Best starting point: install Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL to remove most Photo Mode restrictions, then add Photomode Tweaks if you need smoother camera movement, greater distance, wider FOV or deeper depth-of-field control. Portrait photographers who need searchable poses should choose Photo Mode Pose Selector; a complete studio-style workflow is provided by Photomode UI Improvements. Use FreeFly (Noclip) for shots outside the normal Photo Mode space, and treat Immersive Third Person and Immersive First Person as perspective tools rather than Photo Mode overhauls.
These mods extend an already capable vanilla mode. Update 2.2 added improved camera modes, greater camera range, up to three additional characters and new lighting options, so the right mod depends on whether your limitation is distance, camera feel, pose management, editing or viewpoint.

Which Cyberpunk 2077 photography mod should you install?
Use the following decision guide before downloading anything. It separates Photo Mode extensions from tools that move the camera through the game world.
| Primary need | Best fit | What it changes | Operating context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remove Photo Mode restrictions and add poses | Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL | Broad restriction removal, new features and poses updated for Patch 2.3 | Inside Photo Mode |
| Move farther and eliminate camera inertia | Photomode Tweaks | Removes lag and momentum, adds freecam movement up to 2000 m, and expands FOV and depth-of-field controls | Inside Photo Mode |
| Search poses and build elaborate scenes | Photo Mode Pose Selector | Pose and expression search, favorites, Look At Camera controls and per-character freezing | Inside Photo Mode |
| Use a full production workflow | Photomode UI Improvements | Pose browser, mouse-wheel positioning, animation timeline, layers and photo-editor tools | Inside Photo Mode |
| Fly outside normal boundaries | FreeFly (Noclip) | Out-of-bounds free camera; version 2.4 adds an option to ignore camera angle | World/free-camera tool |
| Orbit around V in normal gameplay | Immersive Third Person | Changes the player’s perspective and on-foot camera control | Gameplay perspective |
| Rework first-person framing | Immersive First Person | Native-height and camera changes plus CET FreeLook | Gameplay perspective |
For most photographers, start with one of the first four. Add a world camera or perspective mod only when your shot requires a viewpoint that Photo Mode cannot provide.

What the vanilla game already provides
CD PROJEKT RED’s Update 2.2 substantially improved the built-in Photo Mode. It introduced improved camera modes, increased camera range, support for up to three additional characters and new lighting options. That matters when choosing mods: you are extending a capable baseline, not repairing a missing camera system.
Try the unmodded mode first and identify the exact constraint. If you can reach the subject but cannot place the camera precisely, you need control and range. If you cannot find the right animation, you need a pose organizer. If the camera cannot reach the location at all, a world free-camera tool is more appropriate than stacking several Photo Mode overhauls.
Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL: the broad foundation
The current listing describes Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL as “A Photo Mode overhaul and framework that removes most restrictions, adds new features and poses updated for Patch 2.3.” That makes it the broadest starting point for a conventional photography setup.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →What it is best at
- Removing restrictions that limit the standard Photo Mode experience.
- Adding features beyond the vanilla interface.
- Providing additional poses, including poses updated for Patch 2.3.
Choose it when you want a general-purpose expansion rather than one isolated control. It is especially useful as the base of a minimal camera stack or a portrait stack, because the other tools can concentrate on movement or pose management instead of duplicating the basic unlock work.
What it does not replace
The unlocker is not the dedicated answer to every camera-feel problem. Photomode Tweaks is the more targeted choice for inertia, long-distance movement, FOV and depth of field. Pose Selector is better when your main task is finding a particular expression or freezing one character while another animates. UI Improvements is the workflow-oriented option when you need a timeline, layers and editing controls.
Photomode Tweaks: distance, FOV and direct camera feel
Photomode Tweaks is the specialist camera-control mod. Its listing says it “removes lag / momentum when moving the camera,” supplies a “freecam” that increases movement distance in all directions by 2000 m, and expands FOV and depth-of-field controls. It requires TweakXL.
Why camera inertia matters
Default camera momentum can make small corrections difficult: you overshoot a subject, wait for the movement to settle, then repeat the adjustment. Removing that lag gives you direct placement, which is valuable for level horizons, precise eye lines and narrow gaps between foreground and background elements.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhen the 2000 m range is useful
The roughly 2000 m extension is intended for shots that need the camera much farther from the subject than normal Photo Mode allows. Long establishing views, elevated cityscapes and compressed compositions benefit from the extra travel distance. It also gives you room to reposition before deciding on a final focal length.

