For most U.S. households, the best low-cost Netflix replacement is the ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu bundle at a listed $12.99 per month, provided everyone will watch both services. The strongest dollar discount in the reviewed July 12, 2026 comparison is the Disney+, Hulu and Max bundle at $19.99 per month, but that is a good deal only when all three catalogs belong on your regular watchlist. A bundle does not save money if it adds a service you would not otherwise pay for.
This guide uses U.S. prices and plans documented in that July comparison, with Hulu’s help information also listing a $19.99 Disney+/Hulu/Max option. Prices, advertising, streams, eligibility and cancellation terms can change, so check the provider checkout page before paying. As of October 19, 2026, Hulu and Disney+ say new-subscription prices changed September 23, while existing subscribers may see changes on or after October 21.

Quick verdict: which bundle should replace Netflix?
Start with the services your household already wants, then compare the bundle’s price with the standalone plans you would actually keep. The table below is a U.S. snapshot from July 12, 2026, not a guaranteed future rate.

| Bundle | Listed price | Documented standalone comparison | Best fit | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Disney+ and Hulu | $12.99/month | $23.98 separately; listed savings $10.99/month | Families and mixed-age households | Ad-supported tier; poor value if either service goes unused |
| Disney+, Hulu and Max | $19.99/month | $34.97 separately; listed savings $14.98/month | Households wanting family viewing, general entertainment and prestige television or films | Only worthwhile when all three services are wanted |
| Apple TV+ and Peacock | $14.99/month | $23.98 separately; listed savings $8.99/month | Apple originals, NBCUniversal programming and selected sports | Current enrollment and tier details need confirmation from the providers |
| Starz, AMC+ and MGM+ | $21.99/month | $29.97 separately; listed savings $7.98/month | Viewers seeking several premium-network catalogs | Narrower selection than the broad family bundles |
| Starz and MGM+ | $13.99/month | $18.98 separately; listed savings $4.99/month | People who specifically want those two catalogs | Not a broad Netflix substitute |
The Disney+ and Hulu option is the practical starting point because it combines a family-focused library with adult and current-network programming at the lowest listed price among the broad bundles reviewed. The three-service Disney+, Hulu and Max plan has the largest stated dollar saving, but you should reject it if Max is the only catalog you want or if one of the other services would sit unused.

Do not treat a percentage discount as money saved automatically. The relevant calculation is:
real monthly saving = the standalone services you would keep − the bundle price
If you would subscribe to Max alone, a $19.99 three-service package is an extra cost, not a saving, even though its advertised comparison shows a large discount against three separate subscriptions.

Disney+ and Hulu: the lowest-cost broad option
The $12.99 monthly listing is for an ad-supported Disney+/Hulu bundle. Its value comes from combining different viewing needs: Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars programming on Disney+, alongside Hulu’s adult-oriented and current-network selection. That mix can cover children’s viewing, shared family nights and more mature series without maintaining two separate bills.
Choose this plan when both services appear on the household’s real watchlist. If only one person occasionally opens Hulu, or children are the only regular Disney+ viewers, calculate the standalone price of the service that receives most use before enrolling.
Advertising is part of the trade-off. A lower bundle price generally means commercial interruptions and potentially different download, stream or content terms from ad-free plans. Compare equivalent tiers rather than comparing an ad-supported bundle with an ad-free standalone subscription.
Disney+, Hulu and Max: the widest catalog mix in this comparison
The listed $19.99 monthly plan adds Max to Disney+ and Hulu. Max contributes HBO, Warner Bros. and other prestige television and movie content, making this the broadest general-entertainment combination in the table. The July comparison lists $34.97 as the separate total and $14.98 as the monthly difference.

This bundle fits a household that can name recurring uses for all three services: family franchises on Disney+, current or adult programming on Hulu, and Max’s premium series or film library. It is not a cheaper way to obtain Max by itself. If Max is your only requirement, subscribe to the Max plan that matches your needs instead of paying for two unused catalogs.
Hulu’s official help information lists a Disney+, Hulu and Max option at $19.99 per month, but the exact tier, advertising, stream limits and eligibility should still be read at checkout.
Apple TV+ and Peacock: originals plus NBCUniversal and selected sports
The comparison lists this combination at $14.99 per month, versus $23.98 separately, for a stated $8.99 difference. Apple TV+ is oriented around exclusive original series and films. Peacock adds NBCUniversal programming and selected live sports, which can matter more than catalog size for viewers following particular events or leagues.
The price was documented in a secondary bundle guide rather than a directly readable provider enrollment page. Treat it as a lead to verify, not a guaranteed offer. Confirm which Apple TV+ and Peacock tiers are included, whether the Peacock plan carries ads, which sports are available in your location, and whether the enrollment path is still open.
Starz, AMC+ and MGM+: a premium-network specialist bundle
At a listed $21.99 per month, this three-service package is compared with $29.97 purchased separately, a stated $7.98 monthly difference. It is suited to viewers who actively follow shows and films spread across those premium-network catalogs.
The bundle is less suitable as a default Netflix replacement. Its value depends on specific titles and franchises rather than on covering every household member’s everyday viewing. Make a list of the programs you intend to watch during the next few months; if that list is short, rotating one service at a time may cost less.
Starz and MGM+: targeted savings for two catalogs
The $13.99 monthly listing is compared with $18.98 separately, for a stated $4.99 difference. This is the right type of package only when both catalogs have a place in your plan. It should not be selected merely because its price is below the larger bundles; it lacks Disney+, Hulu, Max, Apple TV+ and Peacock’s broader mix.

