To install an Epic Games Store game on Windows, install and open the Epic Games Launcher, select the game in Library, choose an installation folder, and click Install. When the download finishes, select the game’s icon to launch it. Check the game’s own PC requirements as well as the launcher requirements before installing.
Check that Windows and your PC are compatible
Epic’s launcher requirements page lists Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11. It also lists an Intel Core i3 or AMD FX processor, 4 GB of memory, a DirectX 9.0c-compatible graphics card, and 3 GB of storage for the launcher. Each game can set separate requirements for its operating system, processor, memory, and graphics adapter. Compare those requirements with your PC before downloading: meeting a game’s minimum requirements does not necessarily allow it to run at its highest settings. Epic explains how to find your computer’s specifications in its guide to checking whether your PC meets system requirements.
Install a game from the Epic Games Launcher
- Install and open the Epic Games Launcher.
- Select Library in the launcher.
- Find the game you want and select it.
- Choose where to install the game, then select Install.
- Wait for the download and installation to complete. Select the game’s icon in the launcher to start it.
Epic’s documented flow lets you choose the installation directory; it does not prescribe a particular drive. Its instructions give no general estimate for download speed or installation time. See Epic’s installation instructions if the launcher’s screens differ from these steps.

Repair a game’s files if it will not start
If a game has launch problems or you suspect damaged files, use the launcher’s verification tool before reinstalling:
- Open Library.
- Select the game’s three-dot menu.
- Choose Manage, then select Verify.
- Let the check finish; it may take a while.
Epic says verification checks for damaged or corrupted files and repairs files that differ. It also states that saved data will not be affected. Details are in Epic’s guide to verifying game files.

Troubleshoot launcher problems
If the game or launcher still will not open, try the checks that best match the problem. Epic’s troubleshooting guidance includes checking service status, updating the launcher, confirming system requirements, clearing the launcher web cache, running the launcher as administrator, and updating graphics drivers.
