Best Gaming Keypads for PC Gaming and MMO Controls

Compare four gaming keypads for PC and MMO play by control layout, thumb movement, adjustability, profiles, and game compatibility.

The best gaming keypad for an MMO depends on how your hand fits its controls, whether you want an analog thumbstick, and what input modes your game supports. The Razer Tartarus V2 Pro has a well-documented MMO layout and profile features; Azeron’s Cyborg II emphasizes adjustable finger towers, while its Keyzen pairs mechanical keys with a 360-degree thumbstick. None is a universal winner, and the specifications below are manufacturer claims rather than results from comparative hands-on testing.

What a gaming keypad changes

A one-handed gaming keypad replaces some or all of the keyboard controls normally reached by the left hand with a compact bank of programmable inputs. You generally keep aiming with the mouse. For MMO play, the appeal is bringing frequently used abilities, movement, and utility actions within reach without relying on a full keyboard layout.

The designs differ in how keys sit beneath the fingers and what the thumb can reach. More controls do not automatically mean a better fit: consider the actions you need, their reach, the key feel, and whether you want thumb movement on a stick or directional pad.

Gaming keypads to compare

Model Documented controls and feel What it may suit Important qualification
Razer Tartarus V2 Pro Razer lists 31 programmable controls, a TMR thumbstick, three dedicated buttons, an adjustable wrist rest, and configurable keymaps and profiles. Razer product page Players who want an MMO-oriented layout and multiple configurable profiles. Razer’s example MMO mappings include healing, utility, weapon, profession, mount, and movement actions. These examples show possible bindings, not a measured advantage or a guarantee of comfort for every hand.
Razer Tartarus Pro Razer lists 32 programmable keys, analog optical switches, two actions per key at partial and full press, an eight-way thumbpad, and eight quick-toggle profiles. Razer product page Players interested in configurable actuation and assigning separate actions to different press depths. This is a different model from the Tartarus V2 Pro. Its analog-key features and thumbpad should not be attributed to the V2 Pro.
Azeron Cyborg II Azeron lists 30 mappable keys, a 360-degree Hall Effect thumbstick, and adjustable finger towers. Azeron product page Players who want to adjust finger-control positions and use a thumbstick for movement. Adjustability is a design feature, not proof that the keypad will be more comfortable for a particular player. A review notes that setup and adaptation take time: review context.
Azeron Keyzen Azeron lists 32 mappable mechanical keys and a 360-degree Hall Effect thumbstick. Azeron product page Players who prefer mechanical-key feel alongside a thumbstick. Confirm the current listing for switch details and availability; personal preference determines whether the feel suits you.

How to choose for MMO controls

Start with the actions you actually need

Make a short list of the abilities and movement inputs you want under your left hand. Prioritize actions used frequently or urgently, then consider whether the device has reachable keys for those bindings. A higher key count is useful only if you can comfortably reach and remember the controls you assign.

Choose the thumb control by movement preference

The Azeron Cyborg II and Keyzen use a 360-degree thumbstick; the Tartarus Pro has an eight-way thumbpad. The Tartarus V2 Pro lists a TMR thumbstick. These are different control designs, so compare the movement direction and range you want rather than assuming the models behave alike.

  • USB Pass-Through Port, Detachable Wrist Rest - Plug your mouse or headset directly into the keypad for a cleaner desk, and unclip the magnetic wrist rest whenever you want a smaller footprint.

  • Pro Software for Even Deeper Customization - Record your own macro sequences and design custom lighting effects, so the keypad adapts to your exact keybinds.

Consider key feel, fit, and adjustment

The Keyzen is the mechanical-key option in this comparison. The Cyborg II’s adjustable finger towers let you change the positions of its finger controls. Razer lists an adjustable wrist rest on the Tartarus V2 Pro. These features describe what can be adjusted, not which model will fit your hand best; where possible, check return terms and the current product configuration before committing.

Weigh setup against profile flexibility

Azeron Software supports remapping, macros, analog-thumbstick adjustment, and per-game profiles, with automatic profile switching described on its software page. Azeron says profiles can be stored on the keypad. Its guidance is to begin with important keys and expand the layout over time. Azeron Software page

  • 30 mappable inputs can be configured as keyboard inputs, controller/mouse inputs, or Macros. Each button is individually connected with no connection matrices

Razer lists configurable keymaps and profiles for the Tartarus V2 Pro, and quick-toggle profiles for the Tartarus Pro. Multiple layouts can help when different games need different bindings, but they also add configuration work. A review of the Cyborg II describes an adjustment period, so allow time to set up and learn any keypad rather than expecting an instant change in play.

Check game compatibility before relying on analog movement

Compatibility depends on both the game and the input mode you intend to use. Azeron says its Cyborg II, Keyzen, and Cyro work with PC games that support keyboard input. For games supporting mouse and controller input simultaneously, Azeron says the stick can provide true 360-degree analog movement; otherwise, it can emulate WASD or directional-key input. Razer says controller-supported games can use analog input on the Tartarus Pro. Its official product FAQ explains that analog input can provide scaling levels rather than only binary on/off input. Razer Tartarus Pro FAQ That capability is not a promise that every MMO accepts simultaneous mouse and controller input or will handle the feature as you expect. Check the specific game’s input support and any relevant configuration requirements before choosing based on analog movement.

A practical way to get started

  1. Verify the game’s input behavior. Check whether it accepts keyboard input and, if analog movement matters to you, whether it supports the mouse-plus-controller input mode your keypad requires.
  2. Pick a small first layout. Assign only the most important movement and combat actions at first. Azeron’s software guidance recommends starting with essential keys and adding more after you have learned their positions.
  3. Set up a game profile. Use the keypad’s supported software to remap controls and save a per-game profile where available. Check that the intended profile is active before playing.
  4. Expand and revise after practice. Add less-used abilities as you become familiar with the layout, and move bindings that are awkward to reach. Treat macros and alternate press actions as configuration options, not necessities.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose the Tartarus V2 Pro as a candidate if its listed control mix and Razer’s MMO binding examples align with your desired layout.
  • Consider the Tartarus Pro if configurable analog optical key presses and its eight-way thumbpad are priorities.
  • Consider the Cyborg II if adjusting finger-tower positions is important to your setup and you are willing to spend time learning it.
  • Consider the Keyzen if you want mechanical keys together with a 360-degree thumbstick.

These are feature-based matches, not a tested ranking. Hand fit, preferred key feel, intended thumb movement, game compatibility, and patience for configuration are the deciding factors.
