Short answer: Start with HITMAN World of Assassination if you want the closest Bond-like mix of disguises, social stealth, globe-trotting spy-thriller presentation and replayable plans. Choose Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for open-world infiltration and flexible gadgets, Splinter Cell Blacklist for classic covert-agent action, or Dishonored Definitive Edition for supernatural powers and assassination routes shaped by your choices.
The premise needs an update: IO Interactive’s 007 First Light launched worldwide on May 27, 2026. It is a young James Bond origin story and a third-person action-adventure that blends stealth and action, so these games work best as companions to First Light, alternatives when you want a different stealth style, or follow-ups after finishing it.

What makes a game feel like 007 First Light?
Bond’s appeal is broader than simply hiding in shadows. A convincing spy fantasy usually combines infiltration, information gathering, gadgets, disguises, controlled violence, improvisation and a strong sense of place. The best comparison therefore depends on which part of that fantasy you want most.

- Social stealth: You enter restricted spaces by looking like someone who belongs there, then turn a plan into an apparent accident.
- Systemic infiltration: You scout a large area, manipulate equipment and enemies, and improvise when the original route fails.
- Covert-agent role-play: You operate as a trained intelligence professional using a defined kit and mission objectives.
- Powers-driven stealth: You create routes and solutions that would be impossible for a realistic spy, while still rewarding patience and observation.
First Light itself sits between action and stealth in a third-person format. The games below cover the surrounding possibilities rather than pretending that any one of them duplicates its Bond origin story.

This table is a starting point, not a quality ranking. Each game answers a different version of the question “What should I play after 007 First Light?”
1. HITMAN World of Assassination: the closest overall Bond-like sandbox
Why it fits
HITMAN World of Assassination is the best first recommendation for a player who wants espionage as a social performance. The official PlayStation description presents it as a spy-thriller adventure with more than 20 locations, unlockable gear, strategic planning and highly replayable missions. Those ingredients map neatly to the fantasy of entering a glamorous destination, learning how it works, and leaving without anyone understanding what happened.
Disguises are the central attraction. Instead of treating stealth as simply staying out of sight, the game asks you to manage access, timing and suspicion. A uniform can open one area while making another character suspicious; a public space can be safe until you carry the wrong item or behave in a way that does not fit your assumed identity. That makes observation as important as aim.

A first attempt is often reconnaissance. You discover routes, routines, security boundaries and opportunities. A later attempt lets you apply that knowledge with a cleaner plan, a different disguise or a more controlled exit. Because the locations are curated rather than procedurally anonymous, learning their layout has lasting value.
This is also the strongest choice if you like experimenting with gear. The game’s planning loop encourages you to decide what to carry, where to begin and how much risk to accept before entering a location. When a plan goes wrong, improvisation becomes part of the mission rather than an automatic failure state.
Who should choose it
- Choose it for disguises, social stealth and a globe-trotting spy-thriller tone.
- Choose it if you want missions that become richer after several attempts.
- Choose it if you prefer strategic planning and improvisation to a strictly linear sequence of corridors.
It is a weaker fit if you want a realistic military operation, a continuous third-person campaign or a single authored route through every objective. Its Bond proximity comes from the fantasy of the professional operative moving through elite environments, not from reproducing Bond’s exact story or camera perspective.

2. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain: best for open-world infiltration
Why it fits
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the pick for players who imagine Bond operating across a broad country rather than inside a single tightly designed facility. Konami describes open-world environments, realistic weather, day-and-night cycles, expanded close-quarters combat and improved enemy artificial intelligence. These systems make infiltration feel like a changing field problem instead of a fixed puzzle.
The open spaces give you room to choose an approach. You can study the environment, adapt to visibility and use the available tools to create an entry or escape route. Weather and time matter because they change what can be seen and how an encounter develops. The result is less about performing one perfect cinematic trick and more about managing a sequence of decisions under pressure.
Why it is different from HITMAN
HITMAN’s strongest fantasy is social access: blending into a location and manipulating the people inside it. The Phantom Pain’s strongest fantasy is operational infiltration: reaching a target in a hostile area, using equipment and close-quarters techniques, and responding to enemy behavior. It is a better match for the gadget-heavy, field-operative side of Bond than for the tuxedo-and-disguise side.
Its replayability comes from systemic variation. The same broad objective can feel different when visibility changes, when enemy behavior responds to your previous tactics, or when you decide to use a different tool. You are not simply repeating a memorized route; you are testing how the systems interact.
Edition and purchase note
Konami’s Definitive Experience bundle contains The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes and downloadable content. Check the exact contents and platform generation before buying, because edition names and availability can vary by region and storefront. Prices, physical stock and used-versus-new condition are also volatile.
Who should choose it
- Choose it for large infiltration spaces and flexible approaches.
- Choose it if changing weather and day/night cycles are part of the appeal.
- Choose it for military espionage, gadgets and close-quarters combat.
It is less suitable if you want every mission to take place in a polished social setting or if a tightly authored, linear campaign is more important to you than systemic freedom.

3. Splinter Cell Blacklist: best classic covert-agent experience
Why it fits
Splinter Cell Blacklist is the clearest choice for readers who want to inhabit a traditional secret agent. Ubisoft describes Splinter Cell as cinematic stealth action starring Sam Fisher, an elite covert agent in the NSA’s Third Echelon. The Blacklist description presents a stealth-action thriller that moves through exotic locations and includes signature equipment such as the sticky shocker.
That framing puts the operative, his equipment and the mission briefing at the center. You are not an anonymous problem-solver or a supernatural assassin. You are Sam Fisher, a trained professional expected to enter hostile territory, control the situation and complete an intelligence operation.
What the stealth feels like
Blacklist is built around deliberate infiltration. Light, concealment, positioning and the timing of equipment use matter more than simply sprinting toward an objective. The night-vision gadget fantasy and nonlethal tools create the familiar covert-operations rhythm: observe, move, disable a threat and continue before the alarm spreads.

