If you want a PC gamepad for less than a Sony DualSense, the two options in this roundup are the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wired for a low-cost wired pick and the GameSir G7 SE for a more feature-rich wired model. The price snapshots behind this comparison are US-oriented: the Ultimate 2C Wired was listed at $19.99 in a 2026 roundup, the G7 SE at $44.99 at Amazon in Windows Central’s buying guide, and the DualSense at around $60 in TechRadar’s 2026 comparison. These are reported prices, not live quotes; check the exact listing and variant before buying.

Which controller should you buy?

Choose the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wired if keeping the price as low as possible matters most and you are comfortable playing over a cable. Choose the GameSir G7 SE if you want remappable rear buttons, an audio jack and GameSir Nexus app support, and are willing to pay more for those features. Both options discussed here are wired picks; neither is the right choice if wireless play is a requirement.

Controller Reported US price Connection and notable features What to check
8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wired $19.99, listed by GamepadSquire in a 2026 roundup Wired. The cited listing concerns the wired model; wireless-model specifications should not be assumed to apply. Confirm the listing says Wired. Source: GamepadSquire.
GameSir G7 SE $44.99 at Amazon, as reported by Windows Central in its 2026 buying guide Wired; Hall Effect sticks and triggers, two remappable rear buttons, a 3.5mm audio jack, and GameSir Nexus support. Accept the cable and confirm the current listing and seller. Source: Windows Central.
Sony DualSense price benchmark Around $60, as described by TechRadar in its 2026 US comparison Benchmark only; this article does not compare its PC features against either wired pick. TechRadar also gave comparison figures of around £50 and AU$90; those are its snapshots, not live prices. Source: TechRadar.

8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wired: the budget choice

GamepadSquire’s 2026 roundup lists the Ultimate 2C Wired at $19.99, making it the least expensive option in this comparison. That price applies to the wired version in that source; do not assume it applies to the wireless model or that the wireless model shares the wired version’s specifications.

  • 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)

  • Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
  • Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.

There is also an 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless. Product documentation hosted by Manuals.plus describes that model as compatible with Windows PC and Android, with Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, remappable L4/R4 bumpers, and 1000Hz polling over both wired and 2.4GHz connections. Those are specifications for the wireless model as documented—not an independent performance test, and not a basis for attributing those features to the Ultimate 2C Wired. Check the exact model name and connection in the retailer listing. Read the hosted product documentation.

GameSir G7 SE: more controls, still wired

Windows Central describes the GameSir G7 SE as a wired Xbox and PC controller and reports a $44.99 Amazon price in its 2026 buying guide. Its listed features include Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, two remappable rear buttons with lock switches, audio controls on the D-pad, a 3.5mm audio jack and GameSir Nexus app support.

The deciding trade-off is the cable: the G7 SE is not a wireless alternative. Its extra controls may suit players who want rear-button remapping or a headset connection on the controller, but those features do not make it a better fit for everyone. Windows Central reviewer Zachary Boddy wrote, “If this controller was wireless, we might be recommending it above Microsoft’s own option.” That is the reviewer’s opinion, not a manufacturer claim. See Windows Central’s G7 SE coverage.

Check connection and game support before you buy

A controller can connect to a PC and still not work equally well in every game. Tom’s Guide recommends considering wired versus wireless play, available connection modes, comfort, battery life, software, price and whether the game supports controllers. Steam’s controller configuration can help configure supported input, but it cannot add native controller support to a game that lacks it. Tom’s Guide’s PC controller guide discusses these buying factors.

GameSir G7 Pro Wired Controller for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Wireless Gamepad for PC&Android with TMR Sticks, Hall Effect Analog Triggers, 1000Hz Polling Rate, 3.5mm Audio Jack - Black
  • Tri-mode Connectivity: Wired for Xbox, 2.4G & Wired for PC, and Bluetooth for Android. The G7 Pro supports seamless connectivity across Xbox, PC, and Android. Effortlessly switch between modes using the convenient physical mode switch.
  • TMR Sticks: The G7 Pro features GameSir's Mag-Res TMR sticks, combining Hall Effect durability with traditional potentiometer performance. This advanced technology delivers stable polling rates for smooth, drift-free gaming with low power consumption.
  • Hall Effect Analog Triggers: The GameSir precision-tuned Hall Effect analog triggers provide unmatched smoothness and linear input for precise control. Featuring clicky Micro Switch trigger stops, gamers can easily switch based on their preferences.
  • 1000Hz Polling Rate on PC: Experience ultra-responsive gaming with a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, available through both wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This ensures instantaneous input registration, reducing lag and optimizing your performance for the most competitive gameplay.
  • GameSir Nexus App: The G7 Pro is compatible with the upgraded GameSir Nexus app, which brings a significant upgrade over the original. It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
  • Connection: Decide whether a cable is acceptable. The G7 SE and the lower-priced Ultimate 2C in the cited price listing are wired; the separate Ultimate 2C Wireless is a distinct option.
  • Button layout: Consider whether you prefer familiar Xbox-style or PlayStation-style button placement. The available product information here does not establish that either model is the ideal layout for every player.
  • Game compatibility: Check the game’s store page or documentation for controller support, especially if you rely on a particular layout or feature.
  • Software and remapping: The G7 SE supports GameSir Nexus and has two remappable rear buttons. The wireless Ultimate 2C documentation specifies remappable L4/R4 bumpers; that feature should not be transferred to the wired variant without confirming its documentation.
  • Battery needs: Wired play avoids relying on a controller battery during use. If choosing a wireless model, check its battery details and whether you can play while charging; the cited wireless documentation does not establish battery-life figures.

What Hall Effect sticks do—and do not—settle

Hall Effect sticks and triggers are listed for the GameSir G7 SE, and Hall Effect joysticks and triggers are specified for the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless. Tom’s Guide says Hall Effect or TMR sticks are worth considering if you are concerned about stick drift. That technology can be one factor in a purchase, but it does not establish that a controller is immune to drift or guarantee a particular lifespan. Shape, button feel, connection, battery needs, software and price still matter.

Price-check the exact model

  1. Identify the connection you want: wired or wireless. Do not compare the Ultimate 2C Wired price with wireless-model features.
  2. Check the current US retailer listing for the full model name, seller, availability and price. The cited figures are 2026 snapshots, not live checkout verification.
  3. Confirm that your games support controllers and that the connection and button layout suit your setup.
  4. Compare the final price with the DualSense listing you would actually buy. TechRadar’s around-$60 US figure is a comparison snapshot rather than a promise of today’s price.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
