Best parkour games to play after Vasya Run

Start with Mirror’s Edge. It is the closest movement-first follow-up to Vasya Run if you want momentum, route reading and clean traversal without a large layer of extra systems. Pick Ghostrunner when you want parkour bound tightly to lethal sword combat and repeated precision retries. Choose Dying Light 2 Stay Human for an open world where movement supports survival-action play. Keep Vholume on a watch list until its current release status is confirmed.

The short list

The right successor depends on what you mean by “parkour.” Some games make running, jumping and choosing a line the main activity; others use parkour to move you between fights or across a large map. The four games below cover those different interpretations rather than pretending they offer the same experience.

Game Movement versus combat World and level structure Challenge and retries Movement feel Play format
Mirror’s Edge (2008) Movement is the headline; combat is present but secondary to keeping momentum. Authored city routes, exploration and time trials rather than a conventional open world. Readable lines and repeatable time-trial attempts; forgiving when you learn the route, less forgiving when you lose flow. Grounded, flowing and momentum-led. Built around a solo campaign and individual time-trial performance.
Ghostrunner (2020) Parkour and lethal first-person sword combat are inseparable. Designed, demanding stages with combat arenas and traversal sequences. High difficulty, instant-style repetition and a precision-first retry loop. Arcade precision in a cyberpunk setting. Single-player.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human Parkour supports survival-action combat, exploration and progression. A larger open world where traversal is part of ordinary travel, missions and discovery. More tolerance for experimentation than a pure time trial, with danger coming from encounters and the environment. Accessible, expressive traversal inside a broader action game. Solo play is central; the game also supports cooperative play.
Vholume (announced for August 21 in a 2026 PC Gamer report) Positioned as a parkour adventure rather than a combat-led game. Real-time races and ghost competition suggest authored runs and performance comparison. Its final difficulty, retry rules and launch content still need confirmation. Advertised as a “melancholic first-person parkour adventure.” Its race and ghost features point to competitive comparison, but final modes and availability should be checked.

For the most direct answer, play Mirror’s Edge first. It preserves the sensation that a good route is a solution: you read the environment, commit to a line and keep speed through the next obstacle. The recommendation changes to Ghostrunner if combat and failure are part of the appeal, or to Dying Light 2 Stay Human if you want parkour to matter across a much larger map.

Mirror’s Edge: the closest movement-first follow-up

Why it matches the appeal of Vasya Run

Mirror’s Edge makes navigation feel like a continuous physical problem instead of a series of disconnected jumps. You scan rooftops, walls, rails and gaps for a viable line, then protect your speed while the route unfolds. That emphasis is why it remains the safest recommendation for someone searching for “games like Vasya Run” rather than simply “games with a jump button.”

Electronic Arts describes the premise as: “Fight oppression and claim your freedom as you run, maneuver, and battle through the futuristic city of Glass.” The important phrase for a parkour fan is “run, maneuver”: the game asks you to move through space with intent. Combat exists, but the design’s identity comes from getting through the city efficiently and maintaining flow.

How its structure changes the experience

This is not an open-world checklist game. Its main routes are authored, so the developer can place a specific sequence of walls, ledges and drops in front of you. That produces a useful rhythm: first learn what the environment permits, then refine your line. The Steam description highlights parkour, exploration and time trials, giving you both a campaign-style progression and repeatable performance challenges.

Time trials are particularly valuable after a game built around quick movement. A first attempt teaches geometry and timing; later attempts remove hesitation. You can treat a missed jump as information about the route rather than as a reason to grind character statistics. That makes the game a good fit if your satisfaction comes from cleaner execution, not from unlocking a stronger avatar.

Evidence of lasting player approval

At the time of the cited Steam search, Mirror’s Edge had 86% positive English reviews from 15,240 reviews. That figure is a snapshot, not a permanent score, and the total can change as new reviews are posted. It does, however, indicate a substantial body of favorable player response rather than a recommendation based only on nostalgia.

Who should choose it

  • Choose it when movement should remain the main event from one encounter to the next.
  • Choose it when you prefer learning a route and replaying it to chasing open-world upgrades.
  • Choose it when a grounded sense of momentum is more appealing than supernatural abilities or elaborate combat systems.

What to expect before you start

The same focus can feel restrictive if you want a huge map, extensive character progression or constant fighting. The game rewards attention to the intended line; it is not trying to be a sandbox in which every surface is equally useful. Approach it as a movement game with authored challenges and you will understand its priorities quickly.

Ghostrunner: parkour for players who welcome lethal combat

Movement and combat are one test

Ghostrunner takes first-person traversal and couples it to a cyberpunk sword-fighting loop. Its Steam listing presents a single-player game with demanding traversal and combat. You are not simply crossing a room and then entering a separate combat screen: positioning, timing and route choice determine whether you can reach an enemy and survive the exchange.

That coupling changes what “smooth movement” means. In Mirror’s Edge, preserving flow is often the reward. In Ghostrunner, flow is also a survival requirement. A missed wall run, mistimed dodge or bad approach can end the attempt, so every retry teaches both the route and the threat pattern.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The retry loop

This is the difficult option in the list. Player descriptions consistently frame it as a demanding, precision-oriented experience, and the game’s appeal depends on accepting frequent failure as part of learning. The stages are built for deliberate repetition: identify the safe sequence, execute it under pressure, then adjust when the next enemy or traversal gap exposes a weakness.

If you usually quit when a game asks for exact timing, Ghostrunner may feel harsher than the other recommendations. If you enjoy reducing a complicated sequence to a practiced run, its retry structure can be more compelling than a relaxed open-world route.