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThe cinematic presentation makes it a natural companion for someone who likes Bond’s fieldcraft but wants a more mission-by-mission structure. Operations are easier to understand as discrete assignments, which can make the game feel more focused than an open-world system sandbox.
Replayability and limitations
Blacklist offers less of HITMAN’s social experimentation and less of The Phantom Pain’s open-ended geography. Its replay value instead comes from refining an operation, trying a different degree of aggression and mastering the equipment. That makes it a good bridge between pure stealth and action: you can play methodically without requiring every encounter to be solved in exactly one way.
Physical availability varies by platform and region, so verify the edition and supported system before purchase. Do not assume that a listing with the same title contains identical extras or compatibility.
Who should choose it
- Choose it for classic covert-agent role-play and cinematic stealth action.
- Choose it if Sam Fisher’s professional identity matters as much as the mechanics.
- Choose it for gadget-focused, mission-by-mission operations in exotic locations.
4. Dishonored Definitive Edition: best for powers and player choice
Why it fits
Dishonored Definitive Edition is the deliberate left turn. Bethesda’s official description emphasizes that each assassination can be approached in your own style, with abilities such as teleportation, possession and time stopping available for stealth approaches. It is not realistic espionage, but it captures the creative problem-solving that many players want from a spy game.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Where Bond uses equipment and training to reach an objective, Dishonored lets you alter the rules of the space itself. Teleportation can create a route around a guard. Possession can let you pass through a threat from an unexpected position. Time stopping can turn a dangerous moment into a carefully arranged sequence. These powers make stealth feel expressive rather than merely restrictive.
How choice changes the experience
The game is designed around multiple routes and consequences. You can pursue a quieter, nonlethal solution or accept a more violent path, then see the world respond to the style of play you chose. That makes each level useful as a test of judgment: the question is not only whether you reached the target, but what kind of operative you became while doing it.
Its dense environments reward close observation. Look for alternate paths, vertical access and opportunities that become visible only after you understand how your abilities interact with the level. A second playthrough can feel substantially different when you change your powers or your approach to lethal and nonlethal outcomes.
Who should choose it
- Choose it for first-person stealth and creative routes.
- Choose it if supernatural abilities are more appealing than realistic gadgets.
- Choose it for nonlethal experimentation and a world that reacts to player choices.
It is the least direct Bond simulation in this list. Its value is that it isolates the imaginative, improvisational side of spy fantasy and pushes it beyond realism.
How to choose the right game for your preferred Bond fantasy
If disguises and social access matter most
Pick HITMAN World of Assassination. It is the only recommendation here whose defining loop is entering a location through identity, timing and social behavior. Start there if your favorite Bond scenes involve parties, hotels, museums or other public spaces where the challenge is looking as though you belong.
If gadgets and field operations matter most
Pick Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for broad environments and systemic tools, or Splinter Cell Blacklist for a more focused covert-agent campaign. The deciding question is whether you want open-ended operational planning or a cinematic sequence of assignments.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
If you want a recognizable professional agent
Pick Splinter Cell Blacklist. Sam Fisher’s identity and equipment give the game a direct covert-operations frame, while its mission structure keeps the experience focused.
If you want stealth that bends reality
Pick Dishonored Definitive Edition. Teleportation, possession and time stopping create possibilities that no realistic spy kit can offer, and the game lets you decide how much violence or restraint defines your route.

If replayability is your priority
HITMAN has the clearest replay-first structure because its large locations, gear and strategic planning support repeated attempts. Dishonored follows with high route variation and powers-driven experimentation. The Phantom Pain rewards repeated systemic approaches in changing conditions, while Blacklist offers a more contained form of refinement across missions.
A practical play order alongside 007 First Light
- Start with HITMAN World of Assassination if you want to extend First Light’s spy-thriller mood with social stealth and replayable destinations.
- Move to Splinter Cell Blacklist if you want a more traditional covert-agent identity and mission-by-mission pacing.
- Play Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain when you are ready for larger spaces, military espionage and systems that can produce unexpected outcomes.
- Finish with Dishonored Definitive Edition for a creative, supernatural interpretation of infiltration and assassination.
You can reverse that order if open-world experimentation is your priority. The sequence is about changing stealth styles, not following a shared story; none of these games is a direct continuation of First Light.
Availability, editions and buying cautions
Game availability is a moving target. Physical stock, supported platforms, regional storefronts, bundled downloadable content and prices can change after publication. Before buying, verify the platform, edition name, included content and whether the listing is new or used.
- HITMAN World of Assassination: Verify that the edition includes the locations and content you expect; the official listing emphasizes more than 20 locations, unlockable gear and replayable missions.
- Metal Gear Solid V: Compare the standalone game with the Definitive Experience bundle, which includes The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes and downloadable content.
- Splinter Cell Blacklist: Check regional and platform availability carefully because physical inventory varies.
- Dishonored Definitive Edition: Confirm that the listing is the Definitive Edition rather than a different release of the game.
These checks matter more than chasing a particular price. A cheaper listing that omits expected content or does not run on your system is not the same product.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

| Your priority | Best choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Closest overall Bond-like fantasy | HITMAN World of Assassination | Disguises, social stealth, strategic planning and highly replayable spy-thriller locations. |
| Open-world infiltration | Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain | Large environments, weather, day/night cycles, gadgets and flexible military operations. |

Because 007 First Light is already available as of May 27, 2026, the useful question is no longer what to play before a release. It is which stealth fantasy you want beside a third-person Bond origin story: social manipulation, open-field infiltration, disciplined covert operations or supernatural creativity.