Lens and focus controls
Expanded FOV control changes how much of the scene fits in frame. A wider FOV can show architecture or a full group; a narrower FOV can isolate a subject and reduce visual clutter. Expanded depth-of-field control lets you decide how strongly the background and foreground fall out of focus. Use these controls together: moving the camera farther away and narrowing the FOV produces a different perspective from standing close with a wide FOV, even when the subject occupies the same number of pixels.
Dependency and overlap
TweakXL is required. Photomode Tweaks also overlaps with Photomode UI Improvements in camera and interface behavior. Enable one camera-changing feature at a time while diagnosing a problem, and keep a backup before updating either mod.
Photomode UI Improvements: a complete studio workflow
Photomode UI Improvements is aimed at photographers who spend more time arranging a scene than taking a single snapshot. The author summarizes its purpose as: “Spend less time fighting the menu and more time taking the shot.”
Recommended Free Tools
Workflow features
- Pose browser: browse a large pose library instead of cycling blindly through entries.
- Mouse-wheel positioning: make incremental subject adjustments without relying only on broad directional controls.
- Animation timeline: control animation timing so you can capture a specific moment in a motion.
- Layers: organize scene elements and editing operations in a layered workflow.
- Photo-editor tools: make finishing adjustments without leaving the expanded interface.
Required and optional components
The listed requirements are Codeware, RED4ext and redscript. PhotoMode-EX and TweakXL provide optional features according to the listing. Install the required components first, launch the game and confirm that the interface loads before adding optional integrations.
Who should choose it
This is the strongest choice for large pose libraries, expression work, animation timing and layered editing. It is more involved than a two-mod camera stack, so it is not automatically the best first installation for someone who only wants a farther camera. If you install it alongside Photomode Tweaks, introduce the changes separately because both can affect camera or UI behavior.
Photo Mode Pose Selector: searchable portraits and controlled subjects
Photo Mode Pose Selector focuses on organization and subject control rather than broad camera travel. Its key tools are searchable poses and expressions, favorites, Look At Camera controls and per-character freezing.
Pose and expression search
Search is useful when you know the mood or action you want but do not know the animation’s position in the list. Save frequently used poses as favorites so a recurring character or scene can be rebuilt quickly.

Look At Camera and freezing
Look At Camera controls help direct a character’s attention toward the lens instead of leaving the head aligned with an animation’s original direction. Per-character freezing lets you hold one subject in place while another continues to animate, which is valuable for conversations, group portraits and layered action scenes.

Recommended portrait pairing
Pair Pose Selector with Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL when the goal is portrait variety plus fewer restrictions. Add Appearance Menu Mod or CharLi only after checking their current requirements: the cited Nexus guidance associates Appearance Menu Mod with spawning props and moving subjects, and CharLi with lighting. Those additions are secondary; establish the camera and pose tools first.
FreeFly (Noclip): camera travel beyond Photo Mode
FreeFly (Noclip) is the out-of-bounds option. It is tagged for Cyber Engine Tweaks and is a world/free-camera tool rather than a conventional Photo Mode extension. Version 2.4 was updated on 19 July 2025. Its changelog adds an option to ignore camera angle, locking height unless Space or Shift is used, and records bug fixes.
When to use it
- Capturing locations outside the normal Photo Mode boundary.
- Creating cinematic fly-throughs or scouting a route before framing a shot.
- Getting a world-scale viewpoint that a Photo Mode camera cannot reach.
Why it needs a separate save
A noclip camera is designed around exploration and gameplay behavior, not only still-image composition. Keep a separate save and return to a normal gameplay state before continuing a regular playthrough. Treat key-state changes and out-of-bounds movement as reasons to be cautious, especially after game or mod updates.
Immersive Third Person and Immersive First Person: perspective complements
Immersive Third Person
Immersive Third Person changes how you view and control the world, including an on-foot free-orbit perspective. It complements Photo Mode when you want to inspect V’s movement or frame a scene from a third-person gameplay viewpoint. It does not replace a Photo Mode unlocker, pose browser or photo-editor suite.
The listing warns that MO2’s virtual file system may be unstable with this mod. If you use Mod Organizer 2, test the perspective mod in a controlled profile and verify that the game returns to the expected camera after disabling it.
Immersive First Person
Immersive First Person provides a first-person perspective rework that includes CET FreeLook and native-height/camera changes. It is useful for immersive environmental views and first-person composition, but it addresses the gameplay camera rather than the Photo Mode menu.
Its documentation warns of a conflict with the Shift camera mod. Do not combine those changes without checking the current compatibility notes and testing with a backup profile.

Minimal camera stack
Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL + Photomode Tweaks is the shortest path to more control. The unlocker removes broad restrictions and adds poses; Photomode Tweaks handles camera inertia, distance, FOV and depth of field. Choose this pair when range and movement feel matter more than advanced pose browsing or layered editing.

