Which Galaxy devices are confirmed for One UI 9?
Samsung Electronics said on September 16, 2026 that One UI 9 was expanding to more Galaxy devices, starting with the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. The company described the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 as the devices on which One UI 9 had debuted. The announcement does not give a complete list of other eligible devices or an October-by-October rollout sequence. Samsung Global Newsroom’s announcement is the source for those named devices.

Samsung Australia used different regional wording, saying expansion to the Galaxy S26 family would begin “from the end of September.” That does not establish a single worldwide start date: rollout timing and wording can vary by market. Samsung Australia’s announcement describes its regional timing.

For Galaxy models not named in the announcements, Samsung’s cited material does not establish an October 2026 date. Check the phone directly rather than relying on an inferred schedule:

- Tap Software update.
- Tap Download and install.
You can also check Samsung’s support information for your country and exact model. Samsung’s One UI 8 schedule—not a One UI 9 eligibility list—says schedules and eligible models can change during review, updates may pause for emergency fixes, and timing or functions may differ by model, country, or network operator. Treat that as general guidance about rollout variability, not confirmation that your device will receive One UI 9. Samsung’s One UI 8 schedule sets out those caveats.
Is the October Samsung update One UI 9 or a security patch?
They are separate update tracks. One UI 9 is a feature and interface rollout; Samsung’s October 2026 security maintenance release (SMR Oct-2026 Release 1) covers security patches. Samsung says that release includes its and Google’s patches and lists 27 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures. That figure is the bulletin’s listed Samsung vulnerability count, not a count of all Android vulnerabilities or evidence that every device receives the package on the same date. Does Samsung’s upgrade policy confirm my phone is eligible?
No. Samsung’s 2022 policy announcement promised up to four generations of One UI upgrades and up to five years of security updates for specified eligible device groups. It is historical policy context, not a current One UI 9 eligibility list or a promise that a particular model is receiving this version now. Samsung also said availability and timing may vary by model and Android OS upgrade timing. Check the support information for your exact device.
