One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchXSplit Broadcaster is the clearest fit if you want both an audio mixer and a built-in equalizer: its documentation describes individual device-level controls and a three-band semi-parametric EQ. OBS Studio is a strong free, cross-platform choice if you are comfortable adding EQ through a compatible plugin. Streamlabs Desktop documents useful microphone filters and dynamics controls, but the reviewed materials do not establish a native multiband EQ. For browser-based interviews, StreamYard emphasizes guest-friendly production and basic audio controls rather than detailed EQ.
An audio mixer balances the levels of sources such as your microphone, game, music, and guests. An equalizer (EQ) changes the level of selected frequency ranges. They solve different problems, so a mixer does not necessarily include an EQ. This is a feature comparison based on vendor documentation, not a hands-on sound-quality test.

Best streaming software with both a mixer and EQ
XSplit Broadcaster: the clearest built-in match
XSplit’s documentation describes individual monitoring and level adjustment for audio devices, plus a three-band semi-parametric equalizer. You can adjust Low, Mid, and High bands, choose frequency centers, and use quality-factor presets. Its help materials also cover noise suppression, a noise gate, and a compressor. XSplit Broadcaster V4.2 or newer is required for VST3 plugin support, according to XSplit; check the current version and feature availability before relying on that requirement.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
To find the mixer, XSplit’s documented path is Tools > Audio Mixer. Add playback or recording devices as needed, adjust each level, and mute sources that should not be heard. Watch the dBFS meter: levels approaching clipping can distort. The integrated EQ makes XSplit the most direct match when avoiding a separate plugin matters.
#1 Best Overall
- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
OBS Studio: free, flexible, and plugin-ready
OBS Studio is free and open source, with Windows, macOS, and Linux versions. Its feature documentation describes real-time audio and video capture and mixing, per-source filters including noise gate, noise suppression, and gain, plus VST plugin support. The reviewed OBS materials do not establish a native parametric EQ, so treat EQ as a plugin-based workflow rather than a built-in mixer feature. Confirm that any plugin supports your operating system, OBS version, and intended audio routing.
OBS also offers scenes assembled from multiple sources, Studio Mode, multiview, hotkeys, and a modular dock interface. It suits users who want a configurable production setup and are willing to configure plugins; plugin flexibility is not the same as a one-click native EQ.

Streamlabs Desktop: practical filters, but no documented native multiband EQ
Streamlabs describes Desktop as an application for Windows and Mac that is free to download and use. Its audio guidance covers gain, noise suppression, noise gate, compressor, polarity inversion, limiter, and expander. These tools address noise and dynamics, but they are not an EQ curve, and the reviewed materials do not establish a native multiband equalizer. Streamlabs also notes that some product features vary with Ultra, so check current plan details if a specific feature matters.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor the documented workflow, open the microphone source from the Audio Mixer panel and try filters there. Make one change at a time and listen to a recording; stacking filters without checking results can make speech sound unnatural or cut off words.

