Start with a hardware encoder supported by your platform, use a two-second keyframe interval and CBR, then test. If play or stream stutters, first cap the game’s frame rate or reduce its graphics load; an upgrade is not automatically necessary.
Choose settings for your platform and encoder
Streaming settings depend on the service, your GPU and the OBS controls available in your installed version. NVIDIA’s OBS guide recommends Hardware (NVENC, H.264) for Twitch. For YouTube, it recommends Hardware (NVENC, AV1) on an RTX 40 Series GPU, or NVENC HEVC otherwise. Treat these as vendor starting points for compatible setups, and confirm current platform codec support before selecting AV1 or HEVC.

NVIDIA’s guide describes NVENC as a dedicated physical section of NVIDIA GPUs for encoding. A hardware encoder can reduce the work handled by the CPU, but it does not remove the need to leave Cyberpunk enough GPU headroom.
OBS encoder starting point
For supported NVENC setups, NVIDIA recommends CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, P6 preset, High Quality tuning and two-pass quarter-resolution multipass in OBS’s advanced settings. These are vendor recommendations, not a universal profile. If an option is missing or named differently in your OBS version, do not assume another setting is identical.

Streamlabs’ Twitch examples
Streamlabs publishes these sample Twitch configurations. They are examples rather than guaranteed current platform limits or a fit for every connection:

Streamlabs pairs those examples with CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, Quality preset and two B-frames. Its guide recommends testing your own setup. Check the current streaming service’s requirements as well as your upload stability before using any sample value.

Balance stream quality with game performance
Cyberpunk and the encoder compete for system resources. A stream target of 60 FPS is easier to sustain if the game has some performance headroom: Streamlabs recommends running Cyberpunk at 70 FPS or higher for that target, as a practical recommendation rather than a measured guarantee. If your PC cannot maintain it, lower graphics settings or choose a lower stream frame rate.

Do not treat Overdrive as a streaming baseline
Ray Tracing: Overdrive is an optional, GPU-intensive graphics mode and is off by default. CD PROJEKT RED’s support guidance recommends it on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series cards from the RTX 4070 Ti upward, and on an RTX 3090 at 1080p/30 FPS. That is guidance for the Overdrive graphics mode, not a general recommendation for streaming.
CD PROJEKT RED’s published performance examples list 60 expected FPS for its recommended non-ray-tracing configuration at 1080p/high and its Ultra example at 2160p. Its 2160p Ray Tracing Overdrive example lists an RTX 4080 and 60 expected FPS; the page says the Overdrive measurement used DLSS Frame Generation. These are CD PROJEKT RED internal test results, not a promise for your PC. The company cautions that performance varies with hardware, software, graphics settings and resolution.

Set bitrate around your real upload capacity
OBS distinguishes network trouble from low in-game FPS: dropped frames mean the connection to the remote server is unstable or the configured bitrate cannot be sustained. OBS suggests trying another server and lowering the bitrate. Its troubleshooting page offers 75% of total upload speed as a starting point, while noting that the streaming service’s own limits also constrain bitrate. Lower bitrate may reduce picture quality.

- Choose a bitrate that leaves upload headroom rather than consuming the entire measured upload capacity.
- If OBS reports dropped frames, try a different ingest server and reduce bitrate; then test again.
- If the game itself has low FPS but OBS is not dropping frames, reduce Cyberpunk’s rendering load or cap its frame rate instead of treating it as a network issue.
Protect game audio and check current game features
Cyberpunk 2077’s Streamer Mode can disable certain songs to help reduce copyright risk in streams or videos that include game audio. It does not guarantee that every claim or rights issue is prevented, so use it as a risk-reduction measure rather than a copyright clearance.

Game and GPU features change by version. CD PROJEKT RED says Patch 2.21 introduced DLSS 4 support on compatible hardware, including Multi Frame Generation on RTX 50-series cards with 2x, 3x or 4x settings, and a Transformer model option for Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction on RTX cards. Availability depends on the installed game build and compatible GPU. The published PC requirements include SSD storage; CD PROJEKT RED says SSDs offer faster loading, improved streaming and better overall performance compared with HDDs. Its page also notes that previously listed minimum hardware might still run the game as active support and testing change.
Troubleshoot the symptom before changing hardware