Pose-heavy portrait stack
Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL + Photo Mode Pose Selector combines broad access with searchable poses, expressions, favorites, Look At Camera and character freezing. Add Appearance Menu Mod for props or subject movement, or CharLi for lighting, only after verifying their current requirements on their own listings.
Full studio workflow
Photomode UI Improvements, with Codeware, RED4ext and redscript, is the workflow choice. Add PhotoMode-EX or TweakXL only for the optional features you actually need. This stack suits photographers who work through pose libraries, expressions, animation timing, layers and finishing tools.
World exploration and cinematic fly-throughs
FreeFly (Noclip) is the appropriate tool when the camera must leave the normal Photo Mode space. Keep it in a separate profile or save and avoid treating it as a substitute for portrait controls.
Perspective studies
Use Immersive Third Person for on-foot orbiting and Immersive First Person for first-person FreeLook and camera-height work. Add either only when the desired image depends on gameplay perspective.
Installation and compatibility checklist
Mod versions and dependencies change frequently. Check each current Nexus Mods page immediately before installation, even if you have used the same mod before.
- Confirm the game and mod versions. Photo Mode Unlocker 2.3 XL is described as updated for Patch 2.3; FreeFly’s cited version 2.4 update is dated 19 July 2025. Treat those labels as version-specific rather than permanent compatibility guarantees.
- Install framework dependencies first. Current listings reference Cyber Engine Tweaks, RED4ext, redscript, Codeware, TweakXL and optional PhotoMode-EX. Follow each mod’s own requirement list instead of assuming one framework covers another.
- Choose one installation manager. CD PROJEKT RED’s modding documentation covers Vortex and Mod Organizer 2. Keep manually installed Cyber Engine Tweaks or RED4ext files consistent with the manager you choose; mixing methods makes updates and removals harder to audit.
- Build in small increments. Start the game after each major mod or dependency. Confirm that Photo Mode opens, the camera moves normally and poses load before adding another camera-changing package.
- Back up saves and profiles. Make a clean backup before installing a world-camera tool, changing perspective mods or updating a group of dependencies.
- Read conflict notes. Immersive First Person documents a conflict with the Shift camera mod. Immersive Third Person warns about possible MO2 virtual-file-system instability. Photomode Tweaks and Photomode UI Improvements overlap in camera and UI behavior.
A practical shooting workflow
1. Establish the subject
Enter Photo Mode with the minimum stack that supports the shot. Use Unlocker for unrestricted access, Pose Selector for searchable animation and expressions, or UI Improvements when timing and layers are part of the setup.
2. Select and freeze animation
Choose a pose or expression, save it as a favorite if you may reuse it, and freeze individual characters when a group scene requires different timing. Use Look At Camera only for subjects that should acknowledge the lens; leaving other characters in their natural direction often gives a more believable scene.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
4. Set perspective and focus
Adjust FOV and depth of field together. Decide whether the image should communicate the surrounding architecture or isolate a face, then tune focus so blur supports that decision rather than hiding important subject detail.
5. Refine timing and finish
With UI Improvements, use the animation timeline to find the exact frame, then use layers and photo-editor tools for the final arrangement. If you are using the smaller stack, make one change at a time and save the image before experimenting with another pose or camera position.
Troubleshooting common failures
The game starts, but Photo Mode has no new controls
Recheck the mod’s required frameworks and load order. Photomode Tweaks requires TweakXL; UI Improvements lists Codeware, RED4ext and redscript. Verify that those components are installed through the same workflow and that their versions match the current game build.
The camera behaves unpredictably
Disable overlapping camera features first. Photomode Tweaks and Photomode UI Improvements can both alter camera or UI behavior. Test one by itself, then re-enable the other only after confirming which behavior you want.
A pose or expression cannot be found
Use Pose Selector’s search and favorites rather than cycling through the entire list. If you need animation timing rather than a different entry, UI Improvements’ timeline is the more appropriate tool.
A third-person view is unstable in Mod Organizer 2
Immersive Third Person’s documentation warns that MO2’s virtual file system may be unstable. Reproduce the issue in a clean profile, confirm the manager’s deployment state and test without unrelated perspective or camera mods.
First-person camera controls conflict
Immersive First Person documents a conflict with the Shift camera mod. Disable the other camera modification, retest CET FreeLook and then decide which behavior is essential to the project.

The world camera leaves the playable area
That is expected behavior from FreeFly (Noclip), not a Photo Mode failure. Return to a backed-up save or a normal gameplay profile when you are finished with the out-of-bounds shot.
How to choose without over-installing
- Choose Unlocker only when restrictions and extra poses are your sole problem.
- Add Photomode Tweaks when the camera is too slow, too close or too narrow.
- Add Pose Selector when searching and repeating poses takes more time than framing.
- Choose UI Improvements instead of layering several interface overhauls when you need timeline, layer and editor features.
- Use FreeFly only for world-scale or out-of-bounds work.
- Use Immersive Third Person or Immersive First Person when the desired viewpoint is a gameplay perspective, not a Photo Mode feature.
The most reliable setup is the smallest one that solves the specific limitation. Start with a clean save, add one behavior-changing mod at a time and recheck current requirements before every update.