StreamYard: a browser studio for guest-led shows
A StreamYard editorial comparison, last updated January 10, 2026, characterizes its browser studio as focused on echo cancellation, noise reduction, stereo, and automatic microphone controls rather than built-in multiband EQ. It suggests using hardware or virtual audio software upstream for detailed EQ. That is StreamYard’s characterization, not an independent sound-quality evaluation. Consider it when browser-based guest interviews, panels, or webinars matter more than hands-on EQ controls.
At a glance: mixer, EQ, and workflow
| Software | Mixer and documented audio controls | EQ status in reviewed documentation | Best-supported fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| XSplit Broadcaster | Individual device monitoring and level controls; noise suppression, gate, and compressor | Built-in three-band semi-parametric EQ; VST3 support documented for V4.2 or newer | Integrated mixer and EQ without a plugin-first workflow |
| OBS Studio | Audio mixer; per-source noise gate, suppression, and gain; VST plugin support | Compatible plugin can provide EQ; a native parametric EQ is not established by the reviewed materials | Free, cross-platform production and plugin flexibility |
| Streamlabs Desktop | Mixer and documented filters for noise, gain, and dynamics | A native multiband EQ is not established by the reviewed materials | Common microphone cleanup and dynamics controls |
| StreamYard | Browser-studio controls described by the vendor include echo cancellation, noise reduction, stereo, and automatic mic levels | Vendor editorial guidance says it has no built-in multiband EQ; external processing is an option | Guest-focused browser production with simpler audio needs |
How to choose for your setup
- Choose XSplit if a built-in EQ and direct per-device adjustment are your main requirements.
- Choose OBS Studio if free, open-source, cross-platform software and plugin expandability matter more than having EQ built into the application.
- Choose Streamlabs Desktop if its documented filters cover your needs for noise and dynamics, and you do not require a documented native multiband EQ.
- Choose StreamYard if browser-based guests and a streamlined show workflow take priority over detailed EQ shaping.
Compare operating-system support, whether EQ is native or plugin-based, routing needs, production features, and current pricing. The available feature documentation does not establish that one application sounds better than another.

Set levels and test before going live
- Set source levels first. Adjust the microphone, operating-system, and application volume controls before making large changes to the streaming app’s fader. OBS’s audio guidance recommends this order.
- Balance your sources. Speak at your normal distance and volume, then set the microphone against game, music, or guest audio. Mute any source that should not reach the stream.
- Use EQ for tone, not level problems. Make modest band adjustments while listening on headphones. If the mic is too loud, distorted, or noisy, address gain, clipping, placement, and room noise before trying to fix it with EQ.
- Monitor and record a representative test. Listen through headphones, record a normal session, and play it back before going live. Check that speech remains clear over other sources and that words are not clipped by a gate or excessive noise suppression.
- Check the destination’s current requirements. Platform audio settings can change. Streamlabs’ audio guide reports a maximum audio bitrate of 160 kbps for Twitch; for YouTube, up to 128 kbps for stereo and up to 384 kbps for surround sound; and 128 kbps stereo for Facebook Live. These are figures reported by Streamlabs, not a substitute for checking each platform’s current specifications.
When to add a plugin or hardware
Use a plugin when software EQ is enough
OBS documents VST plugin support, and XSplit documents VST3 support for Broadcaster V4.2 or newer. A compatible plugin can add processing options, but compatibility depends on the specific plugin, app version, operating system, and audio path. Confirm those details and test the configuration before a live show.
Use a physical mixer or interface only for a concrete need
A hardware mixer or audio interface can make sense if you want tactile controls, individual source gain adjustments, or a dedicated routing path. OBS’s audio guidance describes physical mixers as a way to control source gain and master level before audio reaches the computer. They are optional: the software controls may be sufficient for a basic streaming setup.

Troubleshoot common audio problems
Audio sounds distorted or clips
- Lower the source level at the microphone, operating system, or application, then check the software meter again.
- Reduce overlapping source levels and avoid pushing a compressor or other processor so hard that the result becomes harsh.
- Record another short test and listen back; do not rely only on meters.
Background noise remains audible
- Move the microphone closer to your voice and farther from fans, traffic, or other noise sources where practical.
- Check whether the noise is present in the raw microphone signal before adding filters.
- Apply noise suppression or a gate conservatively. A gate set too aggressively can cut off quiet words and sentence endings.
Speech is uneven or disappears
- Check microphone distance and input level before raising compression or gain.
- Relax the noise-gate threshold if it closes while you are speaking quietly.
- Record a test with the same speaking volume and program audio you expect during the show.
An EQ plugin does not appear or process the intended source
- Confirm that the plugin format is supported by your streaming software and that the app version meets the vendor’s stated requirements.
- Check that the plugin is attached to the intended audio source and that the signal is routed through it.
- Restart the app if required by the plugin, then make a test recording before relying on the setup live.