How to compare a bundle with your current bill
1. Build a household watchlist
Write down the shows, films, franchises, sports, news and children’s programs each person expects to watch during the next three months. Separate “must watch” titles from occasional browsing. A service that appears once on the second list may not justify a year-round subscription.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →2. Mark the required tier
Record whether each viewer needs ad-free playback, downloads, 4K video, extra simultaneous streams or a particular live channel. A bundle’s headline price may represent an ad-supported tier, so the cheapest number is not comparable with a premium standalone plan.
3. Calculate the actual alternatives
Add only the standalone services you would really keep. For example, if your household would otherwise retain Disney+ at $X and Hulu at $Y, compare that combined amount with the documented $12.99 bundle price; do not add Max unless Max would also be purchased. The savings shown in the table are provider-comparison figures, not a promise that every household would spend the full standalone total.
4. Include the time you will subscribe
A monthly discount matters only for months in which all included services are used. Multiply the monthly difference by the number of months you expect to stay enrolled, then compare that result with a rotation plan. If a new season arrives in one month and nothing interests you for the next two, a permanent bundle may cost more than subscribing briefly and canceling.
5. Check the final checkout terms
Before confirming payment, verify the displayed price, tax, advertising, simultaneous streams, downloads, billing date, renewal amount and cancellation method. Hulu and Disney+ have already announced price changes in September 2026, with existing-account changes potentially appearing on or after October 21, so an older comparison should not be treated as a current invoice.

Most headline bundle prices in this comparison correspond to ad-supported access. Advertising can be an acceptable trade for a lower bill, but it changes the experience and sometimes the available features. Decide whether your household can tolerate commercial breaks before calling a bundle “cheaper.”
- Choose ads when the priority is the lowest monthly charge and interruptions are acceptable.
- Choose ad-free when uninterrupted viewing, downloads or a higher-tier feature is essential, then compare the resulting premium bundle with equivalent premium standalone plans.
- Check every member’s tolerance. A child may not mind ads while a viewer watching long dramas does; the household’s least-tolerant user can determine whether the cheaper tier is realistic.
Do not assume that an ad-supported tier includes every live event, download feature or simultaneous-stream allowance offered by an ad-free tier. Read the plan description attached to the price you are about to buy.

When an on-demand bundle cannot replace live television
Disney+, Hulu, Max, Apple TV+, Peacock, Starz, AMC+ and MGM+ are primarily on-demand services. If your reason for keeping a television package is live sports, local channels, live news or a large channel grid, compare live-TV products separately.
| Service type | Documented U.S. price example | What it is designed to provide |
|---|---|---|
| Hulu + Live TV | $89.99/month, with more than 95 channels | Live channel access combined with on-demand programming |
| YouTube TV | $82.99/month | Live television package |
| Sling | $19.99 to $60.99/month, depending on package | Customizable live-channel packages |
| On-demand bundle | $12.99 to $21.99/month in the reviewed bundle list | Catalog viewing without a traditional channel lineup |
The live-TV prices above are examples reported by Kiplinger and are not like-for-like replacements for the on-demand bundles. If you need local broadcast channels or a particular live game, confirm channel coverage by ZIP code and event before canceling a live package.
Ways to cut the bill beyond choosing a bundle
Rotate subscriptions instead of stacking them
Subscribe during the month when a desired series, movie slate or sports season is active, then cancel before the next renewal when the catalog no longer earns its place. Christopher Hamilton, industry insights manager at Parrot Analytics, describes the benefit this way: “The massive advantage is the ability to easily drop and resubscribe for a period without penalty.”
Rotation works best when you keep a simple calendar of renewal dates and release windows. It is less suitable for a household that watches several services every week or needs uninterrupted access for children.
Use memberships you already pay for
Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime membership, so calculate the incremental streaming cost rather than adding a new standalone bill. Qualifying Walmart+ members may be offered a choice of Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium with ads. Eligibility and current terms vary; open the membership benefits page and confirm the offer before canceling a paid subscription.
Use free services for casual viewing
Tubi, The Roku Channel and Pluto TV provide free, ad-supported programming. Local libraries may also offer television and movies through Hoopla. These services will not necessarily carry a specific Netflix original or the new season you want, but they can supply background viewing and reduce the temptation to retain a paid service for occasional use.
Audit inactive accounts
Search bank and card statements for every recurring video charge, including subscriptions billed through a device store or a mobile provider. Cancel duplicate accounts, old free trials and services no one has opened recently. Keep a note of the next billing date for any service you pause rather than cancel.

