It also supports borderless photo printing up to 8.5×11 inches. Those features make it worth considering for document-heavy home use with occasional photos, but the listed specifications do not establish photo quality equivalent to a six-colour photo-oriented model. Canon PIXMA TR4527: cartridge all-in-one
The cartridge-based TR4527 is a lower-initial-cost option to compare if you print infrequently. How to compare the costs for your own use
Refillable tanks commonly cost more to buy and less to replenish than cartridge printers. That pattern alone cannot tell you which will cost less overall: your local purchase price, included ink, replacement ink price, printing frequency, photo size, and maintenance all matter. - Compare the actual price of the exact printer model or regional SKU you can buy.
- Check what ink is included and the local cost of compatible replacement ink for that exact model.
- Estimate how many documents and photos you will print, including the photo sizes you actually use.
- Consider the cost of media and the possibility that your printing pattern may not match a manufacturer’s maximum-yield estimate.

Check the workflow and paper support before choosing
For documents: distinguish an ADF from duplex printing
An ADF feeds multiple pages for scanning or copying without requiring you to place each sheet individually. Automatic duplex printing prints on both sides of a sheet without manually turning it over. For photos and craft media: check size, trays, and borderless support
“Borderless” means printing to the edges of the supported print surface; it does not mean every paper size or media type can print borderlessly. Confirm support for the exact size and paper you plan to use. If you print larger photos or specialty media, tray configuration, rear feeds, supported thickness, and the printer’s footprint can be as important as the headline maximum size. Canon’s guide also recommends considering paper sizes, trays, scanner features, and memory-card support.
- Photo quality: Check the ink set, especially whether the model has extra photo-oriented colours. If you mainly print black-and-white photos, confirm that its ink configuration suits that use.
- Maximum size: Distinguish A4 or Letter borderless capability from A3+ support, and verify the size/media combination.
