There is not enough current product evidence to responsibly name five KYB platforms here. Four vendors have documented capabilities worth taking into a demo: Middesk for U.S.-oriented business onboarding, Trulioo and Sumsub for broader verification workflows, and Alloy for perpetual KYB and risk assessment in the UK and Europe. Those are product-positioning notes, not an independently tested ranking.
The right choice depends on the countries and entity types you serve, how you verify owners and screen risk, how you handle exceptions, and whether you need monitoring after onboarding. Use the comparisons below to build a shortlist, then validate coverage, workflow fit, and costs with your own cases.

What KYB software does—and what it does not guarantee
Know Your Business (KYB) is due diligence intended to establish a company’s structure, ownership, purpose, and activities. In practice, KYB software can gather and check business identity and formation information, identify or verify owners and related people, screen for risk, and record decisions for review or monitoring. Sumsub’s documentation describes this scope; the legal duties that apply depend on the regulated organization, jurisdiction, and relevant rules.

Which KYB platforms are worth evaluating?
This is a capability-based shortlist, not a scored ranking. The descriptions below rely on vendor product pages and a dated vendor announcement; those materials describe what providers say they offer, not independent verification of accuracy or performance.
| Provider | Documented positioning | Geographic signal | Monitoring described |
|---|---|---|---|
| Middesk | Business identity, ownership confirmation, and risk screening, including document checks. | U.S.-oriented: the cited product description emphasizes federal and state data and entity details across all 50 states. | Not stated in the cited product description (Middesk product page). |
| Trulioo | Business and owner checks, configurable routing, reporting, and registry and third-party data access. | Global positioning; country- and entity-specific coverage needs validation. | Ongoing monitoring is described (Trulioo product page). |
| Sumsub | Registry and ownership checks, owner verification, document review, questionnaires, and AML screening. | Access to commercial records is described, but the cited page does not establish coverage for a particular buyer’s countries or entity types. | Periodic rechecks are described (Sumsub product page). |
| Alloy | Perpetual KYB and Customer Risk Assessment orchestration. | Announced for banks, fintechs, and payments companies in the UK and Europe; verify current scope with Alloy. | Event-driven reassessment is described in Alloy’s January 21, 2026 announcement. |
Middesk: consider it for U.S.-focused onboarding
Middesk presents its product as business identity verification, ownership confirmation, and risk screening from application through decision. Its product description says it prioritizes IRS and Secretary of State data and lists entity details across all 50 states, beneficial-owner and KYC checks, OFAC and other screening, web presence, industry classification, and document checks that include IRS EIN validation. These capabilities make it a candidate to evaluate for a U.S.-oriented workflow; confirm that its available evidence covers your entity types and decision rules.
Middesk reports that 70% of verifications resolve without analyst intervention. That is a vendor-reported figure on its product page, not an independently established or directly comparable performance benchmark.

Trulioo: examine its global workflow against your actual markets
Trulioo describes a business verification service combining registry and other data, company and owner checks, configurable workflow routing, audit-ready reporting, and ongoing monitoring. Its product page claims access to more than 700 million entities and support for more than 500 business registration number formats. These are Trulioo’s claims, not independently verified measures of coverage or match quality. Ask the vendor to show how its sources perform for your target countries, registration systems, and ownership cases.
Sumsub: assess the breadth of its verification workflow
Sumsub describes registry checks, corporate-structure and beneficial-ownership checks, owner verification, questionnaires, document reading and review, AML screening, and periodic rechecks. Its product page reports access to 600M+ commercial records and an average automatic business check of 15 seconds. Both figures are vendor-published claims, not independent measurements; ask how the definitions and results apply to your case mix.
Sumsub’s documentation frames KYB as due diligence into a company’s structure, ownership, purpose, and activities, with screening and identity checks for legal entities and beneficiaries. That framing can help buyers check whether a proposed workflow covers more than a company-name lookup.
Rank #3
Alloy: verify the scope of its UK and European launch
In a January 21, 2026 announcement, Alloy said it launched a perpetual KYB and Customer Risk Assessment orchestration solution in the UK and Europe for banks, fintechs, and payments companies. The announcement describes rerunning checks and reassessing risk when meaningful events occur, including registry updates or watchlist hits, as well as AI-assisted research and enhanced due diligence. Treat this as a dated announcement: confirm current availability, eligible markets, and the exact workflow in a demo.
Alloy also said it serves more than 700 financial institutions and fintechs globally. That is a company-reported customer figure, not an independently audited count.
Why this is a four-platform shortlist, not a top-five ranking
The available product detail supports profiles for four providers, but not a responsible fifth pick. Middesk’s buyer guide names Ondato and iDenfy alongside Middesk and Trulioo, but a name in a vendor-authored guide is not enough to establish a current product fit. Adding either as a ranked choice without comparable product evidence would imply more certainty than the available information supports.

How to choose a KYB platform
Start with the workflow you need to operate, then ask each vendor to demonstrate it using representative cases. A global coverage claim or a high automation figure is not a substitute for seeing how the system handles your countries, records, ownership structures, and exceptions.
1. Match coverage to your customers
List the countries, entity types, and registration sources that matter to your business. Ask which data sources and documents are available for each, how the platform handles incomplete or conflicting records, and what evidence appears in the result. Validate complex ownership cases rather than relying on a general “global” label.

Check whether the workflow addresses the full scope you require: business identity and status, formation information or documents, ownership and control, checks on owners or principals, risk screening, and an auditable decision record. Ask which parts are automated, which require analyst review, and how users can resolve exceptions.

3. Decide whether you need post-onboarding monitoring
Business details, ownership, registry status, and risk signals can change after onboarding. Establish whether periodic rechecks are sufficient for your use case or whether you need event-driven reassessment, and ask what events trigger a review, what the team receives, and how the resulting decision is recorded. Sumsub describes periodic rechecks; Alloy’s January 2026 announcement describes event-driven reassessment for its UK and European solution.
4. Test automation on your own cases
Ask for a demonstration using cases that resemble your expected mix, including routine applications and difficult records. Measure manual-review rates, false positives, evidence quality, and escalation handling using definitions your team agrees on. Treat vendor-reported automation or speed figures as claims to validate, not as a like-for-like comparison between providers.
5. Compare workflow and integration fit
Review how the platform can be configured, how it connects to your onboarding process through an API or hosted experience, and how decisions and supporting evidence reach the people who need them. Include audit trails and exception queues in the demonstration, not just the successful automated path.

6. Compare total cost on the same scope
The cited sources do not establish comparable prices or implementation costs. Request quotes using the same countries, checks, monitoring frequency, expected volume, manual-review support, and integration scope. Also ask what is included in the proposed service and which parts change the price.
Quick Recap
What to ask in a vendor demo
- Which registries and other sources cover each country and entity type in our launch scope?
- Can you show how the platform verifies ownership and handles layered or incomplete company records?
- What screening is available for companies and associated people, and how are matches reviewed?
- Which checks run automatically, what sends a case to manual review, and how are exceptions resolved?
- What evidence and decision history can our team retain for audit and future review?
- How do periodic or event-driven checks work, and what changes trigger reassessment?
- What are the price and implementation assumptions for our volumes, check bundle, markets, and integration requirements?
