Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →For most PCs, start at 1920×1080, use the High preset, and target 60 fps. That is the configuration Steam estimates for its recommended profile. If your computer is closer to the listed baseline, select Low at 1080p and keep the same 60-fps target. Steam warns that graphics-intensive scenes can still dip below 60 fps, so treat those figures as targets rather than guarantees.
The remaster supports resolutions up to 3840×2160 on Steam when the connected monitor supports them, but the published performance estimate is only for 1080p. Use 1440p or 4K as an image-quality experiment, then lower the preset if frame rate or frame-time consistency suffers.

Recommended settings at a glance
| PC situation | Resolution | Preset | Frame-rate target | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meets or exceeds the published recommended class | 1920×1080 | High | 60 fps or your display’s 60 Hz target | Matches Steam’s official recommended estimate; demanding scenes may still reduce frame rate. |
| Near the published minimum class | 1920×1080 | Low | 60 fps | Matches Steam’s official minimum estimate; drops are possible in graphics-intensive scenes. |
| 1440p monitor | 2560×1440 | Start with High, then reduce one preset step if needed | Up to 60 fps | 1440p performance is not officially estimated, so validate in your own demanding areas. |
| 4K monitor | 3840×2160 | Start with Low or Medium if available, then raise settings gradually | Up to 60 fps | 4K is supported according to the specification, but no 4K performance figure is published. |
These recommendations use the two performance notes on the Steam listing: 1080p/60 fps at Low for the minimum profile and 1080p/60 fps at High for the recommended profile. The listing does not provide per-option benchmarks, so there is no evidence-based ranking of individual effects.

| Component | Published specification |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 11 on the Steam listing; Bandai Namco’s specification covers Windows 10 and Windows 11. |
| Processor | Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100. |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM. |
| Graphics | Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti with 1 GB, AMD Radeon HD 7770 with 2 GB, or Intel Arc A310 with 4 GB. |
| API | DirectX 12. |
| Storage | Steam shows 8 GB available space; Bandai Namco recommends approximately 9 GB on Steam and specifies an HDD. |
| Steam display support | Up to 3840×2160, depending on the connected monitor. |
| Recommended maximum frame rate | 60 fps. |
The Windows and storage figures come from two official pages with slightly different wording. In practice, use Windows 10 or 11 as covered by Bandai Namco, and reserve at least 9 GB so the installation and updates have room. Steam’s 8 GB figure is the available-space value shown on its store page, not a promise that future patches will never need additional space.
The processor and graphics classes are presented as the published baseline. Steam’s notes attach the Low and High estimates to minimum and recommended profiles, but the public listing does not give a separate, higher recommended CPU or GPU model. Do not interpret the estimate as a benchmark for every card that happens to meet one of those names.
Install the current version before tuning
Bandai Namco’s Japanese site identifies Steam version 2.0.0 and an approximately 7 GB launch update. Apply that update before judging frame rate, stutter or loading behavior. A performance test made before the patch can reflect launch software rather than the current build.

- After updating, use Installed Files and choose Verify integrity of game files if the game crashes, displays missing assets or behaves differently between launches.
- Restart Steam after a large update, then launch the game once before changing several settings at the same time. This gives you a clean post-update baseline.
Keep the game on a drive with the required free space. The official specification calls out HDD storage, so an HDD is within the stated configuration; an SSD may improve loading time, but no official source claims a specific frame-rate gain from changing drives.
How to choose resolution, preset and frame-rate target
1080p on a PC at or above the recommended class
Select 1920×1080 and High first. Use a 60-fps cap or a 60 Hz display target rather than chasing an unconfirmed higher frame rate. This is the only High-preset performance combination Steam explicitly estimates. If your display runs at a higher refresh rate, the official materials still recommend a maximum of 60 fps, so leave the game at 60 unless a later update documents another mode.

1080p on minimum-class hardware
Choose Low at 1920×1080. Steam estimates 60 fps for this profile, while also warning that graphics-intensive scenes can reduce the rate. Start with the full Low preset instead of changing isolated effects; the sources do not identify which individual option consumes the most frame time. If a scene still stutters, lower only one setting at a time so you can identify whether the change helps.
1440p
The specification permits resolutions up to 3840×2160, which includes 2560×1440. It does not publish a 1440p frame-rate estimate. Begin with High if your 1080p result is comfortably stable, then test a demanding area. If frame time becomes uneven, return to 1080p or drop the preset one step before making further changes.
4K
Set 3840×2160 only when the monitor supports it and you are willing to trade visual sharpness for a lower preset. There is no official 4K benchmark, and the published 60-fps notes are specifically for 1080p. Use Low first on hardware close to the baseline; on a faster PC, raise the preset one step at a time and stop when the game no longer holds your 60-fps target.
Frame-rate caps
Bandai Namco lists 60 fps as the recommended maximum. The supplied specifications do not confirm an unlocked mode or a higher supported cap. If the game exposes a frame-rate option, choose 60. If it does not, use your graphics driver or display’s frame-rate control only as a general PC measure; do not assume an external cap creates an officially supported mode.
Changing settings without losing track of what helped
- From the title screen or pause menu, open the game’s Options or Settings screen and locate the graphics section.
- Set the display resolution to 1920×1080 for your first test, then choose Low or High according to the hardware guidance above.
- Apply the changes and revisit the same demanding location, battle or camera angle for each comparison. A different scene can make a setting appear better or worse simply because the workload changed.
- Change one variable per test. If a full-preset change helps, keep it; if not, restore the preset and test the next available option individually.
- Record whether the problem is a consistently low frame rate, a brief hitch during a transition, or a visual artifact. Each symptom points to a different next step.
The official material does not document the exact menu labels for every PC build. If your build uses different wording, look for the equivalent display-resolution, quality-preset and frame-rate controls rather than assuming an option exists because another PC game includes it.

