The best PS5 Pro game for sharper graphics or smoother performance depends on what that particular game’s upgrade changes. Sony says compatible games can combine PSSR-enhanced 4K output, ray tracing and high frame rates, but results vary by title. For a large-scale RPG, start with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth; for a more stable image in a dark, atmospheric game, consider Silent Hill 2; and for action games, look at Monster Hunter Wilds, Nioh 3 or Rise of the Ronin. These are examples to explore, not a measured performance ranking.
What a PS5 Pro enhancement can—and cannot—promise
Sony says the PS5 Pro has more than 100 enhanced PS5 titles, a count from Sony’s current US product page rather than an independently audited total. Its description says compatible games can run at 60fps or up to 120fps with ray tracing and AI-enhanced 4K resolution using PSSR on a 4K TV. The important qualifier is compatible games: Sony also says results vary by title. Sony’s PS5 Pro product page

PSSR is Sony’s AI-based image upscaling technology. In its March 16, 2026 announcement about upgraded PSSR, Sony described improved image stability and clearer fine details. Those are Sony’s stated benefits, not independent comparative test results. The announcement names the games below as receiving upgraded PSSR support; it does not establish a measured frame rate, rendered resolution or percentage improvement for each one. PS5 Pro games to consider by what you want to see
For a large-scale RPG and fine visual detail: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Sony specifically names Final Fantasy VII Rebirth as a game receiving upgraded PSSR. The announcement says the upgraded technology improves fine detail and image stability, making it a strong pick if you want to explore a large RPG world while looking for those image-quality benefits. Sony does not provide a title-specific measured resolution or frame-rate figure in the announcement.
#1 Best Overall
- Ray Tracing - Immerse yourself in worlds with a new level of realism as rays of light are individually simulated, creating true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
For dark, cinematic atmosphere: Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 2 is on Sony’s upgraded PSSR list. Its atmospheric presentation makes it a natural choice if image stability and clearer detail are the improvements you care about; those benefits are described by Sony for the upgraded PSSR, not as a separate independent test of this game.
For Remedy’s image-quality improvements: Alan Wake 2 and Control
Remedy Graphics Technical Director Tatu Aalto said, “The upgraded PSSR improves image upscaling quality and stability.” He added that “Control and, especially, Alan Wake 2 benefit from these improvements on the Pro, resulting in better, more stable image quality.” That is a developer’s description of the upgrades, not a third-party benchmark or a promise of a particular frame rate. Both games are discussed in Sony’s announcement.
For action and detailed environments: Monster Hunter Wilds
Sony lists Monster Hunter Wilds among the games adopting upgraded PSSR. It is worth considering if you want to see how the image-quality update applies to action and detailed environments, but the announcement does not substantiate a specific frame-rate gain for the game.

For a choice between Fidelity and Performance modes: Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Sony says Dragon Age: The Veilguard supports upgraded PSSR and quotes BioWare Studio Technical Director Maciej Kurowski describing image-quality improvements while maintaining stable frame rates in Fidelity and Performance modes. That is BioWare’s statement; it should not be read as an independent measurement or a guarantee of identical results in both modes.
For fast action and natural detail: Nioh 3 and Rise of the Ronin
Sony names both games as adopting upgraded PSSR. Nioh 3 Producer Kohei Shibata said the update sharpens the edges of natural objects and preserves detail during fast action. That specific developer comment concerns Nioh 3; Sony’s announcement does not give a comparable title-specific description or measured performance figure for Rise of the Ronin.

Quick Recap
How to choose the right game for your setup
- Choose by the improvement you value. If fine detail or a steadier image matters most, start with the games and developer comments above. If you want a particular frame rate or resolution, check current game-specific information rather than assuming every Pro-enhanced title delivers the same combination.
- Match the game to your taste. The shortlist spans large RPGs, atmospheric horror, action games and cinematic titles; an upgrade is more worthwhile when you want to play the game itself.
- Check whether you already own it. If one of these titles is already in your library, its Pro enhancement may be an easy way to explore the console’s benefits before buying another game.
- Verify current regional availability. Sony’s Store category is regional and can change, so use the store for your region to confirm a title’s current listing.
