For guest-led shows and broadcasts, compare StreamYard and Riverside; for an event built around Zoom, Zoom Events or Zoom Webinars Plus may fit if your account and configuration support the needed workflow. Choose according to how guests join, how much production control you need, what the audience must do, where the stream goes, and whether you need recordings for reuse.
How to choose live streaming software for a remote team
Start with the event format rather than a feature checklist. A panel discussion with speakers joining from home has different needs from an employee town hall with registration, Q&A, and a large audience. These are the questions to settle before comparing services:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Guest access: Can speakers join easily from their devices, and what setup must they complete?
- Production control: Do you need branded layouts, scene changes, screen sharing, and media playback? Who will operate them?
- Audience workflow: Is the event internal or public? Do you need registration, attendee access controls, chat, or Q&A?
- Distribution: Which destinations must receive the stream? Does the platform distribute to them, or will you need an encoder and a separate destination?
- Recording and reuse: Will you need a recording, separate tracks, editing, or clips after the event? Confirm what the current plan actually includes.
- Organizational fit: Check required workplace accounts, integrations, IT policies, and product or plan eligibility.
The options below are a feature-based shortlist based on vendor product pages and support documentation, not hands-on testing or a like-for-like performance benchmark. Current prices and full plan limits are not established here; verify them with each vendor before choosing.
Shortlist: software for remote-team live events
| Option | Best fit | What the available product information describes | Check before committing |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamYard | Guest-led broadcasts and teams seeking a browser-oriented production workflow | Its product materials describe a browser-based live streaming and recording studio, remote guests, multistreaming, local recordings, and its On-Air webinar platform. | Current plan limits and supported destinations. These are vendor descriptions, not independently tested findings. |
| Riverside | Webinars where recording and post-event reuse matter | Its webinar materials describe remote guest speakers, multistreaming, and recording workflows. Its platform guide discusses registration, engagement, and recording for reuse. | Current plan limits and recording or reuse features. Its comparison guide is vendor-authored. |
| Zoom Events / Zoom Webinars Plus | Teams already using Zoom’s event or webinar products | Zoom documents an incoming RTMP livestream workflow for Zoom Events and Zoom Webinars Plus, with tools such as OBS and vMix as examples of third-party production software. | RTMP livestreaming into a Zoom Event is documented for those products; do not assume the same setup works in all Zoom plans or meetings. Confirm product tier and event configuration. |
Which option fits your event?
Choose StreamYard for a browser-oriented guest production
StreamYard is a reasonable candidate when remote speakers and a browser-based studio are central to the production. Its product page also describes multistreaming, local recordings, and On-Air webinars. Confirm the current destination support and plan limits against your team’s needs before scheduling a show.

Choose Riverside when the recording is part of the deliverable

Choose Zoom’s event products for a Zoom-centered workflow
Zoom may suit teams whose event operations already run through its event or webinar products. Zoom’s support documentation says RTMP livestreaming into a Zoom Event is currently supported only on Zoom Events and Zoom Webinars Plus. The documented workflow brings in a stream produced by third-party software; OBS and vMix are examples in Zoom’s instructions. It is not evidence that every Zoom meeting, webinar plan, or account supports the same setup.

- Write down the event shape. Note the number and location of speakers, whether the audience is internal or public, and whether registration, chat, or Q&A is necessary.
- Decide who produces the show. List the layouts, branding, screen sharing, and media handling you need, then make sure someone can operate the workflow.
- Set distribution requirements. Identify every destination and confirm whether the platform can send to it directly or needs an external encoder.
- Define the recording outcome. Decide whether a single replay is enough or the team needs separate tracks or material for editing. Confirm what is included on the eligible plan.
- Run a rehearsal with the actual team. Test guest joining, presenter handoffs, audience access, stream destinations, and recording retrieval using the intended accounts and devices.
- Check operational constraints. Have IT or the account owner verify plan eligibility, account requirements, integrations, and organizational policy before the public event.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the actual requirement is a 24/7 YouTube channel playing uploaded videos, rather than producing a live show with remote speakers, StreamNeo is a different kind of tool: it keeps an uploaded recording or playlist live from the cloud. Upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer can be off; the stream runs from StreamNeo’s cloud and automatically recovers if YouTube drops it. Every slot uses one flat price for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
