It supports VR through SteamVR, OpenXR, and Oculus PC, according to the Steam listing. That is an optional way to play, not a requirement. The same page says the game supports HOTAS peripherals and DirectInput devices. The vendor’s exact description is: “Combine this with full compatibility with HOTAS peripherals and custom axis curves, and you will be able to experience the game however you want, using any DirectInput supported peripheral you like.” This is the store’s compatibility statement, not an independent test of every device.
ACE COMBAT ZERO and the ACE COMBAT 8 offer
Bandai Namco’s announcement and store pages connect a PC Steam version of ACE COMBAT ZERO to ACE COMBAT 8’s digital pre-order offer. Since the announced worldwide release date, October 2, 2026, has passed, the old pre-order terms should not be treated as a current route to obtaining Zero. Confirm the live edition details and whether the bonus remains available on the Bandai Namco PC store page before buying.

What to check before choosing
- Campaign and setting: Choose Project Wingman for a separate alternate-history world, ACE COMBAT 7 for another game in the series, or ACE COMBAT 8 for the newer mainline entry.
- Extra modes: Project Wingman lists Conquest alongside its campaign.
- Controls: If you plan to use a flight stick, verify that the device supports DirectInput and check current compatibility information for that exact model. HOTAS support does not establish that every stick works equally well.
