If Dragon’s Dogma 2 is running slowly, start by lowering the in-game graphics settings and selecting Prioritize Performance under Graphics Quality. That is the practical direction supported by Capcom and the Steam listing; it is not a guaranteed FPS preset for every PC or every scene. The right tradeoff depends on your hardware and whether you prefer smoother motion or more visual detail.
Start with Graphics Quality and Prioritize Performance
Capcom’s Steam support FAQ recommends lowering graphics settings if the game runs slowly or does not launch properly. Begin with the in-game graphics-quality choice rather than assuming that one list of individual values is best for every system.

The Steam store listing states a target of 1080p gameplay using an upscaler at 45–60 FPS when Prioritize Performance is selected in Graphics Quality. This is the listing’s published target, not a promise that every PC will hold that range in every area or situation. Your processor, graphics card, settings, and the demands of a particular scene all affect the result.

Frame rate versus image detail
Prioritize Performance is the logical first choice when smoother motion matters more than maximum visual detail. If performance improves but the image looks less appealing to you, raise settings selectively and check the effect in the same demanding area. The available official sources do not establish an optimal value for individual options such as shadows, textures, mesh quality, or ambient occlusion, so treat any exact setting-by-setting recipe as provisional unless it has been tested on your hardware and current game build.

Upscaled output versus native rendering
The Steam listing’s 1080p performance target specifically uses an upscaler. Upscaling is therefore part of the stated performance configuration, not an incidental detail. If your priority is higher FPS, use the game’s performance-oriented option and evaluate the resulting image on your display; do not assume that native rendering will deliver the same frame rate.
Ray tracing on versus off
Capcom’s Steam FAQ lists an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6800 as necessary for ray-tracing features. That is a threshold for ray tracing, not evidence that enabling it is beneficial when your goal is higher FPS. If performance takes priority, compare the game with ray tracing disabled before considering it as part of a visual-quality tradeoff.
What DLSS Frame Generation changes
A Capcom Steam Community announcement dated May 30, 2024 says DLSS Frame Generation was added to the Graphics options. The announcement confirms the feature’s addition, but does not quantify an FPS uplift or establish its current behavior across all supported hardware. Check the Graphics menu on your system and judge the result there rather than expecting a particular increase.

Reset graphics settings if the game stops working properly
Capcom warns that graphics settings above a PC’s capabilities can prevent the game from running properly. Its support FAQ describes restoring the default configuration as a troubleshooting step—not as an FPS tweak:
- Open the folder containing the game’s configuration files.
- Rename
config.iniso the existing file is preserved but no longer used under its original name. - Copy
config_default.iniand use the copy to restore the default configuration. - Launch the game and adjust graphics settings downward from the restored defaults if performance remains poor.
Use Capcom’s FAQ for the full support procedure and file-location details. Restoring defaults can undo previous configuration choices, so keep the renamed file if you may want to refer to it later.
