The current storefront name is System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster; “Enhanced Edition” is an earlier name. GOG lists a modest minimum configuration, but Steam Support differs from GOG on the required Windows version and storage. Neither official listing reviewed provides a settings-by-settings optimization guide or performance benchmarks.

| Listing | Minimum operating system | Recommended operating system | Storage listed |
|---|---|---|---|

| Steam Support | Windows 7 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit | 5 GB minimum and recommended |
The official pages do not explain the difference, so treat each set as platform-specific rather than combining them into one universal specification. Check the listing for the store where you plan to play: Steam Support’s requirements and GOG’s requirements.
What performance should you expect?
GOG advertises “Up to 144FPS performance with ultra-widescreen support” for the 25th Anniversary Remaster. “Up to” describes a listed feature, not a guarantee that a particular PC will sustain 144 frames per second. The listing does not provide benchmark results or specify hardware and test conditions for that claim.

Which settings should you change for better performance?
The official pages cited here do not enumerate the remaster’s graphics menu, identify setting names or defaults, or publish a tuning guide for low-spec PCs. That means there is no substantiated settings-by-settings recommendation to give from these sources. In particular, specific advice such as lowering a named graphics option should not be mistaken for a Nightdive-tested recommendation.
