Best picks by the kind of stealth you enjoy
For tactical infiltration: Metal Gear Solid V
Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience is the closest fit here if what you like about Splinter Cell is entering a hostile area, choosing how to approach it, and adapting when the plan changes. Konami describes The Phantom Pain as supporting adaptable tactics and non-linear play. The package includes The Phantom Pain, the prologue Ground Zeroes, and DLC, according to Konami.

It is not a direct copy of Splinter Cell: expect its own tone and mission structure. Pick it for room to improvise, not for an identical take on Sam Fisher-style spycraft.
For disguises and social stealth: Hitman: World of Assassination
Hitman shifts the challenge from staying out of sight to fitting into a crowded place. Observe people and routines, use disguises, and look for openings to reach your objective. PlayStation emphasizes detailed locations, player choice, and replay value, while GamesRadar describes its stealth as blending into public spaces and exploiting opportunities rather than simply hiding in darkness.
#1 Best Overall
- Harsh Open World: Using the power of PlayStation 4 and unreal engine 4, days one offers an incredibly realistic and detailed open world experience. But be careful— day and night cycles, all affect gameplay and enemy behavior
- Brutal Sandbox Combat: Perfect your gameplay with an endless combination of strategy and play in every situation. Craft customized items using pieces and parts found in the field, from brutal melee weapons to traps and more
- Compelling Story: At its core, days gone is about survivors and what makes them human: desperation, loss, madness, betrayal, friendship, brotherhood, regret, love and hope. It’s about how hope never dies
- Play as Deacon St.John, a bounty hunter facing a brutal struggle for survival while searching for a reason to live
Choose it if you enjoy studying a location and trying different routes or plans. Its central pleasure is working through a dense space, not reproducing the dark-corridor feel of a conventional spy thriller.
For supernatural freedom: Dishonored
Dishonored is an adjacent pick rather than a grounded espionage game. Its fantasy world and supernatural abilities change how you move and solve encounters; the appeal is experimentation and choice, not realistic spycraft. It suits players willing to trade a modern intelligence-operation setting for an immersive-sim approach to stealth.

- Experience tactical third-person combat, gameplay choice and epic sharpshooting across gigantic levels as you liberate world War 2 Italy from the grip of fascism.
- Unrivalled sniping freedom. Complete the campaign your way
- epic longshots with bone-crushing X-ray kill Cam
- Team-up or go head-to-head with local & Online multiplayer
- feel every shot with HD rumble & pan the battlefield with gyroscopic controls
For third-person shadow stealth: Aragami
Aragami is a third-person stealth game about an undead assassin who controls shadows. Steam lists single-player as a supported mode. Consider it if you want a stealth-first fantasy premise and a smaller-scale alternative to large tactical sandboxes. It is not a modern spy thriller.

For a cinematic campaign: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the story-led option: PlayStation describes it as a stealth-action remake set during the Cold War, with survival elements. It is a better fit if you want a focused cinematic mission and espionage setting than the open-ended sandbox associated with The Phantom Pain.

- Brought to you by the Art Of Play Interactive in association with King Features Syndicate.
- Choose The Phantom, or his partner Diana Palmer as you head off on a 15 level global mission to take down the pirates of the Singh Brotherhood.
- Use a combination of your hand-to-hand fighting skills as well as your trusty weapons to dispatch evil and fight to retain The Phantom's legacy.
- The Phantom features a NEW official story approved by King Features Syndicate that is presented across beautiful full screen cut scenes, hand illustrated by seasoned comic book artist and existing Phantom contributor Anthony Spay.
For stealth mixed with tactical shooting: Sniper Elite 5
Sniper Elite 5 approaches stealth from the tactical-shooter side. GameSpot discusses weapon customization and an asynchronous multiplayer feature. If you need a strictly solo experience, check the mode attached to the version or activity you plan to play; the presence of multiplayer features alone does not establish that the campaign requires co-op.

How to choose the right match
- Think about how you want to avoid detection. Choose Metal Gear Solid V for tactical infiltration, Hitman for disguises and social blending, or Dishonored and Aragami for supernatural methods.
- Match the mission structure to your patience. The Phantom Pain emphasizes non-linear play; Hitman rewards revisiting detailed locations; Snake Eater is the more directed, story-led choice.
- Decide how grounded the setting should be. The list spans espionage, stylized assassination, fantasy, and wartime tactical action. A shared stealth label does not mean a shared tone.
- Consider how much combat you want. These games differ in how central stealth is and how much room they give you to use other tactics. The cited descriptions do not establish that every encounter must be completed without being detected.
- Check the platform and edition before buying. Product contents and availability can vary by platform and region. Konami confirms the contents of Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience, but the cited information does not establish current retail stock or regional availability.
