If you prefer a smaller footprint, consider the Logitech Pebble Keys 2 K380s; if price matters more than lighting and a more refined typing feel, compare the Keychron B6 Pro. The right choice depends on more than whether a keyboard works with macOS: check how many devices it can keep paired, how switching works, which layout you are buying, and whether you want a compact, low-profile or mechanical-style board.
Best multi-device keyboards for Mac at a glance
| Keyboard | Best for | Documented switching and connection | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logitech MX Keys S for Mac | Full-size, backlit office use with Mac-specific legends | Logitech says it pairs with multiple Mac computers and iPads over Bluetooth Low Energy and switches at the press of a button. Logitech product page | Do not assume the Mac-specific model includes a receiver; RTINGS distinguishes it from the standard MX Keys S. |
| Logitech Pebble Keys 2 K380s | Portable, compact setups | RTINGS describes pairing with up to three devices and button-based switching. RTINGS Mac keyboard guide | Its compact layout may feel cramped, and the circular keycaps are an acquired preference. |
| Keychron B6 Pro | Budget-minded buyers seeking a low-profile wireless board | RTINGS reports Bluetooth multi-device pairing. Keychron lists broad OS compatibility, but its compatibility page does not establish this model’s exact pairing count. Keychron compatibility information | No backlighting; RTINGS reports less premium build and typing feel than the MX Keys S. |
| Apple Magic Keyboard | Apple-native features, including Touch ID on select models | Apple’s accessory catalog lists models for Mac, including Touch ID variants for Macs with Apple silicon; the listing does not establish multi-device switching. Apple Mac keyboards | Choose it for Apple-specific integration rather than assuming it is a multi-host switcher. |
Comparative assessments of the Logitech and Keychron models above are from RTINGS’ guide, updated August 25, 2026; the manufacturer feature statements are attributed to their respective product pages. No keyboard is a universal performance winner across different layouts and typing preferences.

Why the MX Keys S for Mac is the best all-round office pick
Logitech specifies a Mac-specific layout, concave key shapes, smart illumination and programmable keys. It says the keyboard can pair with multiple Mac computers and iPads over Bluetooth Low Energy and switch devices at the push of a button. That is a manufacturer feature claim, not an independent switching-speed test.
The dedicated Mac legends make this version easier to distinguish from the standard MX Keys S. RTINGS notes that the regular model has dual Windows/Mac modifier legends and includes a Logi Bolt USB receiver, while the Mac-specific version differs in legends. Verify the exact regional SKU and box contents if a receiver matters; do not infer its inclusion from information about the standard model.

Macworld also discusses this keyboard’s Mac layout, backlighting and device switching, and notes that it lacks the Touch ID key found on select Apple Magic Keyboard models. Treat Touch ID as a separate feature priority, not as a measure of multi-device switching.
Choose the compact Pebble Keys 2 K380s for portability
RTINGS describes the K380s as a compact Bluetooth keyboard that can pair with up to three devices and switch with a button. Its smaller footprint is useful when desk space or portability matters more than a full-size layout. The trade-off is a more cramped arrangement and circular keycaps, which may not suit every typist.

Logitech’s support page describes Easy-Switch on the distinct K380 for Mac, saying it can connect with up to three Apple devices and switch among them. That support documentation is for the K380 for Mac; use it for that model rather than treating it as proof of every K380s specification.

RTINGS reports up to 1,200 hours of battery life, or about eight months at five hours of daily use. This is a reviewer-reported estimate, not a guaranteed runtime for every user or setup. Check the exact model and regional listing before purchase.
Keychron says its keyboards are compatible with macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, and describes a side OS-mode toggle for switching between Mac and Windows modes. That broad compatibility statement does not by itself confirm the B6 Pro’s device-pairing count.

When an Apple Magic Keyboard makes more sense
Apple’s Mac accessory catalog lists multiple Magic Keyboard models, including versions with Touch ID for Mac computers with Apple silicon. That is relevant if Touch ID or Apple’s own accessory ecosystem is more important to you than a documented multi-device switching feature. The catalog listing is not evidence that these models switch among multiple hosts in the same way as the Logitech options above.

How to choose a Mac keyboard that switches devices well
Confirm the switching method and device count
Look for an explicit pairing capacity and a clear switching action, such as a dedicated Easy-Switch key. “Works with Mac” only establishes compatibility; it does not mean a keyboard can retain multiple pairings or move between computers and an iPad without reconnecting.

Check the exact Mac layout and version
Inspect the Command and Option legends and confirm whether the product is a Mac-specific version or a dual-labeled model. Also check whether the keyboard has an OS-mode toggle if you expect to use it with Windows devices. Layouts and included accessories can differ by SKU and region.
Match footprint and typing feel to your work
A full-size keyboard offers a more spacious layout, while a compact board saves room and travels more easily but can feel cramped or omit familiar spacing. These picks are low-profile options; if you specifically want mechanical switches, compare that category separately rather than assuming a low-profile office board will deliver the same feel.
Separate Bluetooth from receiver support
Bluetooth is documented for the multi-device functions described here. A USB receiver is a separate connection option: verify its inclusion and connector type for the precise model and box before relying on one, especially when comparing the standard MX Keys S with the Mac-specific version.
Balance lighting, power and Apple-specific features
Backlighting is a meaningful differentiator: Logitech specifies smart illumination on the MX Keys S for Mac, while RTINGS notes that the B6 Pro lacks backlighting. Battery-runtime figures are estimates tied to stated conditions, not universal promises. If Touch ID is essential, check Apple’s compatibility qualification for the particular Magic Keyboard and Mac rather than expecting the feature from a third-party keyboard.
Bottom line
For a full-size, backlit Mac keyboard with a documented button-based switch among Apple devices, start with the Logitech MX Keys S for Mac. Pick the Pebble Keys 2 K380s when compactness takes priority, or the Keychron B6 Pro when a lower price matters more than backlighting and a more premium feel. Choose an Apple Magic Keyboard for features such as Touch ID on supported Apple silicon Macs, not on an unverified assumption that it provides the same multi-device switching.