Its place on the movement-versus-combat spectrum

Ghostrunner is not a replacement for a pure time-trial game. Combat is too important to treat as an interruption, and the cyberpunk setting supports a faster, more aggressive interpretation of parkour. The movement is precise and arcade-like rather than a simulation of everyday freerunning. That makes it a strong choice for readers who searched for “hard parkour games with combat,” not necessarily for readers who want quiet exploration.

Who should choose it

  • Choose it when a successful run should include both a traversal solution and a combat solution.
  • Choose it when you enjoy restarting a short sequence immediately instead of traveling back across a large map.
  • Choose it when heightened, cyberpunk action and exact inputs appeal more than realistic pacing.

Who should skip it

Skip it for now if your favorite part of Vasya Run is uninterrupted movement with minimal threat. The sword-fighting loop is not optional flavor; it defines the pressure on every route. A movement purist will probably get a cleaner continuation from Mirror’s Edge.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human: open-world parkour with survival-action around it

Why it is the open-world choice

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is the branch to take when you want parkour to operate across a larger playable space. A 2024 PCGamesN parkour guide lists it alongside Mirror’s Edge and Ghostrunner, placing it in the same conversation while recognizing a different structure. Here, traversal is embedded in exploration, missions and survival-action play rather than isolated into only authored runs or time trials.

That scale changes your decisions. You may choose a route because it is fast, because it avoids a threat, because it reaches a mission objective or because it reveals another part of the city. The movement system has value even when you are not practicing a perfect line: it is how you move through the world.

Movement priority versus broader systems

Parkour remains important, but it shares attention with survival-action mechanics. Encounters, objectives and progression can interrupt a clean traversal sequence. The trade-off is variety. A player who wants every minute to be a movement exercise may find the surrounding systems distracting; a player who wants a world in which parkour is useful throughout a longer adventure will find the interruptions worthwhile.

Difficulty and experimentation

Compared with Ghostrunner, the open-world format generally gives you more room to experiment. A failed leap does not necessarily erase a carefully learned stage, because the larger game is about reaching places and surviving situations as well as executing a flawless run. The danger comes from the environment and action encounters, not only from a single frame-perfect input.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

That makes it the most accommodating recommendation for someone who wants to practice movement while still having a conventional action-adventure structure. It is also the least focused option if your sole goal is leaderboard-style route optimization.

Solo and cooperative considerations

Solo play is central to the experience, and the game also supports cooperative play. That matters if you want parkour to be something you share rather than a purely individual time trial. Cooperative sessions can change the pacing and priorities, so approach them as a separate way to experience the world rather than as a substitute for practicing a personal best route.

Who should choose it

  • Choose it when “open-world games with parkour” describes your ideal more accurately than “parkour simulator.”
  • Choose it when you want movement to help with exploration, objectives and survival rather than exist in isolated challenges.
  • Choose it when cooperative play is valuable alongside solo progression.

Vholume: a watch-list option, not a confirmed recommendation yet

What has been announced

PC Gamer described Vholume in 2026 as “A self-billed ‘melancholic first-person parkour adventure.’” The same report mentioned real-time races, ghost competition and an announced August 21 release date. Those details make it especially relevant to readers who want authored runs and a way to compare their line with another player’s performance.

Why availability needs checking

The report’s date and the game’s final launch status are time-sensitive. Before buying, check the current storefront listing, supported platform, exact release year and whether the announced race and ghost features are present in the released build. Until those points are confirmed, Vholume belongs beside your watch list rather than ahead of available games you can start now.

  • Watch it if ghost comparison and real-time racing are more appealing than combat.
  • Wait for confirmed release information if you need a game you can purchase and play immediately.

Choose by the kind of parkour you want

If movement must stay in first place

Pick Mirror’s Edge. Its authored routes, exploration and time trials keep attention on reading the environment and carrying momentum. It is the clearest answer when the phrase “after Vasya Run” means “give me another game where movement itself is the puzzle.”

If you want movement under combat pressure

Pick Ghostrunner. Its single-player design makes every traversal decision part of a lethal encounter, and its difficulty rewards immediate retries and precise execution. Expect a sharper learning curve than in the other confirmed recommendations.

If you want to roam rather than repeat a stage

Pick Dying Light 2 Stay Human. Its parkour has a job to do across a broader world, where reaching a destination and surviving the trip can matter more than setting the fastest possible time.

If you want races and ghost data

Keep Vholume in view, but verify its current availability first. The announced concept is a closer fit for competitive run comparison than for a combat-heavy action game.

A practical way to move from a simple runner to these games

Start by identifying your failure

When a route goes wrong, decide whether the problem is line choice, timing, camera control or a threat you failed to read. In Mirror’s Edge, that diagnosis helps you refine a route. In Ghostrunner, it tells you whether to rehearse traversal or the combat sequence attached to it. In Dying Light 2 Stay Human, it may show that a safer detour is better than a risky shortcut.

Practice one segment at a time

Do not treat a long run as one indivisible performance. Learn the opening approach, the first major gap and the recovery after it, then connect those pieces. Short, repeatable goals make the retry-heavy design of Ghostrunner useful instead of exhausting, and they make the time trials in Mirror’s Edge easier to analyze.

Decide whether speed or safety is your objective

A fastest route is not always the best first route. Build a reliable line before trimming hesitation. This is especially important in the open-world structure of Dying Light 2 Stay Human, where avoiding an encounter or choosing a safer path can be a sensible success condition even when it is not the quickest one.

Use the game’s intended mode

For Mirror’s Edge, move from exploration into time trials when you want measurable improvement. For Ghostrunner, embrace the single-player retry loop rather than expecting a relaxed sightseeing game. For Dying Light 2 Stay Human, let traversal serve the wider adventure, and use cooperative play when shared exploration is the goal. For Vholume, wait until the released feature set is documented before planning around races or ghosts.
