If Streamlabs Desktop is malfunctioning, use its app troubleshooting steps rather than assuming Windows Safe Mode is a supported fix.
Does Streamlabs Desktop have a safe mode?
Streamlabs’ Safe Mode is a stream-and-chat safety feature, not a stripped-down startup mode for the desktop app. Streamlabs describes it as a way to help prevent harassment, hateful messages, and chat spam. It clears recent events and queued alerts, disables follower alerts, and, when Cloudbot is enabled, can apply chat restrictions. See Streamlabs’ Safe Mode feature page for its scope and controls.

Windows Safe Mode is different: it starts the operating system in a basic state with a limited set of files and drivers. Microsoft’s Startup Settings instructions cover Windows 10 and Windows 11. This is a Windows boot option, not a Streamlabs Desktop feature: Microsoft Support: Windows Startup Settings.
Which option should you use?
| Option | Where it applies | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Streamlabs Safe Mode | Streamlabs streaming and chat features | Reducing harmful chat and alert activity; it does not start the desktop application in a diagnostic mode. |
| Windows Safe Mode | Windows startup | Troubleshooting Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. It is not a Streamlabs-specific repair. |
| Streamlabs app troubleshooting | Streamlabs Desktop | Addressing app startup behavior or crashes using the vendor’s troubleshooting guidance. |
How to start Windows in Safe Mode
Use this route only if you need Windows Safe Mode to diagnose a Windows problem. The exact screens can vary by Windows version and device configuration.
#1 Best Overall
- 14" diagonal, 1366x768 resolution, HD BrightView LED, Glossy NON-TOUCH Display
- Enter the Windows Recovery Environment. If Windows is running, open Settings and use the recovery options to access advanced startup; alternatively, use the recovery route available on your device.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- After the PC restarts and displays the startup choices, select the Safe Mode option you need.
- If network access is necessary, choose Safe Mode with Networking. Microsoft describes this option as adding the network drivers and services required for internet and network access.
These steps start Windows in Safe Mode; they do not enable a Streamlabs Desktop safe-start mode. Streamlabs’ published troubleshooting does not establish running the app in Windows Safe Mode as a vendor-supported startup fix, and it does not guarantee that every app function will work there.
Fix Streamlabs Desktop startup or crash problems
If the app repeatedly behaves like a first-time launch

Streamlabs says Clear Cache and Restart starts the app from scratch and wipes user data; related troubleshooting guidance warns that clearing cache could remove scene collections and settings.
