Start with 720p (1280×720) at 30 fps, then keep it only if your PC encodes smoothly and your internet connection sustains the stream. This is a practical starting point for a mostly static or slow-moving bhajan visual—not an official YouTube preset. If the computer struggles, test 480p30. A stable continuous stream matters more than a higher resolution that drops frames or stalls.
Why 720p30 is a sensible starting point
Bhajan streams often pair audio with a static or slowly changing image. For that use, 60 fps usually adds little practical value, while 30 fps reduces the amount of video work compared with 60 fps. This is a content-specific judgment, not a YouTube rule or a published bhajan quality test.

YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers on different devices and network conditions. You do not need to send 1080p solely to make the stream watchable across devices. Whether your particular low-end PC can encode 720p30 continuously depends on its CPU, GPU or hardware encoder, software, and background workload; without those details, performance cannot be predicted.

YouTube Help’s current encoder guidance (publication year not stated; verified 2026) lists the following video bitrates. These are ingestion recommendations, not a guarantee that your internet connection can sustain them.

YouTube lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 as video codec options. A low-end PC may not have an efficient hardware encoder for AV1 or H.265, so choose only a codec the installed encoder actually supports. YouTube’s guidance specifies CBR video encoding, a two-second keyframe interval (not exceeding four seconds), AAC or MP3 audio, and stereo audio at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz. Set up and test the stream before going nonstop
- Choose output: Set resolution to 1280×720 and frame rate to 30 fps. Select H.264 if your PC’s encoder supports it smoothly.
- Set video encoding: Choose CBR and a two-second keyframe interval. For H.264 at 720p30, YouTube recommends 8 Mbps, but use a bitrate your tested upload connection can sustain reliably.
- Set audio: Where available, choose AAC stereo at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz, matching YouTube’s published guidance.
- Check upload capacity: Run an upload speed test and choose settings for a reliable connection. A speed-test result is not proof that the connection will remain stable throughout a nonstop broadcast.
- Run a representative test: Test before the broadcast with audio and movement similar to the planned stream. YouTube says tests should include audio and movement like those in the stream. A static devotional image alone may not reveal problems caused by transitions or animation.
- Watch stream health: Check YouTube’s live health indicators and messages during the test and broadcast. YouTube identifies low bitrate, frame-rate mismatch, missing audio, and insufficient incoming video as potential issues; insufficient video ingestion can cause viewer buffering.
- Step down if needed: If encoding or delivery is unstable, try 480p30 and set a bitrate appropriate to the connection, then repeat the test.

720p30 or 480p30: which should you keep?
Compare the two settings using the conditions that actually determine a successful continuous broadcast:

- Encoding stability: Does the PC maintain the selected output without struggling or dropping frames?
- Upload stability: Can the connection reliably sustain the chosen bitrate over time, rather than merely reaching it briefly?
- Visual need: Is the added detail at 720p worthwhile for a mostly static stream, given the additional encoding and bandwidth load?
YouTube publishes bitrate recommendations, but not a low-end-PC threshold or a bhajan-specific comparison that identifies one resolution as universally best.

Common problems and what to try
- Video stutters or drops frames: The PC may not be encoding the chosen resolution smoothly. Test 480p30; also check whether other work is consuming system resources.
- Viewers buffer or YouTube reports insufficient incoming video: The incoming feed may be too slow or inconsistent. Test upload capacity, lower the bitrate or output, and run the stream test again.
- Stream health reports a frame-rate mismatch: Check that the encoder’s configured frame rate matches the selected output, such as 30 fps.
- There is no audio: Verify the audio source is active and that the encoder is sending AAC or MP3 audio; check the stereo sample rate and bitrate settings.
- The stream works with a still image but not transitions: Repeat testing with representative movement and transitions, since a static test may not reveal the full encoding load.

Can I use 60 fps for a bhajan stream?
You can if your setup supports it, but a mostly static or slow-moving visual usually has little practical need for 60 fps.