A practical switching plan
- List must-watch titles and live requirements. Include each household member and note whether any program requires a live channel, a particular sports package or a local station.
- Map titles to services. Mark Disney+, Hulu, Max, Apple TV+, Peacock, Starz, AMC+ or MGM+ only where a specific viewing need exists.
- Pick the narrowest bundle that covers those needs. Use the Disney+ and Hulu plan for broad family coverage; add Max only when its catalog is genuinely needed.
- Compare equivalent tiers. Match ads with ads and premium features with premium features. Record stream limits, downloads and video quality.
- Check existing benefits. Review Amazon Prime and Walmart+ accounts before purchasing Prime Video, Paramount+ or Peacock separately.
- Set a cancellation reminder. Put the renewal date and the end of a sports season or show release on your calendar.
- Verify checkout. Recheck the price, taxes, ads, included services, renewal amount and cancellation instructions on the provider’s current screen.
- Review after one billing cycle. Look at actual usage. If a service was rarely opened, remove it at the next permitted cancellation point rather than preserving the bundle automatically.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Choosing the biggest discount instead of the right catalog
The $14.98 stated saving on Disney+, Hulu and Max is larger than the $10.99 stated saving on Disney+ and Hulu, but the three-service plan is worse for a household that does not watch Max. Savings exist only against services you would otherwise purchase.
Comparing incompatible tiers
An ad-supported bundle and an ad-free standalone plan deliver different products. Write down the tier name and included features beside every price before deciding.
Assuming a secondary listing is still enrollable
The Apple TV+ and Peacock price in the table requires direct provider verification. Bundle enrollment pages can change, close to new customers or apply only to a particular billing route.

Canceling a live-TV service without checking channel and event coverage can leave a household without local news, a regional sports broadcast or a required channel. Confirm the schedule first.
Forgetting future price changes
Streaming prices have been moving upward. Dan Rayburn, a streaming-video-industry analyst, says, “We’ll continue to see pricing going up for all streaming services, live and on demand.” Treat any quoted amount as a dated snapshot, keep renewal alerts enabled and recheck the bill after a provider announces a change.
What the wider spending numbers mean
The pressure to optimize is measurable. Kiplinger reported Bureau of Labor Statistics data showing roughly a 25% rise in subscription and rental prices for video and video games between March 2024 and March 2026. The same coverage cited Deloitte’s estimate of average U.S. household spending of $69 per month, or $828 annually, on video-on-demand subscriptions. A Tom’s Guide survey from June 2026 found that more than 35% of respondents pay over $60 monthly.
Streaming is widespread but not universal: Kiplinger reported Pew Research Center figures of 83% of U.S. adults using streaming services and 36% having cable or satellite television. Those figures explain why a household may need both an on-demand catalog and a live package, rather than assuming one bundle can replace every form of television.

Best choice by household situation
| Your situation | Starting point | Decision test |
|---|---|---|
| Family wants Disney franchises and adult programming | Disney+ and Hulu | Both services must be used; accept the ad-supported tier or price an equivalent ad-free option |
| Family also watches Max regularly | Disney+, Hulu and Max | Compare $19.99 with the actual three-service lineup, not with Max alone |
| You mainly want Apple originals and NBCUniversal content or selected sports | Apple TV+ and Peacock | Verify enrollment, tiers, ads and sports availability directly |
| You follow premium-network catalogs | Starz, AMC+ and MGM+ | List specific titles and compare with a rotation schedule |
| You already pay for Amazon Prime | Use Prime Video benefit | Count the incremental cost and confirm the membership is active |
| You already pay for Walmart+ | Check Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium benefit | Confirm eligibility and current terms before buying a separate plan |
| You need live channels, local news or sports | Evaluate Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV or Sling | Check channel, regional and event coverage; on-demand bundles are not equivalent |
| You watch one service only during occasional releases | Rotate subscriptions | Subscribe for the release window, then cancel before renewal |
For a broad, low-cost replacement, begin with Disney+ and Hulu if both catalogs fit. Move to the three-service plan only when Max has a continuing role, and use rotation or existing membership benefits when your viewing is seasonal.
