The best security-camera cloud storage is the plan that fits your exact camera, recording mode, retention needs, and region—not necessarily the one with the longest history. Compare event clips separately from continuous recording, check how many cameras a plan covers, and count subscription add-ons in the ongoing cost.
Which security camera cloud storage service is best?
There is no universal winner: the services below are tied to their own camera ecosystems, and features can vary by model, power configuration, plan, and country. These are vendor-published examples, not a complete market survey or an independent ranking. Confirm the current terms for your camera and location before subscribing.

What is the difference between event history and continuous recording?
Event history stores clips triggered by motion or another camera event. Continuous history records a camera feed throughout the day, subject to the plan’s stated duration and device requirements. A plan advertising 60 days of event history does not therefore provide 60 days of uninterrupted footage.

How long are security camera recordings stored in the cloud?
Retention is determined by the service, plan, and recording type. In the examples above, Google Home Premium Advanced separates 60 days of event history from 10 days of continuous history; Ring documents up to 180 days for motion-event videos; eufy lists a rolling 30-day cloud history; and Arlo’s cited pages describe different durations for US and UK contexts.
“Up to” and “rolling” matter: the former is a maximum described by the provider, while rolling history means older footage ages out as new recordings arrive. If you need to preserve a particular clip beyond a service’s retention window, download or export it using the provider’s supported method and confirm where that copy is stored.

Can you record without a cloud subscription?
Sometimes. eufy’s support materials say video can be recorded to built-in storage without subscribing to cloud backup, but the available storage method depends on the camera model. This is not a blanket guarantee for all cameras or ecosystems. Check the product’s official specifications for built-in or other local storage and whether recording continues if internet access or a subscription is unavailable.

How to choose a plan for your camera
- Identify the exact model and region. Find the model number and check the provider’s official plan and compatibility information for your country. Do not assume that a feature shown on another regional page applies to your account.
- Decide what needs to be recorded. Choose event clips or continuous recording based on whether you need footage between alerts. Verify the history length for each mode separately.
- Count cameras and check add-ons. Confirm how many devices are included and whether continuous recording or another feature costs extra per camera. Ring, for example, documents a separate 24/7 Recording add-on for each eligible camera.
- Compare recurring cost, not just the entry price. Put monthly and annual billing on the same time basis, and include every required plan or add-on. An annual-billing monthly equivalent is not the same as paying month to month.
- Check the alternative if you want to avoid a subscription. Verify whether your model supports local recording, how much footage it can retain, and how recordings can be retrieved if the camera or storage device is damaged.
- Recheck terms before paying. Plan names, regional availability, prices, retention, and camera eligibility can change. Use the provider’s current official page for the final decision.
What to verify before subscribing
- The exact camera model is eligible for the plan and for the recording mode you want.
- The advertised retention applies to event clips, continuous footage, or both.
- The number of covered cameras matches your installation.
- Required add-ons are included in your cost calculation.
- The quoted terms and price apply in your country and to your chosen billing period.
- You know how to save important footage before it expires.
