1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe best Google Keep alternative depends on what you need beyond quick notes. Choose Notion for structured notes and shared workspaces, Obsidian for linked notes stored locally, Microsoft OneNote for notebook-style pages and handwriting, or Todoist when managing tasks matters more than building a note archive. Before moving, check that an app works on your devices and supports the sync and export options you need.
Which Google Keep alternative fits your workflow?
| Your priority | App to evaluate | Why it may fit | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Structured notes, databases, or a shared workspace | Notion | It offers a broader workspace approach than quick-note cards. | Review the current plan limits and confirm they fit your needs. Notion’s plan page lists current options. |
| Linked notes and a local-first knowledge base | Obsidian | Its linked-note approach can help organize ideas that connect to one another. | Local storage and syncing are separate considerations; review Obsidian’s pricing page for its Sync offering. |
| Notebook pages, handwriting, or drawings | Microsoft OneNote | Microsoft documents handwriting and drawing with a stylus or finger. | Try it on the devices you use and verify current sync behavior. See Microsoft’s OneNote page. |
| Task lists and task management | Todoist | It is designed around managing tasks, making it a natural candidate when execution is the main goal. | It is task-centered, not necessarily a replacement for a rich note archive. Check Todoist’s plan page for current tiers and limits. |
| Notes within an Apple device ecosystem | Apple Notes | It is identified as an option for Apple users. | Verify current platform support and features before relying on it across devices. |
| Simple, minimal text notes | Simplenote | It is positioned as a distraction-free notes option. | Check its current feature limits and whether it meets your reminder needs. |
The comparison reflects options discussed in The Digital Project Manager’s Google Keep alternatives guide, updated September 10, 2026. The table is a shortlist by use case, not a universal ranking.

Start by identifying what Keep is not doing well
Google describes Keep as a tool for creating and organizing notes, lists, and reminders. If those quick captures work for you but become hard to manage, you may need more organization rather than a completely different kind of app. Google Keep Help outlines the product’s core use.
- Capture is the bottleneck: prioritize an app that is convenient on the devices where ideas occur to you.
- Notes are getting hard to find: look for the organization model you will actually use—such as notebooks, databases, or linked notes.
- Tasks are slipping: decide whether you need reminders attached to notes or a dedicated task-management workflow.
- You write or sketch by hand: test stylus or finger input on your own device before moving.
- You share notes with others: check collaboration features and plan limits rather than assuming every app handles shared work the same way.
What to know about each alternative
Notion for structured notes and collaboration
Notion is worth evaluating if you want notes to live alongside more structured information, such as databases or a shared workspace. That flexibility also means it may feel like more overhead than a quick-capture app. Check the current Notion pricing and plans for the limits that matter to your use; available features and plan terms can change.

Obsidian for connected notes
Obsidian suits people who want to build a network of linked notes rather than rely only on folders or a stream of cards. Consider how you want notes stored and whether you need syncing across devices: local storage and sync are distinct decisions. Obsidian’s official pricing page lists Sync, but check the current details before choosing a setup.
OneNote for notebooks and handwriting
OneNote is a candidate when your notes resemble pages in a notebook or include handwriting and drawings. Microsoft says you can write and draw using a stylus or finger. Because device support and syncing affect day-to-day use, test the app on your actual phone, computer, or tablet before committing. Microsoft’s OneNote product page describes its note-taking features.

Todoist for task-first organization
Todoist belongs on the shortlist if your main problem is keeping track of tasks, not maintaining a flexible archive of rich notes. Compare its current plan tiers and features on the official pricing page. If you need substantial reference material as well as task lists, decide whether you want one app to handle both or separate tools for each job.
Apple Notes and Simplenote for narrower needs
Apple Notes may be convenient for someone already working in Apple’s ecosystem, while Simplenote is aimed at a minimal text-note experience. Treat these as candidates to verify, not guaranteed matches: check supported platforms, current features, and any reminder or export needs that matter to you.

Plan a move before leaving Google Keep
Do not assume that notes, reminders, attachments, or labels will transfer cleanly just because both apps support notes. The available product information does not establish a complete migration path for every alternative. Before moving your full collection, check these practical points:
- Confirm device support. Make sure the app is available and usable on every phone, computer, or tablet you rely on.
- Check sync behavior. Find out what syncs, whether it requires a separate service or plan, and how changes appear across your devices.
- Review export options. Check what formats are available and whether exported notes preserve attachments, organization, and other details you care about.
- Inspect plan limits. Review current free and paid plan restrictions on the app’s official page before building a workflow around a feature.
- Test a small sample. Move a few representative notes—including a list, reminder, and any media you use—then confirm the results before migrating everything.
Plan names, limits, pricing, and availability can change. Use the linked official product pages for current details, and avoid choosing based on a price or feature list that may no longer apply.
