useful; the changing light is the activity.

Daytime: clearest geography

Daylight is the practical choice when you want to identify the pier, beach, and skyline in one frame. The ocean and shoreline are easier to distinguish, and the boardwalk’s structure is less obscured by darkness. Use this period to learn the route and choose locations for later shots.

Sunset: warm color and long silhouettes

At sunset, face along the coast to place the changing sky behind the pier, or turn inland to silhouette railings and pedestrians against the city. The beach offers more room to back away and include the entire landmark. Since the exact position and timing of the sun depend on the in-game clock, arrive early and move between the beach and pier as the light changes.

Night: illuminated boardwalk

After dark, the pier lights become the focus. Shoot from farther along the boardwalk to create a line of lights receding toward the attractions, or stand on the beach and frame the lit structure against the darker water. Night shots can hide distant detail, so use the pier’s lamps and nearby silhouettes as intentional composition elements instead of trying to show every part of Los Santos.

Practical screenshot checklist

  • Decide whether the subject is the ocean, beach, skyline, boardwalk, or lights before choosing a position.
  • Use the railing, pier supports, or shoreline as a foreground edge to add depth.
  • Try both a wide view showing Del Perro Beach and a tighter view focused on the boardwalk.
  • Capture the same angle in daylight, sunset, and night if you want a visual comparison.
  • Keep pedestrians in the frame when you want a lived-in location; wait for a clear path when you want an architectural shot.

Are there arcade games at Del Perro Pier?

One location guide lists arcade games among Del Perro Pier’s attractions. However, the available documentation does not include a primary Rockstar confirmation of a dedicated, playable arcade at the pier. The careful conclusion is that arcade games are reported, not a guaranteed minigame you should plan your visit around.

  • Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game's three lead characters, playing all sides of the game's interwoven story.
  • Grand Theft Auto V also comes with Grand Theft Auto Online, the dynamic and ever-evolving Grand Theft Auto universe for multiple players.

If you see an arcade cabinet or an interaction prompt in your edition and mode, use it and check what the game allows. If you do not, that does not contradict the better-established sightseeing activities. Do not assume that every cabinet is playable, that a particular minigame will load, or that an arcade session awards money, progress, or an achievement. Treat the arcade detail as an optional discovery and rely on the walk, performers, beach, and views for a dependable itinerary.

Story Mode and GTA Online: what can differ

Del Perro Pier appears in both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, so the general sightseeing advice applies to either mode. The setting, rides, beach, and ambient design are shared ideas, but exact interactions can vary by mode, update, platform, or the current state of the session.

Story Mode

Story Mode is the better choice when you want a controlled sightseeing trip without other players changing the scene. A gameplay guide reports that the Ferris Whale and Leviathan can be used in Story Mode without a mission prerequisite. That means the rides remain optional: you can walk, watch the environment, or board one later without first completing a specific assignment.

For a quiet visit, travel to Del Perro, park away from the busiest entrance, and explore on foot. If pedestrians react to your character or disappear after a disturbance, move away and return to let the area repopulate.

GTA Online

In GTA Online, other players, session events, and changing pedestrian behavior can make the same location feel busier or less predictable. The sightseeing route still works, but do not expect every visit to look identical. If another player is causing disruption, change sessions or return at another time rather than treating the pier as unavailable.

Online updates can also alter interaction behavior. If a prompt is missing, confirm that you are in the correct position, approach on foot, and try again after moving away from the crowd. A missing prompt is not evidence that the entire landmark has no sightseeing value.

A complete no-ride itinerary

Use this route when you want to spend time at Del Perro Pier without turning the visit into a ride-focused stop.

  1. Arrive in daylight. Enter from Del Perro and learn the boardwalk layout while the coastline is easy to read.
  2. Walk the full accessible length. Keep your attention on side views, railings, and the ocean rather than going straight to the attractions.
  3. Pause for ambient activity. Look for pedestrians leaning on rails or watching performers. Give the scene time to develop.
  4. Move to Del Perro Beach. Walk far enough to obtain a wider view of the pier and skyline.
  5. Return near sunset. Revisit the same viewpoints as the sky changes, using the beach for wide compositions and the pier for close ones.
  6. Stay after dark. Photograph the illuminated boardwalk if you want a different mood.
  7. Check optional interactions last. If you encounter an arcade prompt, test it; otherwise, finish with a ride only if you now want one.

This order keeps the most reliable activities first and prevents an uncertain arcade interaction from becoming the reason a visit feels unsuccessful.

Common disappointments and how to handle them

“Nothing happens when I arrive.”

Del Perro Pier is not presented as a mission hub for sightseeing. The walking, views, and people-watching are the content. Explore the boardwalk and beach instead of waiting for a cinematic or objective marker.

“I cannot find a performer.”

Performers and pedestrians are ambient elements, so their placement and timing can vary. Walk away from the immediate area, return, and check different sections of the boardwalk. Avoid treating one empty visit as proof that performers never appear.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“The arcade cabinet is not playable.”

The arcade claim is less firmly documented than the walking and beach activities. If there is no prompt, do not force the interaction or assume a minigame is missing from your installation. Continue with the documented sightseeing options.

“The pier looks different in my session.”

Story Mode and GTA Online can produce different pedestrian activity, and updates or platform versions can affect interactions. Compare the general landmark and route rather than expecting identical crowd behavior.

“My screenshot is too dark or too busy.”

Change the time of day, move between the beach and boardwalk, and use the railings or lights as a deliberate frame. Daylight favors geography, sunset favors color, and night favors illuminated structures. A different position usually helps more than repeatedly taking the same shot.

When the rides are still worth considering

Skipping the rides does not mean avoiding the attractions forever. The Ferris Whale and Leviathan are the two named rides at the pier, and a gameplay guide reports that they are accessible in Story Mode without a mission prerequisite. If you finish your walk and decide you want the amusement-park experience, you can treat either ride as an optional final stop rather than the purpose of the visit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The practical distinction is mood: rides provide a defined attraction, while the rest of Del Perro Pier provides flexible free-roam sightseeing. Choose the ride when you want a short, structured diversion; choose the boardwalk, beach, performers, or viewpoints when you want to explore at your own pace.

Bottom line for a no-ride visit

Del Perro Pier is more than its Ferris wheel and roller coaster. The most reliable plan is to walk the boardwalk, pause at the railings, watch pedestrians and performers, continue onto Del Perro Beach, and return at sunset or after dark for different coastal and skyline views. Arcade games are reported by one guide but are not firmly confirmed as a dedicated playable feature, so keep that as a bonus discovery rather than a promise. The same sightseeing approach works in Story Mode and GTA Online, with normal differences in crowds and interactions.