What to do when Tales of Eternia Remastered stutters
1. Establish whether it is a sustained frame-rate drop
A sustained drop means the game remains below your target while the camera shows a busy scene. A short hitch is a frame-time spike that quickly recovers. Test both an ordinary field area and a graphics-intensive battle so you do not mistake a scene-specific dip for a system-wide problem.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2. Apply the broadest safe change first
At 1080p, move from High to Low and retest. This is the only adjustment directly supported by the official Low and High estimates. If Low resolves the problem, raise the preset once and test again. Because no source ranks individual settings, avoid claims such as “shadows are always the heaviest option”; the evidence does not establish that.
3. Reduce output resolution when the GPU is the limit
If lowering the preset has little effect but 1440p or 4K is enabled, return to 1920×1080. The specification confirms high-resolution output, not high-resolution performance. A stable 1080p/60 result is preferable to a fluctuating 4K image when smooth control matters.
4. Check the update and files
Confirm that Steam version 2.0.0 and the approximately 7 GB launch update are installed. If the game reports missing files, crashes after a patch or shows inconsistent assets, run Steam’s file-integrity check before changing drivers or deleting configuration data.
5. Remove avoidable background load
Close recording, browser and overlay applications for a comparison run, and make sure Windows is not downloading an update simultaneously. These steps are general PC isolation measures, not title-specific fixes; they help determine whether another process is competing for CPU, memory or disk time.

6. Check the memory and operating-system baseline
The published requirement is 4 GB RAM and a 64-bit operating system. A system that technically meets 4 GB but is heavily using virtual memory can hitch when other applications are open. Test with the game as the only demanding application, then compare the result.
7. Keep scene-specific dips in perspective
Steam explicitly warns that graphics-intensive scenes may reduce frame rate, including on the profiles associated with its 60-fps estimates. If the game is smooth elsewhere and only busy scenes dip briefly, a small preset reduction is more appropriate than assuming the installation is broken.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Remastered graphics, original graphics and SFX modes
The remaster adds separate Graphics Mode and SFX Mode toggles, allowing remastered or original visuals and sound effects. Choose the remastered modes for the updated presentation or the original modes for the classic look and audio.
These toggles are presentation choices. No official source claims that original graphics or original SFX deliver a defined frame-rate increase, so do not switch modes expecting a measured performance fix. If you prefer one mode visually, keep it and tune the preset or resolution for performance.
Remaster features that affect play, not PC performance
Destination markers, encounter controls, high-speed auto-battle, Battle Retry, Quick Recovery and additional difficulty options change navigation or combat flow. They are useful accessibility and convenience features, but the official announcements do not tie them to a GPU, CPU or frame-rate setting. Enable them according to how you want to play rather than as optimization switches.

Capabilities that are not confirmed by the published specifications
The available official material does not confirm ultrawide display support, DLSS, FSR, ray tracing or an unlocked frame-rate mode. It also does not provide per-setting benchmark results, 1440p or 4K frame-rate targets, or a measured difference between remastered and original presentation modes. If you see one of these options in a driver utility or community guide, treat it as an external or unofficial configuration and verify stability yourself.
A practical test plan for your PC
- Update to Steam version 2.0.0, restart Steam and verify files if necessary.
- Set 1920×1080, the Low preset and a 60-fps target. Play through a normal exploration segment and a busy battle.
- If Low is stable, switch to High and repeat the same scenes.
- If High is stable at 1080p, test 2560×1440. Keep High only if frame pacing remains smooth; otherwise return to 1080p or lower the preset.
- For 4K, begin at Low, then increase quality one step at a time. Stop at the first setting that causes recurring dips.
- Use the Graphics Mode and SFX Mode toggles to select your preferred presentation after performance is stable.
This sequence separates the variables the official information does establish—1080p, Low or High, and a 60-fps target—from higher-resolution experiments for which no published estimate exists.
Bottom line for common PC questions
Can a baseline PC run 1080p at 60 fps?
Steam estimates 1080p/60 fps at Low for its minimum profile, but warns that graphics-intensive scenes can drop frames. The estimate is not a guarantee for every system matching the listed component names.

What should a recommended PC use?
Start at 1920×1080 with High and a 60-fps target. This matches Steam’s recommended estimate and gives you a clear baseline for testing.
Does the game support 4K?
Yes, the Bandai Namco specification allows up to 3840×2160 on Steam when the connected monitor supports that resolution. The official performance estimate remains 1080p, so 4K requires your own testing and may need a lower preset.
Will original graphics or sound effects improve performance?
The game lets you toggle remastered and original graphics and SFX, but no official statement assigns either mode a performance advantage.
