Who should skip it

Controller and hardware planning

- Count players and controllers. Decide how many people will play simultaneously, then match that number to the game’s local limit and the controllers physically available.
- Choose the mode before the group arrives. For a party, prepare a short event rotation. For football, decide whether the first match is competitive or cooperative. For racing, select Arcade or simulation settings in advance.
- Install and update the game. Check the current store listing, download patches, and launch the local mode once so you know where the menu is.
- Configure assists for the least experienced player. Racing assists, shorter matches, and simplified controls can prevent a newcomer from being eliminated immediately. Increase difficulty after everyone understands the basics.
- Run a practice round. Use one low-stakes event to confirm that every controller is assigned correctly and that the camera, audio, and display settings work from the couch.
- Set a rotation rule. In a four-person session, rotate after each event or match. In a two-player series, agree on race length or number of fixtures before starting so nobody argues over the finish line.

Assuming a subscription listing is permanent
Game Pass and EA Play availability can change. A title included today may require purchase later, and plan tiers can differ. Capture the current inclusion label when organizing the event rather than relying on an old recommendation.
