These are different kinds of tactical games rather than interchangeable products. Door Kickers: the clearest squad-command match

That structure rewards anticipation: a route that looks safe on the map may expose a team member when a door opens, while a well-timed breach can let several troopers cover one another. Because orders are planned before execution, the game feels closer to directing an intervention than to issuing one command per turn.
Touch controls matter particularly in a route-planning game. The listing describes interfaces designed for touch, so check the current screenshots and control notes on Google Play before buying if you use a small phone. A larger display can make room layouts and drawn paths easier to read, but the available sources do not establish a universal screen-size requirement.

The current Google Play listing, accessed October 9, 2026, advertises 80 single missions, six campaigns, a mission generator and more than 65 weapons and gear items. Those are the publisher’s product-content counts, not a benchmark of difficulty, replay value or performance. The same listing says the game can be played offline and shows a December 9, 2025 update date.
The mission generator is significant if you want repeatable scenarios after completing authored missions. It does not turn the game into an online service: the listing’s offline claim describes access without a network connection, while the generated content is presented as part of the game itself.
Who should choose it?
- Choose it if drawing routes, coordinating a team and deciding where to breach are more appealing than managing a long technology tree.
- Choose it if you want short mission-based sessions rather than committing to one extended campaign every time you play.
- Choose it if offline access is important, subject to the current local listing and any platform restrictions.
It is a less natural fit if you specifically want a broad strategic layer, character-driven campaign or science-fiction setting. In that case, XCOM 2 Collection is the stronger alternative.
XCOM 2 Collection: the substantial turn-based campaign
XCOM 2 Collection is the pick for players who want squad combat inside a larger campaign. Missions are turn-based, so you normally plan a move, attack or ability for each soldier before the opposing side acts. Between battles, the campaign layer asks you to make longer-term decisions about research, resources, recruitment and the resistance effort.
What the Android collection contains
In its September 8, 2026 announcement, Feral Interactive states that the Android collection combines the War of the Chosen expansion and four DLC packs into one package. That is important when comparing it with a base-game-only version: the collection is intended to provide the expanded campaign and additional content together, rather than asking you to assemble separate purchases.

Feral also says the Android release has intuitive new interfaces, redesigned touchscreen controls and extensive optimization. Those statements describe the publisher’s design goals and implementation; they are not independent tests of frame rate, battery life, load times or crash frequency on every phone.
Monetization and price checking
Feral’s announcement says the collection has no in-app purchases. A secondary Android guide published in August 2026 reports a price that conflicts with the figure in the publisher announcement, so quoting either number as a universal current price would be misleading. Open the Google Play page from your own country and check the amount shown on your device.
The same regional check should cover refunds, family-library eligibility and whether your handset is supported. A listing being visible on the web does not prove that every Android device or country can install it.
Who should choose it?
- Choose it when campaign continuity, soldier development and a science-fiction resistance story matter as much as individual firefights.
- Choose it when you prefer deliberate turns and want time to consider cover, movement and ability use before committing.
- Choose it when you want a premium-style package without in-app purchases, while accepting that the one-time store price differs by region and may change.
This is a bigger commitment than a standalone mission game. If you mainly want a five-minute tactical puzzle, Into the Breach is a better-shaped experience.

Into the Breach is turn-based, but it is not a realistic small-unit simulator. Its battles are compact board problems: threats are visible, each action changes the position of units and hazards, and success comes from finding a sequence that prevents the worst outcome. The emphasis is on prediction and spatial reasoning rather than reproducing a room-clearing operation.
Why it belongs on this list
For some Android players, “squad tactics” means making several units work together under pressure, not necessarily commanding a realistic military team. Into the Breach meets that broader definition. It is especially useful when you want a tactical game that can be learned in discrete encounters and resumed without remembering a large campaign state.
Its compact structure also makes it a useful contrast with XCOM 2 Collection. Both are turn-based, yet the decision density is different: XCOM asks you to think about a squad’s development across missions, while Into the Breach concentrates on the immediate board and the consequences of the next move.

Netflix access needs verification
An AndroidHire guide accessed October 9, 2026 describes Into the Breach as available through a Netflix plan. That is a secondary, time-sensitive description rather than a permanent guarantee. Check the current Google Play listing, the game’s publisher page and the terms of your own plan before treating a subscription as your access route. Availability can change by country, plan and platform.

Do not assume that “available through a subscription” means every account receives identical access. Store visibility, sign-in requirements and supported devices are determined by the current service and regional listing.
Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus: free-to-play roster tactics
Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus takes the squad concept into a licensed universe and a collection-oriented structure. Battles use grids and a roster of units, making positioning and turn order central, while the broader loop is aimed at players who enjoy building a range of characters and returning for different modes.
How it differs from premium campaign games
This is not the same proposition as buying a self-contained campaign. Secondary coverage describes PvE and competitive modes, giving you reasons to maintain a roster beyond a single authored storyline. That can be attractive if you like variety and ongoing progression; it can be frustrating if you want a fixed, offline package with no store prompts.

Turn-based campaign management
Pick XCOM 2 Collection when you want every move to be discrete and meaningful, with tactical battles connected to strategic decisions outside the mission. The campaign layer is the reason to choose it over a shorter mission-based game.
Turn-based puzzle solving
Pick Into the Breach when you want the board itself to be the main problem. It is a better fit for players who enjoy calculating a safe sequence than for players seeking a simulation of infantry tactics.

Pick Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus when the appeal is assembling a broad unit collection and playing recurring PvE or competitive encounters. Its free-to-play structure should be part of the decision, not an afterthought.

Door Kickers is the only title in this shortlist whose Google Play description explicitly says offline. That statement comes from the listing and should still be checked against the current install page. Offline support does not guarantee that every first launch, update or account check works without a connection.
The reviewed sources do not establish offline operation for XCOM 2 Collection, Into the Breach or Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus. Do not infer it from their turn-based structure. Subscription authentication, online services or account requirements can apply even when battles themselves are not real-time.
One-time purchase versus subscription
Feral says XCOM 2 Collection has no in-app purchases, but the current one-time price is regional and changeable. The secondary description of Into the Breach points to Netflix access, so the relevant cost is your plan and whether the game remains included. For Door Kickers, use the local Play listing for the amount shown at checkout. Tacticus is described by secondary coverage as free with ads and in-app purchases, which lowers the entry barrier but changes the spending model.

Android compatibility and setup checklist

Assuming a web listing guarantees installation
Google Play is country- and device-sensitive. A game can be visible in a browser yet unavailable to a particular handset or account. Always check from the target device and region.
Assuming Door Kickers 2 is an Android option
KillHouse Games’ official Door Kickers 2 – Task Force North page describes a top-down real-time tactics game with pause-at-will, more than 90 handcrafted missions and online co-op for up to four players. The reviewed page does not establish Android support, so it is not included as an Android recommendation here.
Which game should you install first?
Install Door Kickers first if your mental picture is a team entering rooms under your direction and you want to plan routes before releasing the action.
