If The Blood of Dawnwalker stutters on PC, first check the symptom and your game version. Rebel Wolves’ September 9, 2026 Hotfix 1.0.2 specifically acknowledged stuttering in Windowed or Borderless mode and suggested trying Full Screen. Start by identifying when the game stutters or freezes
“Stuttering,” “traversal freezes,” and “game freezing” can describe different problems. Note whether the issue is a brief hitch while moving through the world, occurs only in Windowed or Borderless mode, or is a crash during shader compilation. Also check which game build is installed: patch notes may change what is known or addressed.

Try Full Screen for Windowed or Borderless stuttering
- Open the game’s display or graphics settings and change the display mode from Windowed or Borderless to Full Screen.
- Apply the change and test the same activity or area where the stutter usually occurs.
- If the issue persists, record the display mode, game build, and when the stutter happens. The developer’s note presents Full Screen as a workaround for the named display-mode issue, not a guaranteed fix for every hitch or traversal freeze.
What Hotfix 1.0.5 changes—and what it does not establish
A report reproducing the developer’s Hotfix 1.0.5 announcement says the patch improves the shader-compilation pipeline and may fix stuttering for some users. That is a limited, reported improvement—not confirmation that the patch eliminates traversal freezes or resolves every kind of stutter. The official Steam announcement text was not available in the retrieved page, so this scope should be read as reported wording rather than a broader verified promise. If you are still on an earlier build, install the current update available to you, then test again. Patch availability and game behavior can change; a patch’s shader-compilation improvement should not be treated as proof that a movement-related freeze has the same cause.
If the game crashes during shader compilation
For a crash specifically during shader compilation, Rebel Wolves’ Hotfix 1.0.2 note advises checking whether the system BIOS is up to date. This is not a general remedy for gameplay stuttering or traversal hitches.

BIOS updates are motherboard-specific. Identify your motherboard model, follow its manufacturer’s official instructions, and do not interrupt a firmware update. If you are unsure how to do this safely, seek help from the manufacturer or a qualified technician rather than applying a generic BIOS file or procedure.

Bandai Namco lists the following PC requirements for the game. They indicate the stated compatibility targets, not a guarantee of smooth traversal for every system that meets them.

These are the publisher’s listed requirements, not performance-test results. An SSD is required for the listed installation, but the requirements do not show that upgrading to an SSD cures stuttering or traversal freezes. Check the official Bandai Namco game page for the published specifications.

What to report if traversal freezes continue
If the problem remains after the relevant, documented test, capture details that distinguish it from other issues: game build, display mode, whether it is a brief hitch or a full crash, whether it happens during shader compilation or ordinary movement, and the point at which it occurs. The available patch notes do not establish that every traversal freeze shares one technical cause, so avoid treating a workaround for one symptom as a fix for another.
