The Streamlabs Plugin for OBS brings selected Streamlabs alerts, widgets, overlays, chat tools and related features into OBS Studio, so you can keep your existing OBS workflow instead of switching to Streamlabs Desktop or adding every widget manually as a browser source. Streamlabs’ current materials specify Windows and OBS Studio 28.0.0 or later; check the official setup guide for the latest compatibility details.
What the Streamlabs Plugin adds to OBS
The plugin connects OBS Studio to a selection of Streamlabs tools. It is useful if you want Streamlabs features accessible from OBS without adopting Streamlabs Desktop as your main broadcasting application.

- Alerts and widgets: Add an Alert Box, Chat Box, Event Lists and other Streamlabs widgets from the OBS menu. You can test alert behavior through Test Events.
- Overlays and themes: Browse Streamlabs’ overlay library and add designs to a stream. Streamlabs says the library contains hundreds of free overlays and widget themes; premium options require Ultra. Its guide also describes thousands of professionally designed animated overlays, alerts and transitions, a vendor-reported count rather than an independently verified figure.
- Recent events and docks: See recent activity and open Streamlabs Activity Feed or Chat as docks that can be positioned within OBS.
- Cloudbot: Connect Streamlabs’ chat tools for moderation filters and engagement options such as giveaways and minigames. Documented moderation filters cover caps, emotes, paragraphs, links, symbols and words.
- Tipping and Stream Labels: Configure tipping and add labels from OBS without running a separate labels program.
- Vision features: Streamlabs identifies Reactive Overlays and Game Pulse Widget as Vision features. The company says Game Pulse can trigger graphics and sound effects in response to gameplay events; this is a vendor-described capability, not an independently tested result.
- Multistreaming: Streamlabs says server-side multistreaming through the plugin requires Ultra.
Requirements and installation
Streamlabs’ quick-start guide, published May 20, 2026 and last updated October 1, 2026, specifies Windows and OBS Studio 28.0.0 or later. Operating-system and version support can change, so consult the current Streamlabs Plugin for OBS quick-start guide if your setup differs.

- Open OBS Studio and complete the plugin onboarding flow.
- To add a widget, choose Streamlabs > Widgets, select a widget, then choose Add.
- If an alert should appear above gameplay, move its source above the gameplay source in OBS’s Sources list.
- Use Test Events to check that alerts display as expected. Widget settings open in a browser window for editing.
Some changes, including adding an overlay, may require restarting OBS. For labels, choose Streamlabs > Stream Labels and add the label you want. To use the documented Vision options, enable Vision and add a Reactive Overlay or Game Pulse option through the plugin.

Which features are free, and what requires Ultra?
Streamlabs says the plugin is free to download and use. Many widgets and tools—including alerts, Cloudbot, overlays, recent events, Stream Labels, media share and chat moderation—are accessible through it. Free availability does not mean every design or capability is included: Streamlabs identifies premium overlays and server-side multistreaming as Ultra features, and its guide describes professional animated overlay and theme options as subscription features. Subscription prices are not stated in the official materials covered here.
Plugin or Streamlabs Desktop?
Choose the plugin if you prefer OBS Studio and want Streamlabs tools available within that workflow. Consider Streamlabs Desktop if you want Streamlabs’ all-in-one environment or need features Streamlabs identifies as Desktop-only, including Dual Output, Collab Cam and Shared Storage. Streamlabs frames the choice around whether you want to stay with OBS or move to an all-in-one setup; compare the current feature lists before switching.
