- Secure slack so it cannot swing into a controller or snag a door handle.

Keep the camera windows clean and unobstructed. A strap accessory, cable tie, face cover or decorative shell that intrudes into a camera’s view can reduce tracking reliability even if it does not touch the lenses. Inspect the headset after installing any accessory and before blaming the software for a sudden loss of tracking.

Valve lists the Arcturus Vision Camera as an official Steam Frame Compatible accessory. Its stated purpose is to add 5K HDR color passthrough and spatial-video capture. That makes it relevant to mixed-reality viewing and recording, not to replacing the four monochrome cameras used for the headset’s core tracking architecture.
Choose it when you have a concrete need for color passthrough or spatial capture. If your only goal is stable controller and headset tracking, adding the camera does not remove the need to keep the built-in tracking cameras clear, and it should not be treated as a shortcut around a poorly fitted strap or obstructed lens.
Camera and accessory inspection checklist
- View each camera window under a bright room light and remove fingerprints with an appropriate lens cloth.
- Confirm that a replacement facial interface, strap arm or cable guide does not overlap the camera housings.
